isa Haydon, 28, is impulsive,
emotional and adaptable.
She is a concoction of many
opposites. While she is crazy at
times and wants to have a good
time, she is also spiritual. She is an
extrovert outside, but values her
space at home. While she is a believer in eternal love, she also has a
high need to retain her own individuality. Over an hour-long conversation just before the release of her
film Queen, she spoke to us about
her hippy mother, her uncompromising sister, Mallika, and why she
has chosen to take a break for now
with her relationship with Karan
Bhojwani. Excerpts:
How did you become an actor?
I was born in Chennai, but when I
was six months old, my parents
moved to Australia. We lived there
till I was two and moved back to
India and stayed here till I was 12,
after which we did a lot of back and

forth till we finally moved back to
India in 2007 when I was 21. I actually got my first film, Aisha, as soon
as I came here. I was modelling in
Australia. I was at a five-star coffee
shop in Mumbai and was grabbing
a coffee to get over a previous
night’s hangover when I could see
someone staring at me. I had not
been in India long enough to recognize faces so could not recognize
him till he came up to me and asked
me my name and said, ‘You are a
very beautiful girl’. That’s when I
realized that it was Anil Kapoor
as he just said hello, introduced
himself and left. Next day, he went
home and told his daughter Sonam
about me who told him, ‘Papa, I
know Lisa, she is Karan bhaiya’s
best friend’s (Karan Bhojwani’s)
girlfriend’. Anil was producing
Aisha and a year later, the Aisha
team got in touch with my agency
and I bagged my first role.

SHINEY AHUJA, whose
career suffered a setback after he was
accused of rape by
his former domestic
help, will now be
seen in Anees Bazmi’s Welcome
Back. Shiney confirmed, “Yes, I
am a part of Welcome Back. I
got a call from Anees sir’s casting director and he briefed me
about my role. It’s a comedy
film and I come in the second
half.” The actor will start shooting in Dubai soon for the film.
“This role is different and I
have not played (such a role)
earlier,” he added. The first
schedule has already been completed in Dubai. Shiney says his
family is relieved that he is getting work now. “I can’t tell you
how happy my family is. In fact,
they are relieved. I don’t know
about a comeback, but I am
grateful to God,” he added.
Shiney was last seen in the horror film Ghost, which bombed
at the box office.

uhi Chawla’s brother Bobby
Chawla died on Sunday
morning after being in coma
over the past few years. Shah Rukh
and Juhi were both friends as well as
partners in business and Bobby
became both the CEO of Shah Rukh’s
company Red Chillies Entertainments
as well as a friend of Shah Rukh before
going into coma. There was a time when
SRK would visit Bobby every day in the hospital, until a few years ago, when he appointed a
new CEO Venky Mysore to replace Bobby as he
continued to be in coma.
Juhi was very attached to her brother. In a
recent interview, every time the discussion of
her brother came up, her eyes were full of tears
and she would become speechless. She had said,
“My emotional anchor was my mom. But I lost
her in a car accident a year after my marriage.
A few years later, my dad became sick and I
lost him too. My brother, Bobby, is eight years
older than me. As kids, he and I’d fight like
cats and dogs. He would push me and I’d go
flying and would hate him for it. He, initially,
moved to Delhi to work, but then returned to
Mumbai to build a career. After losing her,
my brother became my anchor. I thought
he’d be there with me through thick and thin,
but he has been in coma for a few years now.

