Tear Fund Sunday – Please note that this year our Tear Fund Sunday is - March 1st @ 11.00am and will be followed by Bread and Cheese Lunch. Women’s World Day of Prayer – Friday 6th March, St. Andrew's Church, Clayhidon at 2.00pm. Please come if you can. The service has been prepared by Christian women of the Bahamas. 2012 We continue to remember Mark Buff in our prayers even though he has asked for his name to be taken off the ‘prayer list’. He says‘I wondered if you would now like to take out the prayer request for me? I feel so very much better now and although I’m not quite 100% yet, I think it would be better for people to pray for others who are in much more need. I am so grateful for the prayer that has gone up for me and am thrilled that our Father has wonderfully answered and continues to help me, daily. With our thanks and love in Jesus’. Mark A ‘Prayer request’ box can be found in the foyer at RML. This has been provided by the Ladies Prayer Group. All requests will be treated in confidence. (see details under Chris Menzfeld) Jonathan’s Jottings Jesus in the Everyday In Luke 5:1-11 we read of how Jesus came to teach beside the shores of the Sea of Galilee. Whilst there he climbed aboard Simon Peter’s boat in order to gain a vantage point for continuing to deliver His message to the masses now assembled. Having concluded His message, Jesus turned to a weary Simon and instructed him to once more launch his nets into the deep waters. Simon chose to trust Jesus over his feelings of tiredness and his experience as a fisherman that said, ‘this isn’t going to work.’ The result: Jesus performs an incredible miracle as a haul of fish is caught that requires the second boat to come to their aid. This moment has so many wonderful teaching points that for several days of reading in preparation for preaching, I had overlooked the importance of the location. The shores of the Sea of Galilee seem like an exotic location, the perfect setting for this to play out. However, we must see this from Simon Peter’s perspective. This was his place of work; this was the ordinary, the everyday, the mundane… just another day, same as any other. Here in the ordinary and the familiar Jesus entered and performed incredible things through His power and to the amazement of the people. In our own lives we can wait for the incredible time and place. We envisage the scene where we would experience Jesus moving in our lives. Yet to do so is to lose sight of our Saviour who is with you now, today, as you sit in your chair reading the paper, as you make preparations for the day at work, as you meet with a friend or relative. Jesus meets us in our ‘everyday’, our run-of-the-mill and the supposedly ordinary events of our life. When we are prepared to trust in Him and acknowledge His daily presence and relevance, God will reveal Himself and work through us and for us wherever we find ourselves. Please continue to remember in prayer: Those unable to meet with us – Freda Durman. Susan Bennett.
