Teacher’s Corner
Mary Brown - Music Upper Grades
We are approaching 4th quarter and in the music room, the students are buzzing
with activity.
The 5th graders are learning their first instrument - the recorder. Working hard and
having fun, they are mastering their first song. Next, the 6th graders are getting
their violins. This is such a thrilling time for the kids. The excitement the students
have about taking home a violin and returning to show their progress...all are invited to come see the happy faces! The 7th & 8th graders are learning about classical
composers and Jazz musicians. As you walk down the hall, you may hear Bach,
Beethoven, Louis Armstrong or Ella Fitzgerald playing in the classroom. It's rewarding when students come into class, excited about progress on their instrument,
or about hearing a Jazz song online.
It is with great pleasure, as well, to announce that we have once again won the
NAMM "Support Music Merit Award" for 2015. This is our second year in a row,
where comprehensive surveys were conducted on funding, music class participation, instruction time, technological resources, facilities and support for the music
program. It is a credit to the administration, the PTO and fellow teachers who support the music program. Thank you again.
Wishes for a blessed Easter to all!

From the Nurse
Immunization reminder to 6th grade parents:
Ohio School Immunization Requirements are such that before a student enters seventh grade they are to
have a documented Tdap vaccine. This dose is intended to be administered as a booster dose for students
who have completed the required doses of the initial series of DTaP/DT/Td. Therefore, your current 6th
grader will need to show proof of having received this booster dose before they can return to school in
the fall.
Please provide the Nurse the date that the Tdap was received with a copy of updated immunizations from
your pediatrician. This reminder is sent out now to provide you with ample time to have your child immunized before the 2015-2016 school year begins. Please contact your physician or health department if
your child still needs this vaccine.

Attention students and parents
Just checking in on the cousin vinny fundraiser! We handed 10 cousin vinnys cards to all students going on the
mission trip. Each card is $10. Some parents have turned in 100.00. I have not heard from most of you. If you do
not sell your cards you need to turn them back in for cousin vinnys to buy back. If you sell the cards we make 6.50
per card! This will come off the price of the trip. We have more cards for those of you that want to sell more than
10 cards. Please turn in your money or the unsold cards by April 18th! The sooner the better! We hope everyone
can do there part and fundraise for our trip coming up in June! The card pays for itself because you get one free
pizza without any purchase! Anyone interested in buying cards??? Want to turn in your money?? Want to pick up
more cards to sell??
Please call Renee Woodie at 937-299-3924. Thank you for all your continued support!!

St. Albert the Great Spring Art Show
Plans are in the works for our annual art show,
this year in a new location! Final date and time
is in the works, but it will be the first full week
of May. Watch for updates! Due to the gallery
at Town & Country closing and relocating to a
smaller space, this year’s school show will be at
the Art Frame Gallery on Brown Street, just
north of Milano’s and near the UD campus. I
am in the process of selecting art for the
show. Notes will be sent home in late April to
let your student know which piece of their artwork is selected. Space will be more of an issue
this year, but I am working to do the best I can
to include as much as possible. The kids are
very excited about it! Thanks to gallery owner
Susie Danis Grossmann for offering us the
space for our show. It is a fantastic opportunity
for our students to have their art in a real gallery.