about the film’s concept. It is set during the great Bombay mill strike and
the gangster era of the ’80s.”
Amit, who is confident about the
film’s content and Atul’s vision, feels
this movie could work out very well
for Bollywood. He agrees with Kunal
that the script has immense boxoffice potential and, at the same time,
it is very international in context. This
is the first time a production house
based in Kolkata is producing a Hindi
film of such magnitude.
The film, which is heading to the
Cannes and Venice film festival, stars
Jimmy Shergill and Raghu Ram in
principal roles.
Amit informs that Jimmy will be
seen essaying the part of a powerful
underworld don in the film, while
Raghu Ram will play the mill workers’
union leader.
A family entertainer, the film also
deals with the sensitive issue of lost
childhood. The plight of children
growing up in the strife-torn days has
been captured in the film, the director
informs.
When asked if Raghu’s character
was modelled on the life of Union
leader Datta Samant, Amit refused
to comment.
ishwarya Rai Bachchan has
topped the list of 20 most

women on Google, followed by Vidya
Balan and UPA chairperson Sonia
Gandhi, an official statement said.
Former IPS officer Kiran Bedi
also features among the top ten, the
search trend result revealed, after a
two-month analysis between January and February 2014.
“On the occasion of Women’s Day,
Google search trends reveal who are
the most searched 20 successful
Indian women. Kiran Bedi is still
among the top 10 most searched
Indian women. Two sportswomen
(Saina Nehwal and boxer MC Mary
Kom), two authors (Arundhati Roy
and Shobhaa De) and four politicians
(J Jayalalithaa, Gandhi, Trinamool
Congress chief Mamata Banerjee
and BJP leader Sushma Swaraj),
also made it to the top 20,” a statement said. The other names include
Nita Ambani, designer Ritu Kumar,
actress Shabana Azmi, designer

please her husband through a
special menu packed more than
a punch in Bollywood. And Kolkata
seems to have warmed up to The Lunchbox, both in reel and real. The tiffin
services in the city are offering a variety
to patrons. From Gujarati, Rajasthani,
and Italian to satvik and diabetic —
there’s as much romance in every morsel
as

in his subtly spiced Indian curry.
Manju Jumrani of Hari Om Dabbawala, who began her tiffin service three
years back, is currently serving 100
patrons. Her USP? Shuddh Rajasthani
khana. “We began by making meals for
our distant family members. Thanks to
word-of-mouth publicity, we now serve
100 people,” says Manju. At `60 per meal,
the menu — which keeps varying —
includes gatte ki sabzi, dal-chawal,
chhole, rajma, aloo matar, gobi ki sabzi
and churma. “The day gatte ki sabzi is

made, we are flooded with compliments,” says Manju.
Dabba Junction, which specializes in
Rajasthani, Gujarati, North Indian and
Bengali, caters to 200 people. What’s
more, the meals are categorized into
basic (`90), executive (`120) and royal
(`135-140). Says Ameet Thakkar from the
tiffin service, “The Gujarati thali
includes dal, chawal, roti, aloo ki sabzi,
mithai, papad, pickles. The recipes vary
as per taste. So, a Gujarati dal is sweeter
than its North Indian counterpart. Also,
there’s more use of mustard in Bengali
dishes. There’s growing
demand for variety.”
There
are
plenty of takers for
Marwari khana
too, says Rani
Jain of Rani’s
Kitchen. “Every
day, we whip up
dal-chawal, rotisabzi, salad, dahi
vada and achar for
50 people. Each meal costs `75. Special
menus include lachha parantha, pulao
and chutney,” she says.
Gourmet’s Rohini Dugar, who started
the tiffin service with her mother after
completing her MBA, says there’s
increasing demand for Italian and
Continental meals. At `150, the Italian
meal includes spaghetti cutlet, pasta in
red/white sauce and salad. “The
Continental fare includes Vegetable
Florentine, Potato Corn Baked, and Veg
Gratin.
But
we
take
orders only in advance,” says Rohini.
On offer are Punjabi, Rajasthani, Gujarati and Jain
thalis. While the

The broad categorization of tiffin
services are a boon, says Sunil Jain of
Pure Vegetarian Meal. “Those wanting satvik khana know they can get in
touch with us. Our meals (`90) are made without onion or garlic,” he says.
The diabetics too can now munch
on without a care. Prerana Parakh of Inspiration Food Service
says their meals are lapped
up by many. “When diabetics come to us, we make
special meals in accordance with their needs,”
she tells us. So, what’s
making the tiffin services tick? A lot of
love, say the kitchen
kings. That’s still
