POSITION
Staff Position- Shop Assistant/Burke Hall Theater Facilities Manager
RESPONSIBILITIES
The School of Music and Performing Arts seeks a Shop Assistant/Theater Facilities Manager to work with our MFA
Costume Designer and MFA Technical Director on main stage theatre productions and dance concerts, and oversee
facilities management and rentals year round. Responsibilities include the scheduling of the Burke Theatre space,
scheduling maintenance of the theatre’s infrastructure and cataloging inventory, production lab supervision,
purchasing, maintaining budgets, and other tasks as needed. The candidate will maintain an active role in a healthy,
highly collaborative, growth-focused department. Professionalism, collegiality, and excellent organizational and
communication skills are essential
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelors Degree in Theater is preferred. Skills in time management and the ability to manage student workers, a
general knowledge in all areas of theatre design and technology are required. Specialty skills in areas of costume
technology, scenic construction, properties, and painting are desired.
COLLEGE OF THE ARTS AND THE SCHOOL OF MUSIC & PERFORMING ARTS
The College of the Arts includes the School of Music & Performing Arts, School of Architecture and Design, and
Department of Visual Arts. The Performing Arts unit is committed to advancing learning through quality teaching,
research, creative activity and active participation in academic life. The unit has a full-time faculty of seven who
serve some 75 majors in a BFA degree program with concentrations in theatre and dance. Along with several
studios, the Performing Arts unit utilizes three performance venues: a 200 seat proscenium-thrust theatre, a 130 seat,
multi-media proscenium theatre and an 800 seat proscenium theatre with orchestra pit.

SALARY
Commensurate with experience.
