A Look Inside a KICKER Subwoofer
KICKER consistently pushes the limits of
subwoofer performance with bold advances in
style and technology that continually raise the
standards against which all other subs are
judged. In 2002 KICKER unleashes another
awesome lineup of subwoofers sure to send the
rest of car stereo world back to the drawing
boards.
A History of Firsts
Staying ahead of the pack is nothing new. From
the creation of the Original KICKER®, KICKER’s
history is a history of “firsts”. Many features now
considered essential in high performance car
stereo subs were pioneered by the KICKER design
team. Some trendsetting KICKER subwoofer firsts
include:
• The Solo-Baric® L7 – the first square subwoofer
• The Solo-Baric - the first “small box” subwoofer
• The Perimeter Venting motor cooling system
• The Inverted Structural Dome™ (ISD™)
• The Freeair™ -the first sub designed specifically
for infinite baffle installations
• The UniPlate™ pole/backplate
• The one-piece extended pole
• The stitched surround
• The list goes on...
1 Rigid speaker frame (cast aluminum on Solo-Baric® L7, steel on the rest) for
precision alignment and motor structure support.
2 One-piece extended pole, a KICKER first for superior power handling,
3 UniPlate™ construction combines backplate and
extended pole piece in a single unit to maximize
magnetic efficiency and minimize misalignment.
4 Black plating on UniPlate and top plate for cool
operation and extended voice coil life.
6
8
5 Deep bumped back plate lets voice coil reach
maximum excursion without bottoming-out.
9
6 Advanced cone materials with superior internal
damping for ultra-fast transient response and super-low
distortion.

Comparing the Incomparable
One factor in how loud you can
expect a sub to go is its “Vmax,”
or how much air it can push. You
can figure Vmax by multiplying
the “Sd” (area of the cone) times
the “Xmax” (how far the cone
can move). That’s “Vmax = Sd x
Xmax” for you math types.
Another factor is, of course, how
much power the sub can handle.
7 Inverted Structural Dome (ISD™), a KICKER exclusive,
locks into cone for unmatched structural integrity.
8 Tough, flexible surround resists tears.
When it’s time for Livin’ Loud, nothing touches a
KICKER sub – nothing comes close.
9 Stitched attachment makes separation between
reinforced cone edge and heavy-duty surround virtually
impossible.
10 Multi-layer voice coil and Kapton® former create superior
magnetic field and effectively dissipate heat.
5
11 Double apex coil/cone attachment prevents separation.
12 Durable spider provides precise coil alignment and critical cone motion
control.
13 Heavy-duty terminals with built-in strain relief
prevent speaker
lead breakage and improve flex life of the high-power leads.
14 Rubberized boot on Solo-Baric, CompVR, and Impulse
Marine protects massive magnet structures from
chipping or breaking.
But put away your calculator. We
did the math and created this chart
to give you a simplified view of the relative output
potential across the entire KICKER lineup. The chart
illustrates the combined Vmax and power handling of
every KICKER subwoofer, grouped by size. And
keep this in mind. KICKER’s smallest sub, the
C8 on the right, can still crush you – life
just gets louder and louder as you climb
to the top of the line.
15 Front and rear gaskets insure an airtight seal.

If “Go Big or Go Home” are words you live by, KICKER
Solo-Barics are your subwoofers. The world’s first (and
only) square subs push up to 20% more air than round
subs of the same size, and moving air is what making
bass is all about. Grab some big air with Solo-Baric subs –
you’ll like the way it looks from the top.
KICKER Solo-Baric L7 Subwoofer
How do you improve the drivers that totally reshaped
how the world looks at subwoofer performance? Turn
loose KICKER’s sick sub scientists and say “WE WANT
LOUDER!” What you’ll get is a sub with longer throw,
lower distortion, and impossible power handling for
greater gut-pounding power potential than any KICKER
sub – ever. From the glowing titanium on the ultra-rigid
cone to the sturdy cast aluminum basket, every detail
points to one purpose – over-the-top bass beyond your
wildest dreams. When you’re ready to test the limits of
low and loud, you’re ready for the Solo-Baric L7.
KICKER Solo-Baric L5 Subwoofer
Nobody gives you the tremendous output advantage of
square subs but KICKER, and now the all-new L5 SoloBaric doubles your options. Built around a rugged steel
frame, the L5 is slammed with performance features
borrowed from its big brother L7 – extra-length dual voice
coils, huge motor structure, heavy-duty large bore
terminals, sealed or vented box capability, and, of course,
KICKER’s patented square subwoofer technology. Power
handling? The Solo-Baric L5 loves mondo power that
would rip lesser drivers to shreds.

