GENERAL INFORMATION AND RULES
1. INTRODUCTION
WushuOntario and WushuCanada are pleased to announce the 2015 International Wushu Sports Festival
taking place in Toronto, Ontario. In this first annual event, we will be bringing together the top martial
artists from around the world to compete and to experience the cultural enrichment festivities in Toronto,
Canada’s #1 city.
2. DATE
The 2015 International Wushu Sports Festival will be held from August 18 to August 28, 2015.
The competition will be a 2 day event that will run from August 22-23.

5. ACCOMMODATIONS
Athletes and participants will be accommodated at nearby hotels that offer rooms with 2 bed options.
Transportation to and from venue along with 3 meal plans per day, will be provided by the organizing
committee only to those who are enrolled in all inclusive packages (refer to 14. for packages).

Judges will score based on creativity, presentation and difficulty and will deduct based on
technical errors and missing requirements.
National High Performance Competition Events
Competitions will include the following events for males and females in all age brackets:
Wushu Taolu (Bare Hand, Short Weapon & Long Weapon Routines);
Participants representing a recognized Provincial Wushu Sport Organization seeking National
Ranking and Team Recognition.
Participants in this level of competition will be ranked and recognized as 2014-2015 CANADIAN
NATIONAL CHAMPIONS in their respective age and event brackets.

Hand and Highest Weapons Result) will be selected to represent the Canadian National Team at the 13
WWC in Jakarta, Indonesia November 2015.
The Optional Routine Competition will be conducted in accordance with the newest edition of the Rules for
International Wushu Taolu Competition endorsed by the IWuF. The right of interpretation of the Rules
rests solely with WushuCanada’s technical chair. Selected participants of the Canadian National Wushu
Team must provide a valid life insurance, valid Canadian passport and medical certificate including an ECG
test along with valid membership to WushuCanada through their respective PSO.
Canadian athletes under the age of 18 who wish to compete in this Routine Competition should register
under age category ME or FE.
International Elite Cup for Male and Female Athletes will be presented to Highest Ranking Athlete in
Combined Bare Hand, Long Weapon and Short Weapon Routines.

The DuanWei (CWA) Routine Category is open to all ages and will consist of all CWA recognized standard
routines including IWuF standard routines for those who do not meet age criteria.
Group C routines are considered Level 4, Group B routines are considered level 5 and Group A routines are
considered Level 6.
Recognition in this Routine Competition will include WushuCanada DuanWei Certification of applicable
level if ranking in Combined Bare Hand, Short Weapon and Long Weapon are scored in Gold or Silver Grade.
For CWA DuanWei recognition, additional in class theory exams will be required for levels 3-6.
Participant should choose the level of experience that will best challenge their abilities. There are a total of
six levels of participation regardless of age. Refer to the table above for a typical guide for determination of
level.

13. PARTICIPATION ELIGIBILITY
National High Performance Competition Events

Must be registered as a Competitive Athlete under WushuCanada through their applicable Provincial Sport
Organization (PSO).
Non-members pay the full rate of $315/athlete. This also applies to athletes that reside in a province
without a corresponding PSO.
Any athlete wishing to compete who resides in a province with a PSO must pay their dues through their
corresponding PSO.
A Taolu competitor may enter a maximum of three (3) individual events for National ranking.
Super Elite and Traditional Wushu Cup Events
All athletes are welcome to participate in any event that corresponds to their age category.

15. DEADLINES & PAYMENT INFORMATION
Standard Preliminary Registrations:
All event registrations and payments for clubs and participants must be received in person or by mail to
WushuCanada office before June 25th, 2015 by 11:59PM Eastern Time. The required registration forms
must be completed along with proof of identity (photo ID/passport) and 2 passport size photos (3.5cm x
4.5cm).
Early Bird Registrations:
Register in person or by mail before May 20h, 2015 by 11:59PM Eastern Time to receive a special early
rate of $25 off.
Late Registrations:
A $100.00 fee will be applied to athletes who submit after the deadline of June 25th, 2015. The final
acceptance of late registration will be before July 15th, 2015 by 11:59PM Eastern Time.

There are Preliminary Team Entry forms specific to different routine categories and a general
individual registration and waiver form for all participants, submit only those that apply.
Should a competitor wish to withdraw; he/she would be required to submit a written application
with all relevant documents attached within 10 days after the application closing date (June 25th,
2015). All fees excluding the registration fee will be refunded in full if all criteria of withdrawal
have been met.
Should a participant wish to change any competition information after June 25th, 2015, he/she
shall do so with written application signed by coach. There will be a $25 charge for each event
change.

17. COMPETITION METHOD
Each participant may compete in one hand routine, one short weapon routine, and one long weapon
routine.

The best two out of three routine scores will be calculated to determine the ranking score for that
participant.
The first place winner of each event will get 0.1 points added to their overall ranking score
Men and Women will be ranked separately
The top 5 women and top 5 men in the age group MF/FF in the IWuF Optional Wushu Routine
category will form the Canadian National Wushu Team (Taolu) to compete at the 2015 13th World
Wushu Championship in Jakarta, Indonesia.
* Duel events will not contribute toward the team selection
Participants are responsible to bring their own appropriate attire and equipment for each event
i.e. Uniforms, apparatus, music, etc.
Time limits are as followed:
Individual routines (Barehanded/apparatus): Two minutes
TaijiQuan routines: Six minutes
Taiji Weapon routines: Four minutes
Group Quanshu and Group TaijiQuan routines: Six minutes
Group Apparatus and Group Taiji Apparatus routine: Four minutes

0.1 deduction for every 2 seconds exceeded (Individual routines) and every 5 seconds
exceeded (Taiji & Group routines)
18. REQUIRED FORMS:
The delegation of each team / athlete must bring the following:

Preliminary Entry Form for the corresponding routine category
•
FINAL Individual Registration & Waiver Form
•
Provide proof of age/citizenship if requested
19. ARBITRATION
Wushu Ontario will establish an Arbitration Committee for the purpose of resolving any competition
disputes. Prior to the completion of the whole competition, the participant or coach must inform the Chief
Judge that they wish to file a complaint. A $100 (non-refundable) fee and a written complaint must be
submitted to the Arbitration Committee within one hour commencing the completion of the whole event.
Decisions made by the Arbitration Committee will be considered final.
20. CODE OF CONDUCT
First and foremost, utmost respect amongst all athletes competing against each other. Coaches should lead
by example and advise their athletes regardless of the outcome. Participants must always respect
themselves, their fellow competitors, coaches and most importantly the judges. The behaviors of the
athletes are a direct reflection of the coach and it is the responsibility of the coach to ensure that athletes
conduct themselves in a responsible and respectful manner to all bodies within the competition. If a coach,

participant and/or spectator does not adhere to any of the said above and displays a non-conducive
manner of sportsmanship, it will be the right of the organizing committee to have the coach, participant
and/or spectator suspended and/or removed from the premises and from all WushuCanada sanctioned
events.
