Location
The Holiday Program is based on the Junior
School campus; however, some activities
are held at the Senior School, so please
check your confirmation email carefully after
booking for venue details. Maps of the school
are available on the Holiday Program page of
the Abbotsleigh website.

Bookings
All bookings received will be confirmed via
email within five working days. No bookings
will be confirmed without receipt of payment.
Enrolments will be processed on a ‘first come
first served’ basis for courses with limited
places available.
There are no refunds or credits for bookings
unless a medical certificate is provided.
Requests for a refund must be in writing to
the Holiday Program Coordinator, attached
with a copy of the medical certificate.
Requests must be received no later than two
weeks after the final Holiday Program day.
Each course runs subject to sufficient
numbers or enrolments. If a course is
cancelled, notification will be made and a
full refund issued in these instances.
Arrivals/Departures
It is a legal requirement that parents sign
their child in and out each day. Children will
only be permitted to leave the centre when
accompanied by an adult nominated on
the enrolment form. Written notification is
required to allow another person to collect
your child/children.
Late fee policy
Parents arriving to collect their child/children
after 6 pm will be charged a late fee of $1 per
minute per child for the first five minutes, and
then $5 per minute per child thereafter.
What to bring on the day
A list of what to bring is outlined in this
brochure under each specific workshop.
All children must bring their own morning
tea, lunch and any snacks/drinks for the day
(please NO nut products). Fresh water will be
made available at all times.
Children are encouraged to wear sun safe
clothing at all times throughout the year – a
hat for outdoor play, a shirt with sleeves and
closed in shoes. Sunscreen will be provided
for all children; however, it is recommended
that sunscreen is applied prior to attending.
Please label all items. The Holiday Program
staff will not be responsible for missing items.
Allergies
If your child is known to have a nut or
anaphylactic reaction or episode to any
allergy, it is imperative the parents provide
the Abbotsleigh Holiday Program with a
current, colour, action plan (include a recent
colour photo).
Swimming
Children enrolled in the Tennis program may
swim every day in Abbotsleigh’s Aquatic
Centre. Those enrolled in Junior Activities will
walk to the Senior School for a swim in the
Aquatic Centre on Wednesdays and Fridays.
To allow your child to participate please
complete the swimming section on the
application form. Children who are nominated
as swimmers will need to complete a deep
water survival challenge to determine their
proficiency. If successful, children will be
issued a blue wrist band. Children who are
nominated as non swimmers, and who are
permitted to participate in swimming, will be
provided with a yellow wrist band and will only
be allowed in the shallow area.
Full supervision is provided by staff with
accredited Royal Life Saving skills.
Child Care Benefit
The AbbSchool Holiday Program is an
approved child care provider and those
attending our Junior Activities program are
eligible to claim the Child Care Benefit (CCB)
and/or Child Care Rebate. To receive these
benefits you must provide us with your family
and child’s Customer Reference Number
(CRN) and parent and child’s dates of birth.
To receive the CCB and for more information,
please contact the Department of Human
Services on 136 150.
Photo permission
From time to time photographs are taken of
participants in AbbSchool Holiday Program
activities. These photographs may be used
in Abbotsleigh publications and on the
Abbotsleigh website. Photographs will not
be used for any other purposes without prior
consent and students in photos will not be
personally identified. If you do not wish your
child’s photograph to be used in this way,
please contact Karlie Coulton.

After 4 pm during school holidays, calls will be

JUNIOR ACTIVITIES
Weeks 1-4 every day | 7.30 am-6 pm | $60
per day | Boys and girls aged 5-11
Junior School campus

Every day at Junior Activities is fun filled with
something for everyone. Children will enjoy art
and craft, games, cooking, sport, party days,
swimming on Wednesdays and Fridays, and
a barbecue on Friday. Each week has a new,
exciting theme with related fun activities.
Please indicate clearly on the form if you
would like to attend Junior Activities or the
excursion on Wednesday.
What to bring: Hat, painting shirt, sunscreen
and named water bottle. For recreational
swimming at lunchtime on Wednesdays and
Fridays children are to wear a swimming cap
and costume. T-shirts and board shorts are
not permitted. Please bring own floaties and
goggles if required.
EXCURSIONS
PLEASE REMEMBER: Children must arrive
by 8.45 am for a 9 am departure on excursion
days. No responsibility is taken for late
arrivals. Children may bring spending money;
however, it is at the discretion of staff whether
your child will be allowed to purchase items
on excursions. Children will not be allowed
to purchase lunch. Before and after care will
also be available from 7.30-9am and 3-6pm
and is included in the excursion price.
The anticipated number of students is 21
with three staff members attending for all
excursions. A risk assessment has been
prepared for all excursions. If you would like
to view the risk assessment please ask the
Holiday Program Coordinator.
What to bring: Pack a hat, raincoat, morning
tea, lunch and drinks in a backpack which
your child will be able to carry by him/herself
during the day.
EXCURSION: STRIKE BOWLING AND
LASER TAG
Week 1 Wednesday 29 June | 8:45 am-3 pm
$75 | Boys and girls aged 8-14
Drop off Junior School campus
Travel by bus to Strike Bowling and Laser
Skirmish in Moore Park for a game of ten pin
bowling. Then, head next door for a game
of Laser Skirmish, where you’ll get to battle
it out against your friends. Have lunch in
the Entertainment Quarter before returning
to school.
EXCURSION: INFLATABLE WORLD
Week 2 Wednesday 6 July | 8:45 am-3 pm
$70 | Boys and girls aged 5-11
Drop off Junior School campus
Travel by bus to Inflatable World at Castle Hill
Indoor Centre where you will bounce and jump
your way through one of Australia’s largest
indoor inflatable playgrounds! Students will
have lunch at a nearby park before returning
to School.
Students must wear socks whilst playing at
Inflatable World, No socks, no play
EXCURSION: MARIAN ST THEATRE:
WIND IN THE WILLOWS
Week 2 Friday 8 July | 8:45 am-3 pm | $70

