About Britni
Britni Danielle is journalist, editor, and
novelist who is passionate about telling
stories. A former public school teacher,
Britni frequently covers race, pop culture,
and social issues for several publications,
including Essence, EBONY, TakePart,
and Clutch.
When she isn't interviewing celebrities or politicians, Britni can be found
working on BrownBoyGenius, a digital platform dedicated to empowering
boys of color. Bursting with ideas, Britni is also an acclaimed author of several
sizzling novels, including the new adult best seller When You're Ready. In
addition to writing, Britni also leads workshops, teaching others how to tell their
own stories.
Britni the Journalist
In just five years, Britni has amassed thousands of
freelance clips. She's written extensively for both print
and digital publications, on a myriad of topics, including
dating, feminism, race, parenting, and pop culture for
Essence, TakePart, EBONY, BabyCenter,
MommyNoire, and the Grio.
On any given day, Britni can be found covering red
carpet events, chatting with media moguls like Oprah
Winfrey, or conversing with politicians and
newsmakers about the latest issues.
Britni's work has been featured in both the U.S. and
the UK, and she enjoys a robust international
following.
Britni the Storyteller
In 2013, Britni achieved a lifelong goal and released her first novel, Turn It
Loose. It immediately resonated with readers and quickly shot to #6 on
Amazon's African-American women's fiction charts. In the years since, Britni
has released the hilarious Bad Dates & Other Disasters series; Two Steps
Back, a follow-up to her first effort; and the new adult best seller When
You're Ready, which sold nearly a 1000 copies within a month of its release.
Britni incorporates her travels, her addiction to happy endings, and her unique
voice to create books her readers don't want to put down.

Although she stepped away from the classroom in
2011, Britni has continued to teach others how to
tell their own story. Through her blog,
BritniDanielle.com and her online course, The
Write Pitch, Britni helps young writers break into
the competitive publishing industry. Since
launching The Write Pitch, Britni's students have
been published in several outlets, including The
Guardian, Salon, EBONY, and the Huffington Post.
In addition to working with others, Britni has been tapped to speak about a
number of issues from pop culture to social media both in person and on the
air. Britni has been a frequent commentator for WVON, the Michael Eric
Dyson Show, and the Huffington Post Live. Britni has also presented at
Blogging While Brown and Social Media Week, Johannesburg.

After spending years teaching middle
school in Los Angeles and covering
stories about boys, Britni was dismayed
about the way the media portrayed boys
of color. In 2014 she founded
BrownBoyGenius to use her voice and
experience as a mother, teacher, and
writer to highlight the positive
achievements of brown boys as well as
build a space that would support,
encourage, and give voice to those who
raise them.
BrownBoyGenius taps into an underserved market of parents and educators
who feel like their issues and concerns are ignored. Because of this, the
BrownBoyGenius Facebook page enjoys intense fan engagement.
