P: Christ is risen indeed! L: This is the day that the Lord has made. P: Let us rejoice and be glad in it. *HYMN “Jesus Christ Is Risen Today” PH 123 *PRAYER OF CONFESSION O God, you heal the brokenhearted; save us from sin when we inflict pain on our neighbors. We bear grudges against those who deceive us. We seek revenge on those who hurt us. Some we judge inferior, since they don't meet our standards. Others we deem unworthy of our respect and support. Jesus had compassion upon all who were afflicted. Forgive us, O God, when our hearts are hardened against neighbors in need. Forgive us for living as though the stone were not rolled back and Jesus did not rise from the grave and thus give us a new life and a new hope. Amen *SILENT PRAYERS OF CONFESSION *ASSURANCE OF PARDON L: Sisters and brothers, let us work for the good of all and for those in the family of faith. Believe the good news of the Gospel. P: In Jesus Christ we are forgiven. *CONGREGATIONAL RESPONSE “Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus” Turn your eyes upon Jesus, Look full in His wonderful face; And the things of earth will grow strangely dim In the light of his glory and grace. After the April 2013 suicide of his 27-year-old son, Matthew, pastor and author, Rick Warren was often asked how he was able to keep going. His frequent reply? “The answer is Easter.” In the Easter sermons Warren preached the following year, he emphasized that Jesus’ resurrection is the answer to discouragement, defeat and devastating trials. “The death, burial and resurrection of Jesus happened over three days,” Warren explained. “Friday was the day of suffering and pain and agony. Saturday was the day of doubt and confusion and misery. But Easter, that Sunday, was the day of hope and joy and victory. “You will face these three days over and over and over in your lifetime. And when you do, you’ll find yourself asking, as I did, three fundamental questions. Number one, what do I do in my days of pain? Two, how do I get through my days of doubt and confusion? Three, how do I get to the days of joy and victory? The answer is Easter.” - The Newsletter Newsletter PRAYER CONCERNS Health Concerns: Emmalyn Cook, great-granddaughter of Paul Wolfe; Minh Thai (son-in-law of Jerry & Linda Fry); Michael Brown; Mary McNamara; Mac Moyer; Louie Van Fossen; Bill Van Fossen; Joe Wallace.