School campus
Travel to the Paterson Centre at Knox
Grammar School to watch the stage
production of Wind in the Willows. Toot toot!
Join the classic adventure with Ratty, Mole
and Badger and the naughty Weasles who
want to take over Toad Hall. Help Ratty and
Mole save eccentric and boastful Toad from
himself. A new, fast paced, fun adaptation
of Kenneth Grahame’s immortal story of life
on the riverbank. After the performance,
students will walk to the Abbotsleigh Senior
School campus for a Sausage Sizzle!
Please note students will only need to
bring recess if they wish to have a sausage
at lunch.
EXCURSION: IMAX THEATRE: FINDING DORY
Week 3 Monday 11 July | 8:45 am-3 pm
$70 | Boys and girls aged 5-11
Drop off Junior School campus
Travel by bus to Darling Harbour where our
first stop will be to see Finding Dory on the
massive screen at the IMAX Theatre. After
the movie we’ll head to the Darling Quarter
playground where there is a lot of fun to
be had with water games, climbing ropes,
swings, slides and flying foxes. Every child
will receive a small popcorn and juice at the
movies, please contact the Holiday
Program Coordinator if your child has
any dietary requirements.
EXCURSION: DISNEY ON ICE:
MAGICAL ICE FESTIVAL
Week 3 Wednesday 13 July | 8:45 am-3 pm

Travel by bus to Qudos Bank Arena at Olympic
Park to watch Disney On Ice: Magical Ice
Festival! You’ll be whisked away into the
wintery world of the number one animated
feature film of all time, Disney’s Frozen, to
join royal sisters Elsa and Anna, the hilarious
snowman Olaf, rugged mountain-man Kristoff
and his loyal reindeer Sven as they help the
sisters along the way in a story full of action,
adventure and magic. Experience Disney’s
The Little Mermaid, get tangled up with a
chorus of Rapunzel and her charming ally
Flynn from Disney’s Tangled and get swept
away by Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. Get
into the spirit of the day and come dressed as
your favourite Disney character!
TENNIS
Weeks 1-3 every day | 9 am-3 pm | $175 for
a week, or $40 per day Monday to Thursday,
Friday $45 | Boys and girls aged 5-16
Senior School campus
The tennis program caters for beginners to
advanced players. Each child will be graded
and grouped according to age and ability by
the coaching staff. The program covers stroke
technique, footwork, match play, scoring and
etiquette. Coaching methods and activities
include continuous tennis for beginners to
more complex drills for advanced players.
Round robin matches, mini tournaments
with prizes and a barbecue lunch will finish
the week. Includes a daily swim before lunch.
The tennis program will be held on the Senior
School tennis courts. If you book your child into
before/after care, there will be a walking group
each day to and from the Senior School, which
will depart Junior School Poole House at 8:45 am.

What to bring: Children should wear sun safe
clothing to tennis, with a shirt that covers
the back and shoulders, a hat is compulsory
(no hat, no play), sunscreen, a named water
bottle and tennis racquet are also required.
Racquets may be borrowed if you do not own
one. For recreational swimming at lunchtime
children are to wear a swimming cap and
costume. T-shirts and board shorts are not
permitted. Please bring own floaties and
goggles if required.

