Bernard Herman and Elizabeth (Hillen) Moss Bernard and Maria Theresa (Moss) Thole Bernard Herman Moss was born November 10, 1850 in Altenlingen, Germany. He immigrated with his mother in 1874 to St. Rose, Illinois. He married Elizabeth Hillen October 28, 1879 in St. Rose, Illinois. He died December 4, 1909 and is buried in St. Dominic Cemetery, Breese, Illinois. Elizabeth (Hillen) Moss was born April 28, 1860 in Altenlingen, Germany. She immigrated to the United States on the same date and on the same ship as her future husband Bernard Herman Moss. She was killed by a coal train in Breese, Illinois on March 21, 1935 and is buried in St. Dominic Cemetery, Breese, Illinois. George Herman and Elizabeth (Ottensmeier) Moss Maria Theresa Moss was born in Altenlingen, Germany, May 25, 1845. She immigrated to the United States on May 4, 1868 from Bremen, Germany to the port of New York, several years before her mother and brothers, to be with her beloved Bernard Thole. She died September 4, 1923 and is buried in St. Rose, Illinois Cemetery. Bernard Thole was born June 10, 1845 in Hamburg, Germany. He immigrated to the United States on April 6, 1866 from Liverpool, England to New York. Somehow he made his way to St. Rose, Illinois. He and Maria Theresa were married May 4, 1869 at St. Dominic Church, Breese, Illinois. St. Rose, Illinois Church and Parish had not yet been established. He died December 8, 1913 and is buried in St. Rose, IL Cemetery. George Herman Moss was born in Altenlingen, Germany December 16, 1852 and immigrated to the United States in 1874 with his mother and brothers. He died July 13, 1920 and is buried in St. Dominic Cemetery, Breese, Illinois. He married Elizabeth Ottensmeier Nov. 12, 1878 in St. Rose, Illinois. Thole Four Generations Elizabeth (Ottensmeier) Moss was born November 10, 1858 in St. Louis, Missouri to Franz and Anna Maria (Hodinghaus) Ottensmeier. She died October 24, 1933 and is buried in an unmarked grave in St. Dominic Cemetery, Breese, Illinois. Heinrich Herman “Henry” Moss (no picture available) Heinrich Herman “Henry” Moss was born August 18, 1859 in Altenlingen, Germany and immigrated with his mother and brothers in 1874. He never married, died December 18, 1906, and is buried in St. Rose Cemetery. Anna Marie (Haverland) Moss, wife of Johan Albert Moss was born December 20, 1813 in Altenlingen, Germany to Gerhard and Euphenia (Varel) Haverland. She and Johan were married May 4, 1842 in Altenlingen, Germany. She died April 9, 1903 in St. Rose, Illinois and is buried there. She immigrated to the United States along with her three sons, Bernard Herman, George Herman and Henrich Herman arriving in Baltimore, Maryland on March 17, 1874 on a ship from Bremen, Germany named the “Berlin”. The ship docket actually spells their last name as Moos. Anna and her sons all came to St. Rose, Illinois to be with her daughter Maria Theresa.
