Gordon Lithgow: Pharmacological modulation of lifespan in C. elegans
A KJELDGAARD LECTURE Thursday 19 March 2015 at 11:45 AIAS auditorium (1632-201) Same location for the PhD session A Kjeldgaard Lecture in Molecular Biology Gordon Lithgow The Buck Institute for research on aging, US Pharmacological modulation of lifespan in C. elegans; what it teaches us about aging Aging is the single largest risk factor for chronic human disease. However, aging is easily slowed in simple animals suggesting that targeting aging mechanisms may provide novel interventions for age-related diseases. We are using the simple nematode C. elegans to identify novel aging processes also promote protein homeostasis. We are further investigating the mechanisms at play and testing Host: Anders Olsen, Molecular intervention, Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics, Aarhus University The lecture will be followed a chalk-board session for PhD students The Kjeldgaard Lecture Series is organised by www.mbg.au.dk/lectures AU DEPT.