KIDS IN THE KITCHEN: CUPCAKE PARTY
Week 1 Tuesday 28 June | 9 am-3 pm
$70 | Boys and girls aged 8-12
Senior School campus
Do you love to cook? Do you have a sweet
tooth? Learn the basic skills for creating
professional tasting and looking cupcakes!
Students will learn how to mix and bake moist
cupcakes with a fine crumb, make and pipe
the perfect buttercream, roll and cut fondant
icing, and create decorations to impress your
friends and family!
What to bring: A hat for play, a named drink
bottle, morning tea and lunch, container to
bring cupcakes home.
ABBSCHOOL DANCE PRO CAMP
Week 1 Wednesday 29 June to Friday 1 July

Friday | $395 | Experienced dancers aged
12-16 years or as approved by the Dance
Coordinator | Junior School campus
Immerse yourself in a jam-packed, boot camp
experience designed to challenge, inform and
expand versatility and interest in all areas of
dance. Dancers will participate in 4-6 dance
classes per day, focusing on strength and
conditioning, stretching, limber and relaxation
techniques, alongside intensive workshops
in styles such as ballet, contemporary, hip
hop, traditional and modern jazz. Campers
will stay in Abbotsleigh’s state-of-the-art
boarding houses. Costs include all meals,
accommodation, professional teaching and all
activities. Please see separate flyer enclosed
for more detailed information on activities
across the three days and what to bring.

CLAYMATION WORKSHOP
Week 1 Thursday 30 June | 9 am-3 pm
$80 | Boys and girls aged 8-12
Junior School campus
The qualified professionals from Digi Ed
will be conducting this exciting Claymation
Workshop, where you’ll create your own clay
figures and make up a story for them to act
in. This course allows participants to write
a narrative, create clay characters, design
backdrops, shoot footage, edit footage, add
titles, add music, add sound effects and
burn the finished product to a DVD. Digi Ed
provides all materials, including laptops and
cameras, and each participant will receive
their own DVD at the end of the workshop.
What to bring: A named drink bottle,
morning tea and lunch.
SOCCER CLINIC
Week 1 Friday 1 July | 9 am-3 pm
$65 | Boys and girls aged 8-12 years
Senior School campus
Both the beginner and more experienced
soccer player will be catered for at this
exciting clinic. The program will be adjusted
to suit ability level and each player will learn
and build upon the skills needed to play
soccer through fun drills and games. Players
will have the opportunity to go for a swim
before lunch at the Abbotsleigh Aquatic
Centre, please pack swimmers, towel,
swimming cap and goggles.
What to bring: A hat (no hat, no play), a
named drink bottle, morning tea and lunch.
Please wear comfortable clothing to move
around in.
CREATIVE SEWING
Week 2 Monday 4 July- Wednesday 6 July
9 am-3 pm | $150 course | Boys and girls
aged 11+ | Senior School campus
Over three days and in a relaxed
environment, students will become familiar
with the sewing machine, sewing to a
pattern and basic garment construction.
Students can choose to make winter
pyjamas, tracksuit pants, tops or hoodies.
Unfinished work from previous programs
may also be completed.
What to bring: All requirements will
be emailed to you prior to the program
starting, including information about
patterns and material.
CODE CAMP: BEGINNER AND
ADVANCED PROGRAM

Code Camp believes that every Australian
school student should have the opportunity
to learn to code and build apps. Over our fourday school holiday program, our incredibly
engaged Code Camp students experience:
• Learning to code and build apps
• User experience
• Entrepreneurship
• Gamification
• Creativity and brainstorming ideas
• Logic, problem solving and
computational thinking
• Wireframing and design
Code Camp has been featured on Channel 9
and Nickelodeon, and has taught more than
1,400 students in the past 18 months. At the
end of the Code Camp students would have
built their own app, which can be played on
a computer or downloaded onto personal
iPhones or iPads! We cannot wait to have fun
and build apps with you.
An Advanced Code Camp program will also
be offered these upcoming holidays. The
Advanced Code Camp is for students who
have previously completed Beginner Code
Camp. We work on the skills developed in
Beginner with increasingly complex logic,
more code, behaviours and problem solving.
What to bring: A hat for play, morning tea,
lunch and a named water bottle.

child to attend the Beginner or Advanced
Code Camp program.
RHYTHMIC GYMNASTICS
Week 3 Tuesday 12 July | 9 am-3 pm
$70 | Boys and girls aged 8-12
Senior School campus
Have you ever wanted to try the sport
of rhythmic gymnastics? Why not come
along and spend an action-packed day of
dance, ballet, acrobatics and games, all
whilst twirling a ribbon, or trying one of the

many apparatuses involved in Rhythmic
Gymnastics. Learn the basics and have fun
whilst getting fit and working on your balance
and flexibility.
What to bring: A named water bottle, a hat
for play, morning tea and lunch. Please wear
comfortable clothing to move around in.
JUNIOR DRAMA FUN
Week 3 Thursday 14 July | 9 am-3 pm
$65 | Junior School campus
Junior Drama Fun is designed for creativity
and imagination. Students will learn how
to stretch their imaginations on stage with
games such as What am I?, What is it?, What
are you doing?, Space Jump and I am… This
is a wonderful workshop that will inspire and
provoke little minds and introduce them to the
magic that anything can be created for stage,
with a sprinkle of imagination.
What to bring: A hat for play, morning tea and
lunch and a named water bottle.