Deep, solid, bullet-proof, LOUD – that’s what
made KICKER Competition the biggest name in
bass. The latest subs to sport the KICKER Comp
badge take the legend to new highs – or should
we say lows?
KICKER Comp
KICKER CompVR®
Are you ready to rumble? With CompVR in your
corner you’re ready for anything – as long as it’s
loud. Whether you crave tight solid bottom from
sealed boxes or pounding low end thrash from
vented boxes, KICKER’s most powerful round sub
pours it on. For the totally deranged bass freak,
the CompVR even comes in a fiendish 18-inch one
gigawatt beast – a foot-and-a-half of brutal lowdown roar. Like the Solo-Baric subs, CompVR
2-Ohm dual voice coil subs give you 1- or 4-Ohm
wiring options and 4-Ohm DVC models operate at
2- or 8-Ohm impedances.
KICKER CompVR
KICKER Comp®
Inch for inch, dollar for dollar, pound for pound –
we defy you to find a sub that rocks like the
incomparable KICKER Comp. It’s our most
affordable sub, but you’ll never know by listening
or looking. It’s KICKER through and through, with
all the killer design/performance features you
expect. Like the CompVR, the KICKER Comp kicks
that famous KICKER bass from a sealed or vented
cabinet– the Comp even rocks without a box. The
sound remains the same – power handling and
the resulting bass volume level increase as you go
from the Comp to the CompVR.
KICKER 10M Marine Subwoofer
Damn the torpedoes and full speed ahead –
KICKER goes to sea with this water-resistant
model. Pop a couple of these in your boat and
prepare to blow everyone else out of the water.
Optional speaker guard adds
tough looks and protection

You need your music real. Not “yeah-thatkinda-sounds-close” real, but “in-your-face
sounds-like-you’re-in-the-pit” real. That’s
Resolution™ – the high-powered highperformance drivers from KICKER.
KICKER Resolution Midrange Drivers
Pick one up. Feel the heft of the rock-solid cast
aluminum baskets. Check out the butyl rubber
surrounds on the titanium-coated cones. You
can tell this is a mid that can take punishing
amounts of power without bailing – perfect
for keeping up with your KICKER subs. That’s
important because the midrange makes the
music, and puny poser mids can trash your
tunes.
KICKER Resolution Tweeters
For tweeters that can keep it loud and tight all day and
night, say you want a Resolution – the high end of the
“high-end.” High intensity neodymium magnets and
advanced dome materials (impregnated silk on the R25
and R19, titanium on the R22, and Kaladex on the R19)
keep it real, even at extreme levels. Just in case you get
totally out of control, fast-acting protection in the
crossovers help reduce wipe-outs.
KICKER Resolution Matched Component Systems
Take two Resolution midrange drivers – add a pair of silkdome Resolution tweeters – tie it all together with a couple of precision-engineered crossover/protection networks – throw in mounting options for any installation
you can dream up – KICKER Resolution Matched
Component Systems make creating the ultimate car
stereo a no-brainer.
KICKER Resolution RS6
KICKER Resolution Midbass Drivers
If a three-way is good, then a four-way is even better –
putting an ultra-thin Resolution Midbass between your
sub and midrange creates the tightest bottom end you
can imagine. Shallow enough to fit in a door (the 8-inch
RMB8 is a mere 2-1/4 inches thick), tough enough to
hammer you senseless – with sound and style to bring
the bump up front where it belongs. If you’re short on
space, they even go low enough to use as freeair subwoofers. An 8-inch sub in the door - that’s really Livin’
Loud!

Stand up. Go immediately to
your driveway and rip out those
funky paper factory speakers.
“Now what do I do about these
holes,” you ask? Put in the all-new
KICKER K-Series Coax or Component
System. Then crank it up and take a
trip to the Land of Livin’ Loud.
KICKER K-Series Coaxial and 3-Way
Speakers
What’ll they fit? Waddaya got? With
ten models, ranging from the soundsway-bigger-than-it-looks K35 3.5-inch 2way to the K693 6x9-inch 3-way
monster, there’s one to drop right into just
about anything on four wheels. All have curvilinear
polygraphite woofer cones and titanium-deposit
neodymium tweeters, the long way of saying these can
really cause some commotion. The K693 adds a 2.5-inch
midrange. Most come with grills, and they sound as
intense as they look.
KICKER K-Series Component Systems
Custom system or just replacing factory stuff, pick these
matched sets and you’ll end up with some serious
sounds. The heavy-duty woofers are built tough with the
same advanced materials as the other K-Series drivers, so
you can pound on ’em for a long time and they’ll still
rock. Want to be a little different? – mount the one-inch
(25mm) titanium-deposit tweeters over the center of the
woofers for some killer coaxes. Of course, you can mount
them the regular ways, too, if you have to – we include
the hardware. Two 12dB/octave phase/impedancecorrected crossover/protection networks – say that fast! –
tie it all together into a really sweet system. Four
different sizes are available – the 5-inch K5.2, 5x7-inch
K57.2, 6-inch K6.2, and 6.5-inch K65.2.

