A word from the Pastor… - First Baptist Church of Toccoa >> First
A word from the Pastor… For two and a half years Jesus had been teaching, demonstrating and building the truth of who He was. Now, in the region of Caesarea Philippi near the end of His earthly ministry, He asks the disciples a question… “Who do you say I am?” Peter proclaimed, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” The truth of Jesus’ divinity and Messiahship was established in the minds of the disciples, and a short time later their lives would reflect their confession. If you were not able to be here this past Sunday, I asked two questions for everyone to think about this week. 1. Who do you say Jesus is? 2. Does your life reflect your answer? If we believe and confess Jesus to be the Messiah and our Savior, our lives should reflect that belief and confession. Not that we will be perfect, but our lives should tell others we love the Lord and desire to honor and serve Him in all that we say and do. May each of us ask the tough questions, allow God to reveal the answers, then trust Him to mold and make us into the people He desires us to be. It is time to give to the Annie Armstrong Easter offering. We met our Lottie Moon Christmas goal and I’m sure we will do the same for our Easter offering. Our church goal is $10,000.00 which can be met in just a few weeks if we give willingly and joyfully. I am thankful to serve a church that is mission minded and truly desires to see the Gospel spread across the world. I hope to see you this Sunday for Bible study and worship. David gave a wonderful challenge leading up to Easter for us to think about who we say Jesus is and how that changes our lives. I pray that as we approach Easter we would truly think through this in our own lives as to who we say Jesus is. There are a few things coming up that I want to remind everyone. First of all, on March 21, the middle schoolers will be taking a trip to Cracker Barrel with Zack, Samantha, and me. We will be going out to eat and discussing the study we just finished on Sunday nights. We will be leaving the church at 4:00; please bring $10 for supper and a little extra if you want anything from the outlet mall. Also on March 27, we will be having a Friday Night Church. This Friday Night Church may be a little different, but I will let you know more details later. I hope everyone has a wonderful week, and I look forward to seeing you all soon! -Brett Youth Upcoming Events Every Wednesday - Joy Explosion (6:30-7:30) Every Sunday - Youth Choir (5:00) and Fusion (6:30) March 21 – Middle School Cracker Barrel March 27 - Friday Night Church April 4 – Mission Trip to Clarkston April 9 – Clemson FCA This week will be busy for Ignite Kids. Thank You Thanks to everyone who helped make our trip this past weekend on the Appalachian Trail a success. We had 34 scouts and leaders involved in this hike from Winding Stair Gap to Wayah Bald. Our church deserves a big thank you for helping to provide transportation for trips such as this one. As leaders we could never accomplish what we do with these scouts without the wonderful support we have from our church. Rex Patterson, Scoutmaster "What wondrous love is this, O my soul, that caused the Lord of bliss to bear the dreadful curse for my soul?" These words absolutely haunt me. The Appalachian melody that so often accompanies this text resonates within my being. How can we even begin to comprehend the perfect love of Christ—a love that compelled Him to "lay aside His crown for my soul?” This grace astounds me. Yet, the mystery of God's love is the tenet of my faith: while I was yet a sinner, Christ died for me. Here now, and for all eternity, I'll sing on, covered with God's wondrous love. -Benji This Sunday’s Music “Wondrous Love”—Paul Christiansen Sanctuary Choir *Preschool Choir will be singing in both morning services Periodical postage paid at Toccoa, GA 30577 Music Ministry The “A Link Between Church and Home” Vol. 31 - No. 11 Welcome New Member Kimberly Tanner 135 Rumsey Avenue Toccoa, GA 30577 706-804-1071 THE LINK (USPS 669430) is published weekly by First Baptist Church, Toccoa, GA—706-886-6822 Postmaster: Send address changes to First Baptist Church, 475 E.
