KROSS INSTITUTE FOR CIVIL SERVICE (An Institution under the aegis of Karnataka Region Catholic Bishops' Council) Empowering Value Based Leaders for Nation Building Overview: KROSS Institute for Civil Service was founded in 2004. It is an institution under the aegis of Karnataka Region Catholic Bishops' Council (KRCBC) to fulfil the long cherished dream of the Bishops of Karnataka to start an institute to advance the career prospects of youth, who have the potential to join high ranking position in Public and Private sectors but cannot afford due to lack of means. There are many young who are bright, talented and have the tenacity to compete in various competitive exams and interviews but are handicapped to get access to quality coaching and up-to-date study materials. Some candidates opt out of the race due to lack of proper motivation or because of the mistaken notion that for a person with non-urban background, getting into higher positions in public and private sectors placement is an impossible dream. KROSS expects to bring Career Advancement Programme & coaching for competitive exams within easy reach of the candidates and hopes to fulfil this mission by providing top quality training at the lowest possible cost. Location: KROSS is established in Bangalore, the IT Capital of India known for its salubrious climate. The Institute is located in the heart of Cantonment area of Bangalore in an atmosphere of serene urban charm with lots of greenery around. The location and ambience around the Organization aids in learning process. Career Advancement Programme (CAP) Overview: Career Advancement to the top positions in Public and Private sectors is very challenging. It is more about accountability and contributing to the society. The prestige and honour associated with the top management position in a company, or an industry or bureaucratic positions like IAS, IPS, IFS may be a vestige since the British days. With nearly 25 other allied services in the bureaucracy, -which constitutes the steel frame of governance in India, responsible for enforcing law and order, implementing policy decisions, conceiving projects, instrumental in all the revenue administration of the State etc. And as one moves higher up the bureaucratic ladder, one may be heading any one of the myriad government departments ranging from tourism to education, higher education to urban infrastructure, agriculture to public works, housing and so on or a CEO of a corporate company . Career Advancement involves diversity of skills, leadership abilities and ability to manage challenging tasks and the job along with social pride and prestige derives satisfaction within an individual by serving the society. Who can join Career Advancement Program(CAP): Any Graduate or Post Graduate who qualifies all the norms set by the public or private authority like UPSC/ KPSC /Banks/ Insurance etc., and has the 3 D's (Strong - Desire, Decision and Determination) coupled with patience and humility can become an officer at the highest level. What leads a candidate to transcend the barriers to reach the top coveted post is nothing but “blood, sweat and tears coupled with a monastic approach to discipline and self-belief”. UPSC/KPSC Exam Pattern: It is a 3 stage examination consists of Preliminary Exam, Main Exam and Interview. The Institute has a state-of-the-art infrastructure, well equipped class rooms with LCD Projectors, High Quality Audio Speakers, LED TV etc The Institute has a well equipped library and reading room. The Institute has a well furnished prayer room for the students to use it for prayer and meditation. Workshops for students on Personality Development, Public Speaking, Communication Skills by Eminent Professors Separate hostel facilities for boys and girls would be arranged. The fees to these hostels to be paid directly by the students to the hostels as applicable. CAP Courses: 1. FULL TIME COURSE : This course is meant for Graduates/Post Graduates who would like to take various competitive Examinations. The course begins in July every year and goes up to May, the next year. 2. WEEKEND COURSE KROSS conducts a tailor made competitive Exam Coaching (Weekend Batch) Programme for working professionals, students who are pursuing Graduation and Post Graduation or those who can't attend classes on daily basis. 3. ORIENTATION PROGRAMME Orientation Programmes are conducted for High School, PUC and Degree Students. The Students are given orientation for Career Advancement and they are familiarized with syllabus and preparation strategies for competitive examinations. Books and Materials: The Institute provides complete study materials for the students who are selected for the Full Time Course. The students should bear the cost of photocopy of books and materials. Important handouts will be given to the students by the Institute . Selection Process: The Institute selects candidates as a part of Career Advancement Programme. The selection of students is on the basis of Written Exam and Personality Test. The candidates seeking to enroll for selection process can fill in the application with required certificates and enclosures and submit the application along with relevant documents to the Diocesan Youth Director/Regional Youth Director/Diocesan Social Work Director or the Institute. The Eligible students will be called for written exam and those students who clear the written exam will be called for the Personality Test for the final selection. Note: Candidates who have appeared for their final semester exam and are waiting for the results are also eligible to apply. Students who require hostel facilities should pay 50% of Food & Accommodation fees before joining the hostel or as prescribed by the hostels. Students will be facilitated in accommodating in hostels near to the Institute; they need to take a decision on the hostel facilities & affordability according to their financial situation. Pattern and Syllabus for written exam: The written exam consists of both objective and descriptive questions. The objective questions would be from General Studies & Current Affairs. The descriptive question will test the writing skill, knowledge, content and logical construction of sentences.
