The IUGB Foundation is a U.S. 501 (c)(3) tax exempt non-profit organization based in Atlanta, Georgia. The Foundation was organized by U.S. and Ivorian supporters of the International University of Grand-Bassam (IUGB), located in Côte d’Ivoire, West Africa. IUGB Foundation’s board of directors, a talented and diverse group of individuals, helped conceptualize this new U.S. style international university, saw it open with 8 students in 2005, and assisted in preparing its first strategic business plan. ce ep Ed ke ex EARLY SUCCESS stories elp BUILDING A “REGIONAL CENTER OF EXCELLENCE” Our mission is to provide both financial and in-kind assistance to build and sustain the International University of Grand-Bassam, helping it become a “Regional Center of Excellence” in higher education in West Africa. Educating Global Leaders of Tomorrow HOW IT IS DONE S T dh U D an E N RACHEL KONAN who is always exuberant about her IUGB experience, completed the first two years of her studies at IUGB in 2009. Instead of transferring to Georgia State as most of her classmates did, she chose to continue her education in Africa. This took her to Ghana where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Ashesi University College. Identified by General Electric Company (GE) as a rising star before completing her degree, she was recruited into a GE internship program and hired by the company immediately upon graduation. She quickly rose to her current position as business analyst for French-speaking West Africa based in Acrra, Ghana. On April 5, 2013, she returned to IUGB as part of a GE delegation that announced a new partnership with IUGB, focused on building African human capital. DO Mak NA e a TIO T S KIDO KOUASSI attended the International University of Grand-Bassam pursuing a Bachelor in Computer Information Systems. While at IUGB, he participated in a U.S. State Department funded program entitled Study of the United States Institute (SUSI) for student leaders in social entrepreneurship. Always concerned with helping people in need, he and some friends from IUGB founded WINDAY, a non-profit organization which helps raise awareness and takes action on social issues affecting the Grand-Bassam community. He is a Summa Cum Laude graduate of Georgia State University and is currently working for Nuesoft Technologies as an IT Specialist. Kido dreams of eradicating poverty and hunger in Côte d’Ivoire. The IUGB Foundation raises funds to provide scholarships for needy students enabling them to attend IUGB. It also supplies grants and stipends to bring distinguished international faculty and staff to IUGB and provides general support to help the University achieve self-sufficiency. This assistance will enable IUGB to produce ethical leaders and good citizens who will drive African development in the 21st century.
