The GREAT The GREAT
The Most Holy Trinity 30th & 31st May 2015 Blessing Prayer The GREAT Commission This day is full of beauty and adventure, help me Lord to be fully alive to it all. During this day, may I become a more thoughtful person, a more prayerful person, a more generous and kindly person. Help me not to be turned in on myself but to be sensitive and helpful to others. Let me do nothing today that will hurt anyone, but let me help at least a little, to make life more pleasant for those I meet. When night comes, may I look back on this day without regrets; and may nobody be unhappy because of anything I have said or done or failed to do. Thoughts of Fr Francis Jordan Without humility you will never grow in holiness. Therefore, be quite humble. Wake Up The World 2015 Year of Consecrated Life Lord God, bless this day for me and all of us. Make it a day in which we grow a little more like your Son, and gentle as Mary His Mother. Amen. Fr George celebrated 21 years on 28 May, and Fr Robert 17 years on 30 May, since their ordination. Congratulations and thank you Fr George and Fr Robert, especially in this Year of Consecrated Life. 1 Keenan Street Mona Vale NSW 2103 • Tel:9997 7311 • Fax 9012 0509 • email: office@pittwaterparish.org • website: www.pittwaterparish.org The Most Holy Trinity 30th & 31st May 2015 We Pray for Deceased Anniversary VINNIES WINTER APPEAL 2015 The weather is turning cold and the homeless are looking for a safe place to settle for the night. In Sydney and other cities Vinnies Night Patrol vans provide some of them with blankets, a cup of tea, coffee or soup and a sandwich. The queues at the van are getting progressively longer each night. Apart from the homeless there are many people that need help at this time of the year. The disadvantaged often need help with utility bills. Heating the main room of their house and cooking hot meals increase electricity and gas bills. Sickness with colds and influenza means increasing medical expenditure. Vinnnes website has a sad story tied to its advertisement for donations to the Winter Appeal 2015. It tells us of a once happily married woman called Grace whose marriage broke down leaving her with one child, Jack, who was found to be autistic. He was very difficult to communicate with in the best of times and did not connect at all in the worst of times. Soon after, to make matters worse, Grace was retrenched and found life to be tough: sitting at home looking after Jack and not being able to keep up expensive treatment for him. Vinnies with the help of donors was able to rebuild the lives of Grace and Jack. You can help us make a real difference to someone's life by giving money and hope to the needy this winter. Bede Murray The Avalon Conference of St Vincent de Paul meets at 5pm and at every 2nd and 4th Tuesday evening in the Church Hall. Prospective members are welcome. The Piety Store at Maria Regina, Avalon will be open by special request. Please call the Brookvale Centre 9905 0424. A Reminder “TINNIES FOR VINNIES” for the first weekend of the month, 2nd and 3rd May 2015. Many thanks to the kind parishioners for their kind donations already. Another suggestion was to donate personal items, viz toiletries etc., as these items represent luxuries for those most in need. Vinnies will leave their bins out every first weekend of the month. Many thanks. Sue Bowra from Our Schools Mater Maria Catholic College Our thanks to the community for supporting Friday evening’s Mater Maria Festival. Our parish is now able to process your credit card planned giving donations directly through the parish office rather than through Ezidebit. By doing this, we do not have to pay the service fees to the external company. If you are contributing to our planned giving either weekly, fortnightly, monthly or yearly using a credit card, we would appreciate you contacting the parish office to allow us to process the payments or completing a planned giving form, found at the back of the Church. If you are contributing via a bank account, you may consider switching to a credit card, or to debit directly to the parish. This is to reduce the service fee paid by the parish. For more details please contact the parish office on 9997 7311. B & M O’Connor The Most Holy Trinity 30th & 31st May 2015 Walk of Joy 23 May 2015 The Most Holy Trinity 30th & 31st May 2015 Church to Church “Walk of Joy an Annual Event?” Seems that’s on Father George’s mind. Last Saturday, saw our Parish Priest brimming with his usual vitality when he lead 89 of us out on the promised “stroll” from Church to Church. A couple of hours later we arrived at Sacred Heart Church, where we had been promised a “hearty breakfast”. Thanks to Nicole and Jo and their generous team the Parish Centre had been transformed into a first-class café. Everyone was amply rewarded for what had been a considerable effort. Father George even gave us all a certificate! Thanks to all of you who made it such a good experience. Same time next year? Seems so, if you ask Fr George. John Ayliffe and the PPC team. The Most Holy Trinity 30th & 31st May 2015 The Living Word First Reading Dt 4:32-34. 