The last lap It doesn’t matter what sector you work in… If you want to improve health in Nigeria and have a bold way to do it, visit the NHIM portal and respond to one of the problem tracks. These have been developed consultatively with stakeholders and reflect the healthcare challenges faced across the six geopolitical zones of Nigeria. Your innovation will be assessed by a team of experts - if it meets the requirements, we will invite you to the business proposal stage. You will submit a detailed business plan that demonstrates the social/commercial viability of your innovation. You will get support to prepare this during a business development boot camp. At this stage you will have the chance to pitch your innovation to a panel of Nigerian industry ‘dragons’ made up of medics, techies, academics and investors… could yours be the innovation that wins US $100,000? A problem statement is a concise description of topical and contextual health challenges in Nigeria. Problem statements have been developed through extensive consultation with key actors in all six geo-political zones. These include the National Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Centre for Health Market Innovations, Saving One Million Lives Initiative and several private sector companies. Problems statements for 2015 include service delivery challenges as well as broader health systems and global health issues. The challenge allows individuals, teams, organizations and consortia to problem-solve and pilot their innovation in real-time, in a context-sensitive manner.
