Entry will be open to female members of the Mid-Maryland USBC Bowlers Association. Bowlers must be an Association
member two weeks prior to the tournament start (March 14, 2015).
This is a handicap tournament only; the only scratch fund is the optional All Events Scratch.
Each team shall consist of four bowlers. In order for a team to re-enter, two bowlers must be interchanged. Multiple
entries are allowed in team events. However, no more than two players on one team can place more than once in the prize
list for position standings. An entrant may participate in the doubles and singles event one time. In order for a bowler to
bowl in the doubles event, she must enter the singles event. If entering All Events and bowling multiple Team Events, the
first team events scores will be used to calculate All Events score.
The entry fees will be $15 per person, per event broken down: $9 lineage, $5 prize fund and $1 expense fee. The MidMaryland USBC BA will be contributing $6 per bowler per event to the prize fund. There are two optional $5 entry fees for
all events – both handicapped and scratch. All entry forms and full fees must be submitted to the tournament director by
March 25, 2015.
All event entries may be transferred to substitutes if a substitute bowls all three events for the same person and the original
entrant has paid the all events fee(s).
If tournament registration has not reached capacity, registration deadline will be extended to permit walk-ins. An
additional $1 per bowler per event fee will be assessed for walk-ins.
Average Requirement
a. Entrant shall use their highest certified MMBA predecessor organization (FWBA or CMDBA) average established in any
USBC certified league from the previous winter season 2013-2014 based on 21 games or more. If no MMBA (FWBA or
CMDBA) average, then highest USBC certified average from the previous winter season 2013-2014 based on 21 games
or more
b. USBC rule 319a-1 (summer average) will apply only if no certified winter average is available.
c. If an entrant has no previous season certified USBC average, they must use their highest current USBC certified average
for 21 games or more from any Association per USBC Rule 319a-1. In addition, entrant must furnish a league standing
sheet with written verification from their league secretary as of March 1, 2015.
d. If none of the above applies, entrant must use an average of 220 with no handicap.
e. Average verification request must be submitted with registration form; if not received by then, entrant shall use an
average of 220 with no handicap.
f. USBC rules 3I9a- 2 (10 pin up rule) and 319e will not apply.
Handicap shall be 90% of 220
Team captains may begin to check in their team 30 minutes before scheduled time to bowl and shall present USBC
membership cards for each member of their team. Singles and doubles entrants shall check in together and present their
USBC membership cards. Lane assignments will be provided at time of check-in.
The tournament director must be advised of substitutions at least one hour prior to scheduled time of bowling. Any bowler
arriving after the game has started will be allowed to bowl but her score will count beginning in the frame she enters the
game. No score will be given for frames missed. The doubles event will be bowled immediately followed by the singles
event.
A substitute will not be required to reimburse the original entrant with the entry fee paid, nor shall the substitute be
expected to give the original entrant any prize money or trophy she may win.
In the case of disability after the game has started, a substitute shall be allowed in the team and doubles events only. The
combined scores are to count in either of these events. If no substitute is available, only the actual score of the frames
bowled shall count. Scores bowled through the efforts of more than one individual shall not qualify for any USBC or
tournament individual award nor shall the score be included in the all events total.
All three games of each event will be bowled on the same pair of lanes as scheduled by the tournament manager.
Awards will be given for first place in each handicap event. In the case of a tie for first place in any event, co-champions will
be declared winners. See USBC rule 326b for duplication of personnel. Prizes will be paid at a ratio of one for each five
entries (1:5).
Tournament director shall decide any questions not covered by these rules.
Any protest affecting eligibility or playing rules must be confirmed in writing to the tournament director before the
tournament prize payments are made. Errors in scoring must be reported to the tournament director within 24 hours.
The entrants whose names appear hereon or their authorized replacements hereby agree that the Mid-Maryland USBC BA, Inc.
its officers and agents shall be liable only to the extent of returning entry fees if and when these entrants shall be prevented
from bowling any event in the tournament through premature termination of the tournament, which may be brought on by
war, national emergency or causes relating thereto or resulting there from fires, strikes, lockouts, labor difficulties or other
causes beyond the control of the Mid-Maryland USBC BA, Inc.
USBC Rules will prevail when not specifically covered in the above.
