Mentorships
The mentor program is a way for CIP students to receive personal, ongoing, one-on-one
advice from a board member. Each board member is matched individually to each specific
student, pairing students with executives that best fit each student’s career interests.
The board member (mentor) and student (mentee) meet one another at our Fall Kickoff
meeting and then arrange ongoing communications through email, occasional phone
calls, or meetings over coffee. Students are coached to take the initiative to find out the
best method for ongoing communications with the mentor. Many executives invite their
mentees to their company for a tour or for “shadowing” different types of jobs.
Roundtable Discussions
Our Customer Insight Advisory Board generously offers their time and expertise to share
their thoughts on the latest marketing and business insights with students through CIP
Roundtable Discussions. Through these discussions, students and business executives
interact on important contemporary marketing issues such as: new online marketing
trends, globalization, mobile marketing, social media, career planning, and more.
“ I was a member of the Customer Insight Scholarship
Program for two years which allowed me to attend round
table discussions with my peers and local marketing
executives. Thanks to my hard work and the professional
network I built while in school, I got a job at Speedway LLC
as a consumer insights analyst after graduation.”
–Megan Stewart, Speedway, LLC. CIP Student Alumnus.
CIP Advisory Board
Our board members participate regularly
with faculty and students to focus on
program improvements and teaching
priorities that will keep coursework aligned
with business needs and marketing trends.
