Indiana Avenue Southern Pines, NC 28387 (910) 693.1600 info@sandhillscoalition.org Nelda lives on Social Security benefits and less than $100 in food stamps. Earlier this year there was an error in her Social Security checks, and she received no benefits this month and anticipates reduced benefits next month. She came to the Coalition because her electricity was scheduled for disconnection, and Nelda had only a portion of the amount due. The Coalition was able to prevent her electricity from being disconnected and provide food to help her get through the following month until her Social Security benefits resume. Although it would be devastating to not receive a paycheck or other expected income, many of us take for granted our available resources in such a situation. Fortunately, the Coalition is able to provide a refuge for those who often have nowhere else to turn.
