Hike description, which is accurate:
We will begin just south of Russell Bridge on SC 28 north of Walhalla, SC. We will follow the
yellow blaze Bartram/Chattooga Trail East to two falls far more beautiful than their names: Lick
Log and Pig Pen. We will pause for lunch at Pig Pen Falls where the Foothill Trail intersects the
Chattooga Trail. On our return we will take the "fisherman's trail" which hugs and shows
gorgeous views of the Chattooga River for most of the return hike. We may see several fly
fishermen in pursuit of elusive Brown Trout, class II/III rapids on the river, as well as several
native wildflowers.
After the hike those who wish can stop in Walhalla for ice cream before returning to the
rendezvous site.
