04/04/2015 Bartram Trail to Licklog & Pigpen Falls Hike Report Bartram Trail to Licklog & Pigpen Falls April 4, 2015 12 Hikers Kitty Allen, Linda Denney, Maria Austin (Guest), Marilyn Barnett (new member, first hike), Mary N (guest hiker), Mike Payne, David Moody, Tom and Anne Latham, Trudy Bruns, Dale Hamann, and Jim Snitker – Hike Leader Hike description, which is accurate: We will begin just south of Russell Bridge on SC 28 north of Walhalla, SC. We will follow the yellow blaze Bartram/Chattooga Trail East to two falls far more beautiful than their names: Lick Log and Pig Pen. We will pause for lunch at Pig Pen Falls where the Foothill Trail intersects the Chattooga Trail. On our return we will take the "fisherman's trail" which hugs and shows gorgeous views of the Chattooga River for most of the return hike. We may see several fly fishermen in pursuit of elusive Brown Trout, class II/III rapids on the river, as well as several native wildflowers. After the hike those who wish can stop in Walhalla for ice cream before returning to the rendezvous site.
