Get Bulletin - Pacific Crossroads Church
Sunday, March 22, 2015 Reflections If you can say that Christ is your all, then your treasure will never be gone; for He will never leave you, nor forsake you. Not only in this world, but also in that which is to come, you shall be happy and blessed, for you shall be crowned with glory, and made to sit with Christ on His throne for ever. Charles Spurgeon There is no such thing as not worshipping. Everybody worships. The only choice we get is what to worship. David Foster Wallace The bride eyes not her garment, but her dear Bridegroom’s face; I will not gaze at glory, but on my King of grace. Not at the crown He giveth, but on His pierced hand; The Lamb is all the glory of Emmanuel’s land. All: Let the peoples praise You, O God; let all the peoples praise You! Offerings of the People The offering is a way for followers of Jesus to support the mission and ministry of the church. We offer a sacrificial portion of our resources – time, talents, possessions – as an act of faith and gratitude in response to God’s grace. If you are a guest, we are glad you are here today. Please feel no obligation to give. God Speaks to Us Sermon Scripture – John 12:1-8 Six days before the Passover, Jesus therefore came to Bethany, where Lazarus was, whom Jesus had raised from the dead. 2 So they gave a dinner for Him there. Martha served, and Lazarus was one of those reclining with Him at table. 3 Mary therefore took a pound of expensive ointment made from pure nard, and anointed the feet of Jesus and wiped His feet with her hair. The house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume. 4 But Judas Iscariot, one of His disciples (he who was about to betray Him), said, 5 “Why was this ointment not sold for three hundred denarii and given to the poor?” 6 He said this, not because he cared about the poor, but because he was a thief, and having charge of the moneybag he used to help himself to what was put into it. 7 Jesus said, “Leave her alone, so that she may keep it for the day of My burial. 8 For the poor you always have with you, but you do not always have Me.” 1 SermonChrist Our Treasure Alex Watlington Questions People Ask About Our Church Community Do I fit here? We are a patchwork crowd of imperfect people from all over L.A., from all walks of life, from those who long to know God more deeply to those who wonder if God is even there. If you are looking for a place to belong, you are in good company. Finding Community Does anybody want to know me? As people who have been set free by the gospel, we want to know and love one another as we are known and loved by Jesus. Am I needed? Absolutely. Whether you are an introvert or an extrovert, a newcomer or an old-timer, this community needs your unique gifts, talents, and perspectives, both for our community’s health and for your personal growth. Why commit? In every relationship, growth requires commitment. We live in a transient city; joining this community provides a spiritual family that walks with and cares for you. How do I learn more?
