Pre-school Photo Moment
This half term the Pre-school children have greatly
enjoyed having “Handa” the chicken living with them at
Pre-school. Handa hatched 8 gorgeous baby chicks while
living in the pre-school garden.
A huge thank you to everyone involved in helping the Pre-school raise an amazing
£157,500 of the £170,000 needed for the new Pre-school building. There have been
tremendous contributions from the children, parents, staff, committee members, families,
friends of the Pre-school, general members of the public and special donors of time, effort
and donations to help raise this terrific figure. With the remaining amount so close to the
figure needed, the Pre-school has a few more events and activities planned this year to help
get us to the final figure.
Support your Pre-school events
Firstly a gentle reminder to “Buy your Brick” if you haven’t already! If you need a
leaflet there are spares at the Pre-school or you can download one from the
website. Thanks to all those parents who have already bought their bricks.
This half term we have three important fundraising events coming up very soon, which need
your time and attendance. Speak with Anita Owen (anita_owen@btinternet.com, 01491
871770) or sign up on the rota at Pre-school if you can volunteer any time for any of the
following:
Antiques Day with Jonty
Hearnden
Saturday 26th June 10:00am-12:30pm
BBC TV antiques expert Jonty Hearnden will be visiting
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Streatley Hill Pre-school Group is a registered charity no. 1015769 in England and Wales
Registered address: The Coombe, Streatley, Nr Reading, RG8 9RD
the Streatley Primary School to run an antiques valuation
day. Jonty is inviting people to bring their unwanted
antiques and collectibles for a free valuation. These can
either be donated to the Pre-school for auction at a later
date to help raise funds for the Pre-school, or kept by
the owner – our hope is that a donation to the appeal
might be made instead of the object.
Help at this event is needed from parents with
teas and coffees, baking cakes, being a Pre-school
tour guide and assisting with the antiques /
valuations. Please sign up on the rota at Preschool or speak to Anita.
Streatley Primary School Fete
Saturday 3rd July 2pm
We will be holding three stalls at the Primary School Fete
– Buy a Brick, Stocks and Aeroplane Races. Help is
needed to run all these stalls, so again please
contact Anita or sign up on the helpers sheet on
the Pre-school notice board.
Dance through the Decades
Disco
Saturday 10th July 8pm – 12am
Tickets for the fancy dress (optional!) disco to be held at
Goring Village Hall are £10 each – available from Claire
Arnold-Baker (clairearnold-baker@zen.co.uk) or
Anita Owen (anita_owen@btinternet.com). Helpers
are also needed on an hourly rota basis for the
bar, as well as from 4pm to help decorate the hall
prior to the event. Again sign up on the rota at the
Pre-school or speak to Anita.
Waitrose Green Tokens
late June – date to be confirmed
The Pre-school will be taking part in the Wallingford Waitrose green token collection scheme.
Three charities share £1000 divided by how many tokens they each collect. Please look out
for the box in late June and perhaps start saving up your tokens now! The more tokens we
collect the greater percentage of £1000 the Pre-school will gain.
Future Dates:
FOSS Dog Show
Sunday 18th September
The Pre-school will be holding a Sweet Stall at the dog show
– details to follow – helpers will be needed.
St. Mary’s Swimathon
Sunday 26th September
Are you a good swimmer and fancy raising some funds for
the Pre-school? Swim as many laps as you (or your team)

Pre-school Committee members needed for 2010-2011
It’s the collective responsibility of Pre-school parents to run the Pre-school committee.
Without committee members and the time volunteered the administration of the Pre-school
would simply not happen. There has been a tremendous amount of work done this year by all
members of the current team (all the planning and monies raised for the new building to
mention a few tasks!) – many of whom don’t have children at the Pre-school. SO we’re in
desperate need of some new members to take over some roles for next year. It’s an equally
important year next year as the new Pre-school will most likely be built during the course of
the next academic year.
At present we are in the process of incorporating the Pre-school into a charitable company
limited by guarantee and need new Directors (committee members) for the incorporated Preschool.
Please
contact
Louise
Schilizzi,
current
Pre-school
Chair,
(louiseandjohn.schilizzi@btinternet.com), if you would be willing to be a Director/member
next year in any capacity – there are lots of roles available so please do step up if you’re not
already involved.
