It involves self-discovery and a meditative, artistic process using living materials. Through touching flowers, smelling plants, imagining a story, plants can sometimes transport you to another place. During the workshop, each practitioner will become an artist, creating a new world through Ikebana. By respecting flowers and having a modest approach, one can experience the joy and thrill of creating a momentary beauty. The Workshops are taught in small groups, directly by Tamayo Hussey. Students' Ikebana are created at various installation spaces in her house including the tatami room. The house itself is located in an area of outstanding natural beauty (AONB) called the Wye Valley, a magical place in rural Wales. The house was the first house in the UK to be built using Welsh grown Japanese larch timber and was christened the Japanese House by the British 'Grand Designs' TV program in 2013 and 2014. Please book in advance and indicate your level of expertise in flower arranging when you book. If you would like to book for both workshops (daytime and evening) or you are travelling some distance, we can provide information on local accommodation. I look forward to meeting you! Tamayo