39-40 A reading from the book of Deuteronomy The Lord himself is God in heaven above and on earth below: there is no other. Moses said to the people: ‘Put this question to the ages that are past, that went before you, from the time God created man on earth: Was there ever a word so majestic, from one end of heaven to the other? Was anything ever heard? Did ever a people hear the voice of the living God speaking from the heart of the fire, as you heard it, and remain alive? Has any god ventured to take to himself one nation from the midst of another by ordeals, signs, wonders, war with mighty hand and outstretched arm, by fearsome terrors – all this that the Lord your God did for you before your eyes in Egypt? ‘Understand this today, therefore, and take it to heart: The Lord is God indeed, in heaven above as on earth beneath, he and no other. Keep his laws and commandments as I give them to you today so that you and your children may prosper and live long in the land that the Lord your God gives you for ever.’ The word of the Lord Responsorial Psalm Ps 32:4-6. 9. 18-20. 22. R. v.12 sharing his sufferings so as to share his glory. The word of the Lord See Rv 1:8 Gospel Acclamation Alleluia, alleluia! Glory to the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit: to God who is, who was, and who is to come. Alleluia! Gospel The eleven disciples set out for Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had arranged to meet them. When they saw him they fell down before him, though some hesitated. Jesus came up and spoke to them. He said, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go, therefore, make disciples of all the nations; baptise them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teach them to observe all the commands I gave you. And know that I am with you always; yes, to the end of time.’ The Gospel of the Lord The word of the Lord is faithful and all his works to be trusted. The Lord loves justice and right and fills the earth with his love. (R) REFLECTION by Dianne Bergant CSS The Lord looks on those who revere him, on those who hope in his love, to rescue their souls from death, to keep them alive in famine. (R) Our soul is waiting for the Lord. The Lord is our help and our shield. May your love be upon us, O Lord, as we place all our hope in you. (R) Second Reading Rom 8:14-17 A reading from the letter of St Paul to the Romans You have received the Spirit that makes you God’s own children, and in that Spirit we call God: Father, our Father! Everyone moved by the Spirit is a son of God. The spirit you received is not the spirit of slaves bringing fear into your lives again; it is the spirit of sons, and it makes us cry out, ‘Abba, Father!’ The Spirit himself and our spirit bear united witness that we are children of God. And if we are children we are heirs as well: heirs of God and coheirs with Christ, Mt 28:16-20 A reading from the holy Gospel according to Matthew Baptise them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. (R.) Happy the people the Lord has chosen to be his own. With his word the heavens were made, by the breath of his mouth all the stars. He spoke; and they came to be. He commanded; they sprang into being. (R) and that God is for us. Everything that we know about God declares that God is passionately in love with us, boundlessly so! © Dianne Bergant CSS The feast of the Holy Trinity brings us face to face with the foundation of our faith. The readings for today provide answers to the question: Who is God? They can really only suggest something about the mystery of God, and they can do this only indirectly. They call to mind some of the wonders that God has accomplished for us and in us. It is through reflection on these gracious divine acts that we can get glimpses of God. The psalm declares that the harmony and interdependence that we see in creation point to a majestic creator responsible for it all. The account of the history of God’s people reveals a God who desires to establish an intimate relationship with them, enters their history as protector and guide, and forgives disloyalty. Finally, Jesus teaches that God sent him into the world to save it, has made us adopted children through the Holy Spirit, and will ultimately clothe us in divine glory. It is from his teaching that we hear that the Son was sent by the Father, the Spirit, which was also his Spirit, proceeded from the Father and from him. From our own experience, we know that God creates, because we are immersed in creation. We know that God saves, because we have been freed from the bondage of our own demons. Our experience tells us that God is with us, Liturgy for the Week Ordinary Time 9 01/6 Monday - St justine, martyr Tobit 1:3, 2:1-8; Mk 12:1-12 02/6 Tuesday Ordinary Time 9 Tobit 2:9-14; Mk 12:13-17 03/6 Wednesday Charles Lwanga & companions, martyrs Tobit 3:1-11, 16-17; Mk 12:18-27 04/6 Thursday Ordinary Time 9 Tobit 11:5-17; Mk 12:35-37 05/6 Friday St Boniface, bishop, martyr Tobit 11:5-17; Mk 12:35-37 06/6 Saturday Ordinary Time 9 Tobit 12:1, 5-15, 20; Mk 12:38-44 The Most Holy Trinity Anointing Mass At Nursing Homes And Retirement Villages George Mocklar Hostel Tuesday 2nd June at 1.30 pm Anointing Mass Ocean View Nursing Home Tuesday 2nd June at 2.45 pm Anointing & Communion Mona Vale Nursing Home Tuesday 2nd June at 3.30 pm Anointing & Communion Minkara Nursing Home Tuesday 16th June at 11.00 am Anointing Mass Seabeach Nursing Home Tuesday 16th June at 1.00pm Anointing & Communion 30th & 31st May 2015 Day retreat: “Love is his meaning” Julian of Norwich An opportunity to discover more about this little known this little-known 14th Century English mystic.
