For the first time since 2012, ISTO in its entirety is returning to the home
of the Titanic and Game of Thrones, Belfast, Norn Iron! Here you can visit the
Titanic Museum, take a dander (walk) through the Botanic Gardens, and
scunder (embarrass) yourself in the pubs and clubs of the Queens Quarter. It’ll
be pure beezer! (fantastic!)
ISTO 2016 will take place from 17th-20th March, a great opportunity for
you to experience St. Patrick’s Day in Ireland first hand. The competition will
be hosted in the Physical Education Centre (PEC) at Queen’s University and
there will be all the usual aspects of ISTO; individual and synchronised
trampolining, DMT, and tumbling. This year we will also be introducing Display
Gymnastics (you can add a cheeky cheer routine if you like!)
This Welcome Pack will contain most of the important information for
the competition including deadlines and costs, and descriptions of all the
responsibilities of various people who are key to making ISTO a success as well
as details as to how best to get to know your fellow tramps across Europe!
These include the themes for our socials and all of the ways you can get in
touch with us. ISTO is the largest student trampoline competition in Europe so
make sure to get your entries, payments and accommodation sorted out as
soon as possible to avoid disappointment! We hope you guys are as excited as
we are, see you all in March!

It is the responsibility of each club to ensure that each registered
competitor or person attending the socials is aware of this and
has their own insurance or is covered by their trampoline club’s
insurance. Images and video taken by ISTO during this event and
used in promotional material thereafter may contain the image
of attendants.

We are updating our entry system this year, implementing a
new and improved entry process for ISTO 2016! Don’t stress

Reasons why you NEED an ISTO t-shirt :

They are unreal

Perfect hangover clothes

They go with everything

They are a great memoir!
Example from previous ISTOs:
NOTE:
Due to errors that may occur with the exchange rate, we
would like it if countries who use sterling could pay the
amount in sterling, and countries who use euro could pay the
appropriate amount in euro. Information outlining how to
pay will be sent out closer to the time, along with the invoice
for your club. Please note that we do accept cheque,
however we do prefer bank transfers. It is your responsibility
to ensure that the invoice matches up with your entries.
Colour options and sizes will be sent out with the entry
information. All t-shirts are unisex. This year our shirts will bear
the logo of our ISTO charity; the Irish Heart Foundation, with
£/€1 from each shirt sold going towards this great charity.

Saturday Night: Luau
The Socials!
The Speakeasy, QUB Students Union, University Road
Get ready to heat things up as CommISTO transport you to
Hawaii for a luau that's sure to set temperatures soaring. Think
grass skirts, think volcanoes, think coconut bras! Get your leis out
and get ready to burn things up!
Thursday Night: Paddy’s Night
The Eglantine Bar, 32 Malone Road
Get first-hand experience of just how us Irish
celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in the Emerald Isle by going green
with CommISTO. The Irish are well known for being fond of
the craic (banter), so let’s kick off the weekend in style by
celebrating St Patrick’s Day in true Irish fashion!
Sunday Night: The Final Hurdle
The Fly Belfast, 5-6 Lower Crescent
Congratulations! You successfully survived ISTO 2016! It's
time to pack up your leos, say your goodbyes and really let your
hair down. Ask your sleeping pattern to take one more for the
team, before the reality of college and work set in tomorrow...
Friday Night: Winter Wonderland
The Botanic Inn, 23-27 Malone Road
Think cool and icy, think snowflakes, think Christmas!
Friday night is all about acting cool, mysterious and
indulging yourself in a winter wonderland. Only your
dance partner’s body heat will protect you from the ice cold
dance floor! Sure, isn't body heat
the best kind of heat?
Note:
It is unfortunate that being an incredibly good looking tramp
will not be enough for you to gain access to the ISTO socials. All
competitors/social tramps must bring 2 forms of photo ID, proving
they are over 18. Acceptable ID in Belfast includes:



4
Passport
Photographic Driving License
Cards with the PASS hologram.
ISTO Gives Back
Officials’ Responsibilities
This year the CommISTO is
delighted to announce that
we will be fundraising and
raising awareness for the
Irish Heart Foundation (IHF).
Captains


#BouncyHeartsAreHappyHearts
The IHF is an invaluable
organization that strives to promote cardiovascular health in Ireland
through informational courses, professional training and
research. Alongside this they also advocate for patient care and
provide much needed support to the families of those who have
suffered a stroke or developed cardiovascular disease.

Its mission is to lead in improving the cardiovascular health of people
living in Ireland so they do not experience disability or die from
preventable heart, stroke and other circulatory disorders. The
Foundation are tackling the greatest cause of death in Ireland today,
while depending on 92% of its funding to come in the form of
donations. Our mission, with the help of the university trampoline
community and the competitors at ISTO 2016 is to help them achieve
that goal in any way we can.




Please, please, please read through this section and ensure the officials you enter know what is expected of them
We rely heavily on you for the competition to run smoothly. Here
are a few things we ask of you over the weekend
Captains are responsible for ensuring all competitors’ details are
entered correctly
Captains are responsible for ensuring payments are made on time
When entering Judges and Marshals, Captains are responsible for
making sure they are qualified and competent. This is especially
true for Judges. Please ensure that Superiors are fully qualified and
Judges are suitable
During the competition, Captains are responsible for ensuring their
competitors are there on time and in the proper attire to compete
Captains are responsible for ensuring that Judges are informed
about when they are judging and making sure they are at their
assigned panel on time. If Judges are not present captains should
have another judge to replace them
Marshals
Good marshals are crucial for making the competition run
smoothly. Below is a list of jobs that will help you be outstanding in your
field. If at any time you are in doubt, ask the Chair of the Judging Panel
for assistance.
Cardiac disease kills 10,000 people a year in Ireland. 10,000 people a
year suffer a stroke with unfortunately 2,000 people dying as a result.
Anyone can be affected by stroke and heart disease and everyone
knows someone who has, or will be affected.

