JASPER STUDENT CONGRESS If you are interested in becoming a member of Jasper Student Congress Executive Council, please complete the following application. Application packets are due NO LATER THAN Friday, March 27th at 4:30 pm. Important Dates: Read over each date carefully. Tuesday, February 24th o Application Packets available outside room 1043 and in the Student Center Tuesday, February 24th o Information Meeting in room 1100, the Presentation Room, 4:30 pm- 5:15pm Friday, March 27th o Application packets due NO LATER THAN 4:30pm. Late application packets will not be accepted – turn your packet in early if possible. Packets can be turned in to the Student Center or to Ms. Mallory in Room 1043. Thursday, April 9th & Friday, April 10th o Interviews will take place in room 1100 A (next to the presentation room) during each school day on Thursday and Friday (if needed). o You will receive your interview time, and assigned number, on Friday, April 3rd. o Interviews will be conducted with Ms. Mallory, one other teacher, and 3 current Executive Council Members. *** In the event that more information is needed, you could be called back for a second interview. Friday, April 17th o 2015-2016 Executive Council will be announced online, and listed according to your assigned number. Access the Jasper Website: On the left side, scroll down and click on “Jasper Event Calendar”. Find the current date (April 17th) and click on STUCO Results. Friday, May 1st o Required first meeting of the new 2015-2016 Executive Council o 4:30-6:30 pm in Ms. Mallory’s room, 1043 o Pizza and drinks will be served Friday, May 29th o Parent/Student Information Meeting o 5:30- 6:30 pm in Ms. Mallory’s room, 1043 The following items need to be placed in a folder/report cover/notebook/3-ring binder in the order listed! *Please note – there is a detailed explanation of each part of this application on the following pages – below is just a list of what to turn in*** 1. Event Pages You have been asked to include 2 pages in your application folder where you are going to plan out different types of events for Student Congress and/or Jasper High School. The event pages you will be planning are: Original School Event or New Tradition o This should be something new and creative. Think of an event, or new tradition, you would like to see happen at Jasper High School, and plan it! It can be a huge, blowout event or something small that the student body can still be a part of. If you started a new tradition at Jasper, what would it be and how would you go about getting it started? Community Service Event o Plan an event that the Executive Council, the STUCO club in general, or the entire school could participate in. Example: Feathers for a Feast- raise money for Thanksgiving meals in our community You can format these pages however you choose. Cover Page/Final Page Below you will find the instructions/requirements for the Cover Page and the Final Page of your application folder. Be creative and have fun with it! Creative Cover Page – “WHO ARE YOU?” This is your chance to show who you are – what defines you… Be creative o You can do a collage, draw, create on computer, scrapbook, type a poem, write an essay, etc. o You must include at least one current solo picture of yourself and your name. Final Page – JAGUARS “WHO ARE WE?” In your opinion, what defines the Jasper Jaguars? Be creative o Find a way to express on one page what the Jasper Jaguars mean to you. When you are finished with all of the parts of your application, please refer to page 3 and follow the guidelines regarding what order you need to place the items in your folder.
