WAIVER OF LIABILITY
For Participation in Events of the
2015 AUSKF Iaido Seminar, Taikai, Shinsa, and Jodo Workshop
I, the below signed Participant, intending to be legally bound, do hereby, for myself, my heirs,
assigns, executors and administrators, waive, release, and forever discharge any claims for
damages, illness, injuries and/or death which may hereafter accrue to me against Northern
California Iaido Association, the Northern California Kendo Federation (NCKF) and its affiliates,
The All United States Kendo Federation (AUSKF) and the San Jose City College _____, their
members, employees, instructors, agents, invited Sensei and participants in the 2015 AUSKF
Iaido/Jodo Seminar, taikai and shinsa in San Jose, CA for any and all damages which may be
sustained or suffered by me in connection with, in association with, travel to or from or
participation in the 2015 AUSKF Iaido/Jodo Seminar, taikai and shinsa.
I further agree to indemnify and hold harmless Northern California Iaido Association (of the
NCKF) and its affiliates, The AUSKF, and the San Jose City College, their members, employees,
instructors, agents, invited Sensei and participants in the 2015 AUSKF Iaido/Jodo Seminar,
taikai and shinsa for any claims I may have outlined herein.
I further agree that All claims or disputes arising out of or related to my participation in this event
shall be decided by binding arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association
(“AAA”) pursuant to the Federal arbitration Act 9 U.S.C. 1, et seq. and in accordance with the
Commercial Arbitration Rules of the AAA and agreeable to all parties.

AUSKF 2015 IAIDO SHINSA WRITTEN TEST QUESTIONS
Answer two questions from the group of questions for the rank for which you are
testing.
Submit your answers with your application or email them to pam_a_parker@yahoo.com
(shinsa administrator), or bring them to the seminar and turn them in to the shinsa
administrator.

2. Describe the proper way of gripping the katana when cutting.
3. Why are you studying Iaido? What do you hope to accomplish?
Shodan Candidates:
1. Explain what is meant by the term saya biki. Describe its use in one All Japan Kendo
Federation Iaido kata.
2. Draw a simple diagram of a katana, label as many parts as you can.
3. What is kirioroshi? Describe its use in one All Japan Kendo Federation Iaido kata.
Nidan Candidates:
1. Discuss zanshin. Describe its use in one All Japan Kendo Federation Iaido kata.
2. The blade of the katana is divided into 3 parts; describe the use of each part.
3. What is meant by the term Iai-goshi? Describe its use in one All Japan Kendo
Federation Iaido kata.
Sandan Candidates:
1. What is metsuke? Describe its use in one All Japan Kendo Federation Iaido kata.
2. Describe how to clean a sword (shinken and/or iaito).
3. Discuss jo-ha-kyu.

1. Define hasuji and discuss its importance in Iaido.