Throughout the year and over the course of our awesome competition
weekend we hope to enlist your help to raise awareness and funds for
this valuable and hard working organisation.


5
Ensure all competitors are present and in the vicinity of the
competition trampolines when their level is called
Check each competitor’s name off the running list
Wink at the Judges and pass them a compliment regularly






Inform Superior Judge and Scorekeeper of any changes to the
running order
Ensure each competitor is aware of their position in the running
order and is present for their controlled warm-up and ready to
compete
Ensure each competitor gets a warm up
Ensure only those who are competing in their respective category
warm up on the trampolines in between set and voluntary
routines
Make sure each competitor has handed up a tariff sheet if they
intend to change their voluntary routine
Make sure there are spotters at the trampoline when
competitors are warming up and competing
No competition will start without a member of the CommISTO
explaining the scorekeeping system to the scorekeepers. Please ensure
that scorekeepers know to record a score as 69 rather than 6.9. You will
also receive an awesome T-shirt.
Judges
Please can each club read the following guidelines before
submitting any candidate to judge at ISTO 2015.


Recorder

The position of recorder is being brought back again for ISTO
2016, but only for the Elite and Pro Elite panels. The reason for this is
for any tariff queries and also should any of the competitors be
interested in their time of flight. We will not be including time of flight
in this year’s competition as part of scoring for Elite competition as we
are unable to get a TOF machine, and we believe a stopwatch is too
unreliable. So the duties are as follows

Work alongside the marshal to make sure you have the right
competitor

Ask permission to each competitor before videoing

Record the routine from when the person starts bouncing till the
competitor gets off the trampoline




smooth running of events over the weekend. The terms will apply to
all clubs and individuals. If any of the terms are broken, penalties may
follow.

directly to the CommISTO's chosen charity of the year

payment of all fees relating to the weekend

accepted only up to 3 weeks prior to the competition

Those absent due to injury or other extraordinary circumstances
however, will not be subject to a fine

of judges.
If the problem occurs 5 or more times within a single club, shield
scores will be withheld from the club until a fine has been paid
8

Clubs are expected to provide the CommISTO with any equipment
necessary for the running of the competition. This refers to laptops in
particular as access to laptops is an issue which considerably hinders
the delivery of the competition

Each club should enter AT LEAST one judge and one other official per
5 competitors

It is the responsibility of clubs to bring coaches with the correct
qualifications for their competitors to the competition

Clubs who fail to pay their entries on time will be subject to a fine
unless they can justify the reason for the late entry payment

Things To Do in Belfast!
At Queen’s PEC
Swimming Pool Public entry, Adult: £6
Clement’s Café Provides hot and cold food and drinks
Avoca, Arthur Street If you like breakfast a little more on the sweet side
or something richer for lunch Avoca is the place to go. Grab some
pancakes in the morning, followed by beef and Guinness casserole for
lunch. If your student loan money is burning a hole in your pocket
an Avoca brunch will solve your problem.
Food
Maggie Mays, 50 Botanic Avenue/2 Malone Road The perennial Maggie
Mays is the answer to any tramp’s prayers at any time of the day,
offering three choices of the “Perfect Hangover Cure” in the morning,
followed by delicious milkshakes when your stomach is settled in the
afternoon. The perfect spot between breakfast and dinner.
Things to do when you’re not bouncing
Titanic Museum Nestled in the Titanic Quarter the state-of-the-art
Titanic Museum tells the story of the boat made famous by that movie
with Leo diCaprio and Kate Winslett. Open between 10 am and 5 pm all
through March and with tickets just £11 for students, immerse yourself
in a bit of the history of Belfast for an hour or two while you wait for
your synchro competition to come round.
Domino’s Pizza, 2 Lisburn Road For the hangers-on, the dedicated
party-animals who think a 6 am last call is early. Sustain that energy
throughout the night with a pizza delivered to wherever the night takes
you until 5 am. We’d never deny ourselves a cold pizza slice for
breakfast, but there’s something about those pepperoni dough-balls
that just says dinner.
Game of Thrones Tours For any fans of Game of Thrones, these tour
are an absolute must. Visit Winterfell and pledge your allegiance to the
Starks and the King of the North at the same location as the TV show.
With at least three tour companies to pick from, you’re spoiled for
choice for GoT-related fun in Belfast.
Rhubarb Café, 2 Little Victoria Street Serving free teas and coffees until
10:30 am, Rhubarb Café is ideal for anyone who’s judging first thing in
the morning. Get a Bacon Buttie for less than £3 and be ready to give
everyone .0’s cause you’ll be so content with life. Nothing sets you
up for Intermediate Ladies better than a free tea or coffee.
We Are Vertigo Okay, we lied, bouncing is essential to Belfast. Visit We
Are Vertigo to get a bit of fun bouncing in between the competition sets
in their Europe’s biggest trampoline arena with two trampoline courts,
stunt pits and an open trampoline area. If for some crazy reason you
want to try something besides trampolining at We Are Vertigo, there’s
also an Adventure and Ski Centre there. They’re all open til 9 pm on
Saturday.
China China, 1 University Street If you aren’t sold on all-you-can-eat. If
you aren’t sold on all-you-can-eat for just £8 between 5 and 7 pm. If you
aren’t sold on boxes for just £4. Then you’ll definitely be sold on self
serve ice-cream cones! Anywhere that lets you pile your own ice
cream cone as high as the sky is clearly in dinner territory.
