brochure - Ikebana San Antonio
“”Sogetsu ikebana is recognized as a
sculptural form of art,
distinguished for a fresh and
dynamic style that evolves along
with modern society. In particular,
Sogetsu promotes an ikebana
without limits. An individual
ikebana arranger uses his or her
aesthetic awareness to compose
materials, choose their most
beautiful aspects, order them, and
endow them with a value or feeling
transcending that which they had in
nature. The students of Sogetsu
are encouraged to create sculptural
compositions that are individualistic
and imaginative.”

Houston Sogetsu Teacher, Yumei Montalvo
will sponsor a special workshop by
Soho Sakai, RIJI, AIFD
Sunday, March 29, 10:00 a.m.
!
SAKAI SEN’EI will be guiding us to
create beautiful containers with
bamboo. She will mail to us bamboo
that is 3 feet long and 3-4 inches in
diameter. And she will bring 3 saws.
Because of the challenge of handling
the material, there will be enough
for only 10 students.
The cost of the workshop will vary
depending on the number of students.
An estimate of $60 to $70 is
proposed but it could be less with a
full enrollment. All this includes
materials. It is a rare and special
privilege to learn from such a high
ranking Sogetsu teacher.
Location: 3637 W. Alabama, Houston
