Gunslinger’s Gazette in the same calendar year. She faced very tough competition from Miss B. Haven and Stormie Weather in the finals, but her consistent shooting and hits in the very low 5’s proved to be the deciding factor once again. She works very hard in the planning and running of the event and feeds 200 folks on Saturday night with her volunteer crew. Frankly, we don’t know where she gets the energy to even draw the gun on Sunday much less win the overall title. No wonder her fellow competitors voted her the Spirit of the Game Award, of which she was deeply honored to receive. We hope to see you all again next year on September 30th thru October 3rd, for the 2010 Beretta’s Fastest Gun Alive! I think we were somewhere around 100 folks for dinner Saturday evening. Magnolia Blu made a big pot of baked beans, Blackjack and Fannie Mae baked 100+ taters, Old Buzzard and his lovely wife sliced up fresh watermelon and cantaloupe from their garden, Edith and Mama Smart made some salads, and Diamond Lils sent over some lemonade. We ate that whole hog, the whole thang, heck even Nevada Slim ate one of his peepers. “Here’s looking at ya” he said. As folks sat around visiting and reminiscing and passing around a few clear jars that I’m not real sure of what was in them but folks was acting funny. Great meal Bret – Thanks Amigo. Sunday morning started off with Cowboy Church at the Lowe’s Forrest Theatre and a testimonial message from Jeb Tubbs. Looks like we had about 46 shooters in the Resurrection match. That got kicked off on the Resurrection range whilst the main match continued on the Idaho Shootists range. Course it didn’t take but about an hour and we were down to the top 5 men, top 5 ladies and top 5 Billy the Kid/Annie Oakley shooters. We went back to using all 10 lanes and finished up the Resurrection match right on time. That was a 2X, 2 out of 3 match so they go pretty quick. 12:40pm we started the Top 5 Championship Shoot Offs to determine the Overall Idaho State Champions. The line ups were tough. The top five in the men’s division were Dangerous Dave, Trickshot, Gentleman Jim, Buzzard Cooper and Straight Shot. The lady’s division featured Bam Bam, Calamity, Idaho Belle, Fannie Mae and Miss B Haven. Those little fellers featured Sweet Pea, Annie B. Goode, Rebel Kid, Spud and Cactus Kid. First up were the young guns. Everyone found a seat and settled in to root for their favorite. Them little fellers is getting fast. They shoot two handed in the low 6’s high 5’s. That’s better than some of us grown folks can do with one hand. When all was said and done, these guys and gals put on a great show. Cactus Kid had to work hard to edge out Spud for the Overall Billy the Kid/Annie Oakley Championship. Don’t fergit about Gunslinger’s Gazette Fall 2009 the other three competitors in the shoot off, Rebel Kid, Annie B. Goode and Sweet Pea all held there own and were certainly a pleasure to watch. Overall Youth Division Honorable mention should also go out to Texas certainly stole the show with a final and Blue Blossom. They both were of 3’s and 4’s as were all of the Top only 1 shot away from being in the 5.
