From The Veep’s Desk
Ok, now for your information, a Ford dealer in Lebanon Ohio, is reputed to be offering
727 hp Ford Mustang GTs for $39,995. Of course you can add suspension, handling, and
appearance packages for more money. But as I understand it they offer a base GT, add a
Rousch Stage 2 supercharger kit and sell it for 40K. Supposedly have sold more than a few of
them. Gee, more to tear up at the Cars and Coffee meets, LOL. Anyway, that means hopefully
some FCA dealership oughta take a Challenger R/T and do the same thing, huh? Wonder what
kinda power that would make?
I still haven’t made any more progress on my truck. Did take time to go to the Pate
Swap Meet. According to my phone app I walked over 20K steps. Never did see Kurt. Saw
Rick Mariano though. A lot of really cool stuff, some of which I would have liked to have
bought but refrained from taking any money so as to remove temptation.
Just read an article on the internet that claims the Dodge Viper ACR develops so much
downforce (1700+ pounds) that it actually reduces the mpg of the tow vehicle. Hmm, fancy
that. Article that GM is developing a mid-engine Corvette, redesigning the entire car. Outside
still resembles the late model Stingray but the engine supposed to be a choice of 3.5L – 4.0 L
non-push rod, paddle-shift dual clutch ATM, wheelbase 98 inches or so, supposed to be dubbed
the Zora C8.
I was pleasantly surprised to see that my Jeep truck was featured in an internet ad for the
Nitto Tire Auto Enthusiast Day for 2016. The link is here if anyone cares to see it. http://
www.drivingline.com/articles/auto-enthusiast-day-arrives-in-texas-gallery/. Well, I guess that is
all I have to ramble about, other than looking forward to the car show for this month.

HEY FOURTEEN TIME TMCCC CHAMPIONS!!!!
2016 Race Schedule:
Well it's almost car show time. I hope everyone is
getting all cleaned up and ready for this years show. I will
have my race care there and I hope to see a bunch more
this year. It's the biggest and coolest thing the club does
all year so be sure and show your support.
As for the racing end of things there is one more
race before the summer break, June 5th at the
Motorplex. We are currently tied for first place with the
Mustang club and the GM club is close to both of us.
Out of four races we had one good showing and it was
at the Motorplex, so let’s have another good showing
before the summer break.

NHRA results. Now we're getting somewhere, Southern Nats, Atlanta, GA,
all Mopar F/C final, Matt Hagan over Jack Beckman, Dodge Chargers a
pair. Kansas Nats, Topeka, KS, repeat of Atlanta, Matt Hagan over Jack
Beckman.
Cowtown Mopars annual car show really coming together. Kurt Schuster
working overtime pulling it all together. His organizing and attention to detail is amazing. Thanks, Kurt. Looks like going to be lots of fun. I will be in show and shine
and helping with the dyno challenge. No way my cars go across the dyno 'cause I'd have to
stop lying about how much power I'm making.
New Buick Cascada convertible looks suspiciously like Ken 's Sebring convertible with my
Sebring's grill. Sorry Mother Mopar but the “new” Pacifica is not a Pacifica. It is a very nice
updated and styled mini-van. The original Pacifica had 4 traditional doors, was a mile wide, a
very aggressive forward rake, styling to match a Lexus and a ride and drive to match any
luxury car. I should know as I enjoyed a 2006 Pacifica for several years.
3 part docudrama on history of NASCAR on CMT. Caught the second episode which covered
the opening of Daytona Speedway in 1959 to the first live race on CBS in 1979. Skipped or
quickly glossed over most of the controversies such as banning the HEMI in the 1965 season,
the rivalry between Chrysler and Ford in the 60's, Richard Petty sitting out the 1965 season
and drag racing instead and the driver's union. No mention of the 1969-1971 aero cars. In fact
during the segment on the opening of Talladega they managed to show the winner and trophy
girl on the hood of the winning without showing the car nor give the winner's name nor make
of car (Richard Brickhouse in the Charger Daytona's first win).
Shopping the other day in my favorite junkyard (Apache Auto Salvage, Bus 287, Kennedale),
parts for several projects. Several late model Ram pick ups showing up. Magnum trucks,
engines still there, HEMI trucks, engines long gone.
Jay Leno's Garage returns 9pm, June 15 on cable channel CNBC.
July issue of Hot Rod cover story about the 2016 Viper ACR they are preparing for the Pikes
Peak Hillclimb this 4th of July. A very good read. Still waiting for a road test on the new 900
HP Supercharged Viper ADR however.
June issue of Motor Trend, “Three vehicles you should be driving at the end of the world”.
$46,000 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Hard Rock came in 2nd because of its ride during the 1000
mile road trip. 1st was an $85,000 Toyota Land Cruiser and 3rd was a $125,000 M-B
G-Wagon. Wrangler waxed them both off-road of course. Let us review. To come in first you
have to almost double the price of the Wrangler and still be inferior off-road. Or you can
almost triple the price and come in third both on and off-road.
Don’t forget the Hot Rod Power Tour, June 11-17 is almost upon us and in our backyard.
Stops at Trader’s Village, Grand Prairie, Tue, June 14. Cowtown Mopars will meet in Gander
Mountain parking lot (with their permission), Highland Village, Arlington 3 pm until - ?
Hanging out and talking to Power Tour Mopars. Thanks Chris for organizing this.
