Dear Purple Lady! Thank you so much for registering for The Leeds
Dear Purple Lady! Thank you so much for registering for The Leeds Midnight Walk in aid of St. Gemma’s Hospice, which will take place on Saturday 16 May 2015. The walk starts and finishes (you come back the same way you go out) at ‘Xercise 4 Less’ gym on Kirkstall Road in Kirkstall (in between the Viaduct and the cinema complex). Registration will be open from 8.00pm on Saturday 16 May 2015 where there will be a brilliant party atmosphere awaiting you with entertainment, live music, face painting and stalls. It is essential that you register your arrival on the night, before you set off on the walk (please register by your own surname). There will be hot food vendors on site so you can buy a hot snack on the evening to give you that extra energy for your challenge ahead. You are advised to bring additional food and drink as required to keep you going en-route. Before you set off, a group warm up session will begin at 9.45pm, getting everyone loosened up for the start of the walk! Toilets will be available at the start/finish venue and at the half way points where you can have a drink, quick energy snack and visit the loo. On completion of the walk there will be a complimentary snack and hot drink for each walker, but please note you must register back in so we know you are safe. Please wear suitable footwear and clothing (trainers or walking shoes are recommended), details of which can be found on the midnight walk website under ‘Training Tips’. Free parking is available behind the gym but as always we do encourage you to car share as parking will be limited. Included with this letter is: A t-shirt, which we encourage you to wear on the night & during your training. A sponsor form. Fundraising tips. A route map on the reverse of this letter (please bring this with you on the night). A St Gemma’s collection bag for any items you may want to donate, please drop the bag into one of our shops or call Sarah on 0113 218 5558 to arrange collection from your home. Don’t forget to create an online sponsorship page via www.virginmoneygiving.com as this is by far the best way to raise money. You can email the link to everyone you know and it means you don’t have to chase your sponsors after the event, the money comes directly to our bank – easy peasy! We are also looking for male and female volunteers who will be able to help with stewarding, registration points and refreshments. If you know anyone who might like to help out please pass on my contact details and ask them to get in touch as soon as possible. Perhaps your partner wants to help so they can drive your tired feet home when you complete the walk? St. Gemma’s Hospice provides free specialist medical and nursing care to local people with cancer and other life limiting illnesses, as well as support to their families. We care for more than 2,500 local people and their families each and every year. Daily running costs are £24,000 a day, most of which has to be raised from donations and fundraising events like The Leeds Midnight Walk. We look forward to seeing you on the big day but in the meantime good luck with your fundraising and training and thanks again!
