Directorate of Protocols And Strategic Cooperation, a gateway to international experience not only for
Fatih University students and staffs but also for those of our educational partner institutions. As a
result of increasingly internationalization of the world, demands from universities become more global
than ever. Fatih University recognizes this trend and the importance of positioning itself in the
emerging global networks. The Office enriches the international atmosphere of Fatih University
through partnerships with carefully selected international universities, and promotes global awareness
and visibility. DPSC under the supervision of Department of International Affairs for international
relations is responsible for;

Playing a central role to establish and maintain relations with higher education institutions
within Europe –under Erasmus Program- and outside of the Europe.

Coordinating outgoing Fatih University students in their selection and registration at the
partner institutions and processing incoming exchange students’ application.

Providing orientation services to incoming exchange students and establishing/maintaining a
link among incoming students, Fatih University academicians and administration.

Hosting all international gusts of University, and organize publicity tours within the main
campus.

Arrange summer schools and study programs to Fatih University Students in the abroad or
coordinate such academic events in Fatih University

General Introduction
Fatih University was founded by Turkish Association of Health and Medical Treatment, in 1996. It
carries out its educational and research activities on Büyükçekmece and Maltepe (Istanbul) campuses.
Fatih University considers respect to human beings and the environment as a base in producing
information. It foregrounds interdisciplinary approaches and critical thinking in the process of
producing, accessing to and using knowledge.
Fatih University has made its credit transfer system compatible with European Credit Transfer System
(ETCS). Courses are consisted of lecture, seminar and application, and for each course ECTS credits
are assigned.

ECTS and DS Label
Fatih University has made its credit transfer system compatible with European Credit Transfer System
(ETCS). Courses are consisted of lectures, seminars and applications, and for each course ECTS
credits are assigned. An ECTS coordinator is designated for every department. The coordinator
facilitates students for all ECTS related works.
The results of this effort, Fatih University received ECTS and DS Label after the selection of the
Education, Audio-visual and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA). Fatih University is one of the rare
universities to deserve to get these labels in Europe and there are now only 6 foundation universities
among the 168 Higher Education Institutions in Turkey that has both labels.
European Credit Transfer System (ECTS)
ECTS: A student oriented credit system based on the workload of the students.
60 ECTS credits represent a full academic year of study and 30 ECTS credits normally represents
one semester.

Acceptance
Once your application has been received and processed by department of International Affairs, it will
be sent to related academic department in Fatih University for approval. Departmental coordinators,
who will also be act as your academic adviser during your study, inform our office about the decision
regarding your application. In case of acceptance, your “Acceptance Letter” will be sent to your email address then the original one by post to your home institution. The original letter might be
required by Turkish Embassies to get student visa.
Insurance
Fatih University will provide assistance in obtaining insurance for incoming and outbound mobile
participants.
“Students must have insurance in Turkey”
Fatih University will inform mobile participants of cases in which insurance cover is not automatically
provided. Information and assistance can be provided by the following contact points and information

Course Registration
Course registration is made through MyFatih;
 You can choose courses from any department and any semester.
 You might not find all courses that you have listed while you were applying. As you have
informed, LA or Course List is only an assumption.
 If you do not find the course(s) you wish to take on the system, it means that it is not offered
this semester. In this case, you can write or visit your academic coordinator to find similar
course(s)..
 You should inform and ask approve for your course list from your coordinator at home
university.

Once You Arrive at Istanbul
Fatih University Büyükçekmece Campus is located in the Akçaburgaz area on the Hadımköy road.
Transportation to the campus is possible through İETT and private buses, minibuses, cabs and private
cars.
Transportation via E-5 Hihgway (by Metrobus)
Access to campus is possible through number of transportations. You can get off at Metrobus
Hadimkoy stop and then get on to an IETT Bus No 418 that comes from Yenibosna route or to HT-18
from Avcilar.
It is also convenient to get off at the final destination of Metrobus (TÜYAP) and get on to free ring
services of Fatih University. The free ring services are available in enrollment period as well as in the
academic year. The free ring services do not offer service in official holidays, winter and summer
holidays.

