CT Studs are designed for use with 1" thick gypsum 24” wide liner panels. Gypsum liner panels are inserted into the “T” portion of the stud and are friction fit. The system is finished with fire rated gypsum board to complete and achieve the designated fire rating. ClarkDietrich J-Tabbed Track is used at the floor and ceiling in shaftwall assemblies. CT studs and gypsum shaftliner panels are friction fit between the top and bottom J-Tabbed Track. J-Tabbed Tracks have unequal legs. The longer leg (available in 2-1/4" and 3") is installed on the shaft side providing a backstop for easy installation of the liner panel. Three-inch leg track is typically used as jamb struts around closure details, including duct and door openings, abutments and intersections. The face paper is folded around the long edges to reinforce and protect the core, and the ends are square-cut and finished smooth. Long edges of panels are beveled for ease of installation. BASIC USES Shaftliner panels are designed to be used to construct lightweight fire barriers for cavity shaftwalls (1-4 hr), stairwells and area separation fire walls in multifamily housing. The panels are key components in the I-Stud, C-T Stud and C-H Stud Cavity Shaftwall Systems and the H-Stud Area Separation Fire Wall System. Submittal Approvals: (Stamps or Signatures) 09 29 00 FIRE RESISTANCE RATINGS Fire-Shield Shaftliner is UL classified and approved for inclusion in specific UL firerated designs: U347, U497, U498, U499, V451, W414 and W419. Fire resistance ratings represent the result of tests on assemblies made up of materials authorized by National Gypsum in specific configurations. When selecting construction designs to meet certain fire resistance requirements, caution must be used to ensure that each component of the assembly is the one specified in the test. Further, precaution should be taken that assembly procedures are in accordance with those of the tested assembly. (For copies of specific tests, call 1-800-NATIONAL.) UL CORE DESIGNATION Fire-Shield Shaftliner: FSW INSTALLATION RECOMMENDATIONS Installation of Fire-Shield Shaftliner should be consistent with methosds described in specific application details for Cavity Shaftwall Systems or H-Stud Area Separation Fire Wall Systems or other fire-rated designs. HANDLING PRECAUTIONS Always store Shaftliner Gypsum Panels flat on a level surface, and support with properly placed risers. Care should be taken to avoid impact, unwarranted flexing and subsequent damage to board edges, ends and corners. Appropriate storage and handling is outlined in Gypsum Association GA-801. 110688 Rev. 04/13 SUBMITTAL Head-of-Wall Deflection Track and Firestop System Manufacturer (800) 394-9875 ph 12098 County Rd. 150, Kimball, MN 55353 (320) 398-7660 fax info@firetrak.com www.firetrak.com Description The Fire Trak System consists of the Fire Trak ceiling runner with a shoulder offset the thickness of the wall material. A second piece of wall material is fitted tight to the roof or floor deck and then attached to the shoulder. This allows the deck and the Fire Trak ceiling runner to move in relation to the wall studs and allows the overlapping piece of wall material attached to the Fire Trak to slide over the primary wall material. Benefits Fire Trak 1 Hr. Shadowline Standard Wall - 1” Deflection Fire Trak is a fire rated Head-of-Wall Joint that has passed current fire and cycle tests at U.L. without fire caulk or spray. The system is classified and listed for use with U-400 series walls and is good for both roof and floor assemblies. Code Compliance The Fire Trak System meets all standard building codes and its unique design and exceptional performance are widely recognized and accepted by Building Officials. Fire Trak has U.L. listings for standard walls, cavity walls and shaft walls. It is tested and listed both parallel and perpendicular to the roof and/or floor deck. Test Standards: U.L. 2079 - Tests for Fire Resistance of Building Joint Systems Fire Trak 2 Hr. Cavity Shadowline Shaft Wall - 2” Deflection ASTM E1966 - Standard Test Method for Fire Resistive Joint Systems Cycling Requirements: The test assemblies were cycled 500 times, 100 cycles at 30 CPM and 400 cycles at 10 CPM. The system has Class I, II and III cycling capabilities. Movement Capabilities The Fire Trak System does not require fire caulk or spray to achieve a fire rating. This allows the Fire Trak System substantially greater movement capabilities than other systems. The Fire Trak System achieves a full 100% compression and/or extension and has been tested and listed with U.L. for deflection up to 6”. Fire Rated Condition: Up to 3” of Compression and 3” of Extension Fire Trak 2 Hr. Shadowline Standard Wall - 6” Deflection Up to 6” of Compression or Extension Patented System U.S. Patent No.’s 5,471,805 and 5,755,066 cover the Fire Trak System. Creating a shoulder on a track to attach an overlapping board for the purpose of joint movement is part of Fire Trak’s patented assembly and its use constitutes patent infringement. Availability U.S. PATENT NO’S 5,471,805 AND 5,755,066 Major Credit Cards are accepted. There is a 24 hour lead time on standard profiles. 800.394.9875 www.firetrak.com SUBMITTAL PAGE 1 OF 2 SUBMITTAL 2008 U.L.
