INSURANCE - ARE YOU COVERED??
Thanks for considering entering MotorEx 2015. We look forward to your vehicle’s possible inclusion in Australia’s premier event. We
have prepared the following to help understand the insurance implications that exist for all entrants and their vehicle/s being displayed
at MotorEx.
1) Your vehicle (Property)
It is your responsibility to insure your own property. There are a number of insurers providing specialist car enthusiast cover for
vehicles of all types and standards. You should check with your insurer as to the extent of coverage that may currently exist on your
vehicle. Should you choose not to insure your vehicle please note that the Organiser is not responsible for any damage it may sustain
at MotorEx.
2) Public Liability
Your vehicle or display may cause injury or damage to others (or their property) during the course of MotorEx 2015. Public Liability
insurance may offer you protection should such claims arise.
Some issues to consider in deciding whether you should arrange a Public liability policy include:Is Your Vehicle Registered?
If your vehicle is registered, it will have a Compulsory Third Party bodily injury cover (CTP Green Slip/TAC Premium). This will cover you
for bodily injury claims arising from the use of the vehicle. It does not cover you for claims for Property Damage, nor does it cover you
for claims when the vehicle is on display and/or circumstances not directly involving the vehicle (eg: part of your vehicle’s display
falls and injures a person or damages their property).
Is Your Vehicle Unregistered?
You have no cover for bodily injury to third parties arising from the use of the vehicle. The other matters above also apply.
Your liability for things unrelated to the use of the car: Common Law holds you responsible if you, or your property causes bodily injury
or damage to the property of others. As a MotorEx entrant this includes events such as someone slipping over within your display zone
causing bodily injury or damage to their property.
Should I Purchase Public Liability Insurance?
The Organisers of MotorEx have arranged for an Exhibitors and Entrants Public Liability insurance facility through which you may
choose to purchase insurance cover. This cover is not automatically provided. It is a facility available to MotorEx entrants. You may
choose to avail yourself of this facility and purchase cover at your option and expense.
The policy that has been arranged for your consideration provides automatic protection for you should your vehicle be unregistered, as
long as it is not on a public road (where the law requires it must be registered),and also for liability for things unrelated to the use of
your car (as described above), from Bump-In to Bump-Out.
Please note that this Public Liability policy does not cover damage to your vehicle itself, as this Public Liability policy is not a
comprehensive motor vehicle insurance policy.
If you would like to know more about these issues and the cover available, please feel free to contact Andrew Herrett of Business
Insurance Australia P/L on (02) 9635 9800.
There are obviously terms and conditions which apply to all insurance policies. The cover available through this facility is no different. A
full policy wording is available prior to purchase for your review. Please also read the Terms and Conditions on page 4 of this document
in relation to insurance.