Substation™
People can’t shut up about these sneaky-loud
giant killers. The KS80 and KS60 Substations’
vented design gives you all kinds of installation
options. Boundary-load the bass vents (face the
vent toward the corner), and you get smooth low
bass. For bigger, boosted bass just fire the woofer
into the corner and bang away. What you do is
between you and your music. The KS80’s special
Bass Contour Adaptor also lets you choose
between a sealed or vented box.
KICKER SS1000
KICKER KSR-Series Substation™
A ready-to-install high performance bandpass
system, the KICKER KSR100’s box design drastically
boosts the 10-inch sub’s bass output while it limits
the higher frequencies.
Its sleek contour vent
kills port turbulence,
the noise created by
the huge amounts of
air pumped out
when the
subwoofer does its
thing. Leave the
huffin’ and puffin’
to the wimps –
with the KSR100
all you hear is

Powered Substations™
This really is “instant bass” – powerful
KICKER subwoofer amps built right into
KICKER Substations for the ultimate in
plug’n’play. We’re only talking three or
four wires here - it’s so clean you can even
have your mama’s car hammering in
minutes without messing up her precious
interior. There’s plenty of control, too, for
matching your Powered Substation to
virtually any system.

The KICKER Legend
began with the The
Original KICKER® - car
stereo’s first full-range
speaker box. They may
call the pretenders
“Kicker boxes,” but
there’s only one KICKER.
Almost thirty years
later, we’re still crankin’
’em out and the people
are still crankin’ ’em up.
What sets KICKER Box
apart, aside from the
fact that it was our idea
in the first place? A
genuine KICKER woofer,
for starters, loaded in a
vented enclosure so it
really slams (the SS600
uses sealed boxes). Add
some great sounding
top-end drivers,
sprinkle on some
KICKER magic, and you
have that legendary
KICKER sound, 21st
Century style.
Hook-up’s a snap, too.
And if you think ahead
and use extra-long
speaker wire, you can
even pull out your KICKER Box
and turn it up for Livin’ Loud
wherever the party takes you!

KICKER ST Truck Boxes
Like the Original KICKER, ST boxes mount behind a truck
seat. The two-way ST1000 and ST800 combine specialdesign KICKER woofers with exponential
mid/high-frequency drivers for the high
PSR100
end. The woofers bang you in the back,
and the high frequency drivers fire up so
the sound isn’t gagged by the seat back.
KICKER SS Car Boxes
All the drivers on the SS boxes are frontfiring, so they’re perfect for mounting in
the rear of your SUV or hatchback. All are
two-way one-piece boxes, except for the
SS600 with dual water-resistant molded
enclosures.

engineered for a single purpose – unleashing massive
energy into that low-down territory where the bass
monster lives. KICKER builds in an army of control
features so you can light the fuse on all this power and

It’s called tweaking –
that final set of
adjustments that can
mean the difference
between sounding good
and sounding insanely
great. Here are your tools
for dialing it in like a pro.
KICKER KQ30 30-Band EQ and
Pre-Amp
Thirty bands of 12dB cut or boost at
1/3-octave spacing mean ultimate
frequency control in stereo or
mono. A scorching 9-volt output lets you pour on
the signal to your amps. Adjustable
input and output controls for each
channel add more control, and
fast-acting clip indicators keep
things from getting too crazy.
KICKER KQ5 5-Band EQ and Pre-Amp
The KQ5 slices the spectrum into
five bands with variable center
frequencies. Cut/boost is 12dB, and
output is a strong 7 volts. Two sets
of inputs allow line switching, and
front/rear outputs have fader
control. There’s even a knob that
lets you control bass boost on most
KICKER amps right from your dash.
KICKER KQ30
KICKER KQ5
KICKER IQ900
KICKER IQ900 9-Band EQ and PreAmp
A ton of features are packed in this
little half-DIN dash-mount box. You
get nine bands of 12dB cut or boost
(one especially for bass), two
18dB/octave active crossovers (one
high-pass and one low-pass), a subbass output controller, and lots more.
KICKER X2i & X3i
KICKER x3i and x2i Electronic Crossovers
The x3i is 3-way, the x2i is 2-way, and both
are way cool for getting the right
frequencies to the right speakers as only
active electronic crossovers can. Slopes are
18dB/octave with variable frequencies, and output
is 5 volts. The x3i adds a sub-sonic filter and
remote control bass boost.
