Chalk It Up Hanover 5th Annual Event! Saturday, June 13, 2015 – 10am-4pm Optional Theme: Summertime Fun Sidewalk spaces are various sizes and each registrant will choose their own sidewalk slab when they arrive at the registration table located in the Fountain Quadrant (Northwest corner of the square). Judging will not be based upon adherence to the theme but based upon the other criteria from years past as determined by the Chalk It Up Committee. Rules and Regulations: 1. Please try to keep your supplies contained near your space. 2. Please respect the other artists who are working near your space. Do not walk on other artist paintings or have open beverage containers that could spill and destroy someone’s artwork. 3. No fixatives may be used on your chalk drawings. 4. NO oil based chalk or pastels. 5. No music allowed unless you wear headphones. 6. Maximum of 5 people per sidewalk spot. If the ages of the group span more than one category it will be judged as a group. 7. No drawing on trees, buildings, or surfaces other than designated sidewalks areas. 8. Art must be family friendly. Nudity, profanity and political statements are not permitted and the event will be removed. The Chalk It Up committee has the right to disqualify and remove art that is not in compliance with rules and regulations. 9. Your photo will be taken unless you indicate otherwise to the photographer. 10. Members of the Chalk It Up committee will be at the registrations table for your assistance. Please do not hesitate to ask any questions or ask for assistance throughout the event. 11. 1/We will hold the Hanover Area Chamber of Commerce, the Borough of Hanover and the Chalk It Up committee harmless for event. Chalk will be provided at no charge, please feel free to bring your own materials as long as they follow the rules above. If you are creating an image originally created by another artist (living or deceased), please give credit to the artist and the title at the base of your design. Age Group: (Circle One) 5 and Under Age 6-9 Age 10-13 Age 14 – High School Senior Adult Family/Group Suggestions to keep you comfortable during the event: •Wear old clothes •Bring towels, knee pads, or another form of cushion for your knees while you’re working •Wear hats, visors, or other sun protections •Wear sunscreen •Bring large paint brushes for blending, smoothing; chalkboard erasers are good blending tools as well •Plan your design ahead of time •Bring gloves if you want to keep your hands clean. While you’re downtown be sure to check out the 2nd Saturday sales and deals going on in the downtown businesses! Also make sure you EAT! Drawing on the sidewalks can work up an appetite.
