Zumba Intramurals are on Thursday nights @7 in the large gym. All Welcome and it’s FREE. FASHION SHOW You’re invited to the FWHS Annual Spring Fashion Show on May 14, 2015. The Fashion and Design students will be showcasing their garments in the auditorium beginning at 7:00 pm. A silent auction will take place from 6:30-7:00 pm. Tickets can be purchased for $2.00 in P17 periods 1, 5, 7, and 9 or from any fashion and design student, now until the day of the event. All of the proceeds will go towards student scholarships. FUNDRAISER The Class of 2017 will be holding a fundraiser for Animal Welfare Society of New Milford. Please bring any pet items, with the exception of food, to T13 or T28 next week from May 11th – 15th. Suggested items could be pet toys, leashes, bowls, beds, or old towels. DAY OF SILENCE On Thursday, May 14th, the Human Relations Club is sponsoring Day of Silence. People remain silent to speak out against discrimination against LGBTQ+ people . However, one can practice silence for any kind of discrimination whether it is based on race, religion, class, gender, ethnicity, physical attributes, mental issues, etc. If you want to participate, get a permission pass from Dr. Faber in F31. You also need to speak to your teachers in advance. We ask all people remaining silent to wear red. If you cannot practice silence, but want to support Day of Silence, wear red. JUNIOR AND SENIOR TEXTBOOK OBLIGATIONS: Juniors and Seniors must resolve all textbook obligations from past years before purchasing prom tickets. See your dean to pay for lost items. Check your textbook account by logging in to the library/textbook catalog. The link is posted on the library webpage. Username: network login (usually first initial and last name) Password: student ID number JUNIOR PROM Mark your calendars! Junior Prom will be at 7:00 PM on May 16th. Prom tickets will be on sale from Monday, April 27th until Friday, May 8th for $95. Tickets can be purchased and meal option and permission slip forms can be returned to P27 or P34 before or after school on any of these days. SENIOR PROM Senior Prom tickets will go on sale on Monday, May 18th. All students attending MUST present with payment ($55), a signed “prom promise”. All attending must have one. Any guest of a Warde student must complete a “Guest Promise” as well. These forms are available at Miss Kirchhof’s office in the small gym, at Mrs. Jurkiewicz’s office in Townsend Guidance or online. Ticket sales will end on May 22nd**, NO EXTENTIONS! **Note date change. TUX RENTAL Rent your tux from the school through the Music Parents Association of the Fairfield High Schools, Inc. All proceeds benefit the music programs through the MPA. Requirements: *Read a script off the teleprompter (sample scripts will be available). *Complete an application form. *Have one teacher fill out a recommendation form for you. Application and recommendation forms are available in the café this week, or may be picked up in the library. All forms should be returned to Mrs. Gartsu in the library. LAST SPIRIT WEAR SALE OF THE SCHOOL YEAR Be sure to stop by the cafeteria on Tuesday, May 19th for the last Spirit Wear sale of the school year. SCHOOL COUNSELING, COLLEGE, AND CAREER NEWS Students Volunteers Needed The Summer Adventures Program is looking for student volunteers for the four week program held on July 6th – 31st at McKinley School from 8:30-12:30. This Pre-Kindergarten through 2nd grade summer program offers creative arts classes that are engaging and fun. Availability for the full four week program is required. Teacher assistants support creative arts teachers. They may prepare materials or support students in completing activities. You must enjoy working with 4-8 year old students in a relaxed educational atmosphere. Teacher assistants are vital to the success of our summer program. Applications are available in the College & Career Center P-38.