Shuttle Bus Services
Fatih University has an agreement with a private transportation company called ATEŞTUR. In
accordance with this agreement, transportation service is provided for the students and the
personnel. Only the students who register to ATEŞTUR can benefit these services.
Shuttle Bus routes are arranged according to the requests from the students and the personnel.
Student and personnel shuttle buses arrive on the campus at 07:45 on weekdays, and student shuttle
buses leave the campus at 17:00 in the evening and the personnel ones at 17:15.

Additional requirements
The necessary individual arrangements need to be discussed well in advance (3 months prior to
arrival).
Exchange students are allowed to take any courses at Fatih University unless these courses are
subject to restricted enrolments.
Academic Regulations
Other Grades
I: Incomplete is given to a student who fails to complete the required assignments for a course due
to illness or some other valid reason. If a student receives (I) grade for a course, the student must
complete the required assignments for the course and obtain a new grade within 15 days from the
date the grades are announced. Otherwise the grade (I) automatically becomes (FF). However, in a
case of a longer illness or other cases, the period specified can be extended until the beginning of the
following semester at the discretion of the department chair and the approval of the administrative
board.
S: Satisfactory is given to students who are successful in non-credit courses, dissertations and term
projects.
P: In Progress is given to students who demonstrate successful progress in non-credit courses
which have not been completed.
U: Unsatisfactory; is given to students who are unsuccessful in non-credit courses or preparatory
class courses.
NA: Not Attended is given to students who do not meet the attendance requirements or fail in
completing the necessary requirements in the practical sessions of a course. The NA grade is
considered as an “FF” in computing grade point average.
Grade Point Average (GPA) and Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA)

A student's academic performance is determined at the end of each semester in the forms of Grade
Point Average (GPA) and Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA). The total grade points for a course
are obtained by multiplying the grade point of the letter grade by the credit hours. In order to obtain
the GPA for any given semester, the total grade points earned in that semester are divided by the
total credit hours. The CGPA is calculated by taking into account all the credit courses taken by a
student since the beginning of his/her study in the University.
Examination System and Attendance
Mid-Term Examination
Every course has usually one mid-term in every semester. Exams are taken place in the mid-term
exams period – approx. 9 days include weekends- and no classes during the midterm days.
Mid-term period is declared in Academic Calendar of Fatih University. Schedule of the exams for each
course is announced one week before the exam period by corresponding deanship.
Mid-term exams are generally in written form. However, the instructor of the course may decide to
conduct the exam in the form of an oral exam, project or assignment on condition that s/he states it
on the course information form (syllabus).
Final Examination
Every course has final exams in every semester. Exams are taken place in the mid-term exams
period – approx. 12 days include weekends- and no classes during the final exam days.
The final exam period declared in Academic Calendar of Fatih University. Schedule of the exams for each course
is announced one week before the exam period by corresponding deanship.
Final exams are generally in written form. However, the instructor of the course may decide to conduct the
exam in the form of an oral exam, project or assignment on condition that s/he states it on the course
information form (syllabus).
Make-Up Examination
Make-up exams can be taken without registration by who fails the course – received FF as grade- or missed the
final exam. S/he cannot take make-up exam who failed due to attendance- received NA as grade.
Make-up exam period declared in Academic Calendar of Fatih University. Schedule of the exams for each course
is announced one week before the exam period by corresponding deanship.
Make-up exams are in written form.
Attendance
Each student must attend the courses, applied studies, laboratories, projects, seminars, workshops,
graduation projects and other studies of the semester s/he is enrolled for. Students who have not
attended at least 70% of theoretical courses and 80% of applied and laboratory studies are not
allowed to take the final exam of those courses.
