Nantyllaethdy Dyffryn Crawnon, Llangynidr, Crickhowell, Powys, NP8 1NU Nantyllaethdy Beautifully restored, historic Welsh longhouse in a picturesque glacial valley. Situation Nantyllaethdy is situated in the picturesque Brecon Beacons National Park approximately 2 miles west of the village of Llangynidr. This thriving village has a well regarded pub, primary school, church, community hall, petrol station, Post Office, local store, tennis courts and playing fields. The much sought after town of Crickhowell is just four miles east and has all the expected facilities of a prosperous rural town. The beautiful Brecon Beacons National Park covers approximately 520 square miles of mountains and moorland in south and mid Wales and provides a vast space of natural beauty, inspiring architecture and interesting archaeology. The Park provides a wealth of leisure activities including breathtaking walks, horse riding, water sports, cycling, fishing and caving to name but a few. Description Nantyllaethdy is an historic Welsh longhouse, dating back in parts to around 1650 of traditional cruck construction. The Grade II listed property has been painstakingly and lovingly refurbished approximately 8 years ago with improvements sympathetic to the period of the building. A new one bedroom guest cottage has been added, offering a contemporary twist to the traditional. Both of these buildings enjoy magnificent views of the surrounding hillsides and valley. The Longhouse Entered via a glazed door, the entrance hall, doubling up as a snug, has a central flag stoned floor with exposed stone walls, a glazed door out to the rear garden and provides access to the principal rooms. Two steps lead up to the sitting room, a very well proportioned double reception room, featuring a wide stone fireplace incorporating wood burning stove and bread oven beneath a heavy wooden mantel. There are windows to front and rear and the beamed ceiling and flag stone floor lend much character. A library, separated from the main living space by solid oak pillars provides the perfect place to read and relax. The large kitchen is fitted with a bespoke range of units in distressed oak beneath solid oak surfaces. Arranged around a central fireplace incorporating a red enamel Aga, the kitchen has integrated appliances. Stone steps lead down to a dining room which also has a glazed door leading out to the rear garden and from where the downstairs cloakroom and boiler room are accessed. There is an en suite double bedroom on the ground floor approached via a short flight stair case from the kitchen. The remaining bedroom accommodation is found on the first floor, which is arranged in two sections, with the master bedroom having its own stone staircase from the drawing room. The bedroom has an impressive vaulted beamed ceiling with traditional exposed oak A-frame trusses and oak flooring. From here the en suite bathroom is a modern take on tradition featuring double sinks, WC, shower cubicle and separate bath. A second staircase from the hallway leads to the two further bedrooms. Bedroom 4 has an annexe, perfect as a study or sitting room and ideal as a teenager’s suite. The third bedroom, currently used as a study, shares the Heritage family bathroom. All bedrooms feature solid oak flooring throughout. Coach House The annexed accommodation is approached from a flag stone floored hallway with cloakroom, which leads into a vast open plan living room with part-vaulted ceiling, featuring glazed French doors to both the front and rear elevation absorbing the wonderful views. This oak floored living room is open plan to the kitchen. On the first floor, an impressive large bedroom has a gallery which partly overlooks the living room and features exposed beams and a luxurious en suite. Gardens & Grounds The property is approached from a long driveway and there is parking afforded between the cottages as well as providing access to the detached stone built garage/workshop. This sizeable workshop has oak double doors and windows on the northern elevation to take in view across the valley. There is boarded loft storage above. Outside, there are terraced gardens featuring lawns with low stoned walls, garden pond and a number of maturing shrubs and fruit trees including plum, apple and pears. At all points one can appreciate the magnificent views of the surrounding area.
