is to alleviate poverty through entrepreneurship by offering loans, savings programs, credit establishment,
and financial services to low-income women entrepreneurs in the U.S. Founded by Nobel Peace Laureate
Muhammad Yunus, Grameen America is modeled after the success of Grameen Bank in Bangladesh and its
pioneering work in poverty alleviation and establishing "credit as a human right." Grameen America opened
its first branch in Queens, New York in 2008, and has since expanded the program to 11 cities across the U.S.
Further expansion efforts are underway in numerous new markets around the country.
Since its inception, Grameen America has demonstrated that the Grameen peer lending model is just as
successful in the United States as it has been in the developing world, disbursing over $245 million in microloans to more than 45,000 women entrepreneurs across the country.
Job Description:
Grameen America is seeking an eager design-savvy candidate to coordinate and provide support to the
organization’s communications and marketing team. He/She will report to the Director of Partnerships and
Marketing.
Responsibilities:
 Develop content for blog, manage social media channels, draft appeals and e-newsletters to build
awareness about microfinance, social enterprise and Grameen America
 Design and update promotional marketing material and other brand collateral, both print and
electronic, that adhere to Grameen America’s brand guidelines
 Track website, social media and e-newsletter performance; work closely with Partnerships &
Marketing Director to refine and execute digital marketing strategy
 Provide support on conference and event planning
 Assist with media outreach and press coordination
Ideal candidate:
 Bachelor's degree required; major in marketing, communications or related field preferred
 Experience creating marketing materials and building digital campaigns preferred
 Comfortable using email newsletter platforms and social media tools
 Exceptional verbal, written, editing, formatting & presentation skills
 Basic design/layout knowledge required
 Proficient in Microsoft Office & one of the following: InDesign, Photoshop or Adobe Illustrator
 2+ years working in an office environment
 Commitment to social entrepreneurship and mission-driven work
 Entrepreneurial spirit; ability to work independently and take initiative on leading projects
 Highly organized, results-oriented and creative aesthetic
 Fluency in Spanish a plus
