Our theme this year is Riding the Waves of Change: Context, Culture, and Climate. This theme acknowledges that our work, and the environment in which we do it, is constantly changing. While we don’t always have control over it, we can choose to dive in, paddle hard, stand up, and engage with the shifting tides and, ultimately, work to impact the direction of the waves. We welcome proposals that address this theme by proposing topics that: Address emerging issues in our field, such as campus sexual assault, PREA, the use of technology in victimization, etc. Share innovative solutions that are working in your community, as you define community Address best practice or evidence-based approaches Engage new audiences and allies, including through the media, social media, etc. Incorporate an intersectional lens, inclusive of other forms of oppression, to our work Spark conversations about where our field is going or needs to go Build capacity for preventing and ending sexual violence Address preventing the perpetration of sexual violence We are particularly interested in workshop proposals that address the intersections of sexual violence, including the disproportionate rates of sexual violence among youth, elders, LGBTQ people, communities of color, people with disabilities, etc.; as well as intersections with other topics, including alcohol, housing, health, transportation, homelessness, poverty, gender inequality, etc. The presenter of accepted workshops will receive one (1) complimentary registration for the 2015 MNCASA Training Symposium and reimbursement for lodging and mileage expenses.
