Located in the colorful deserts of
Southwest Wyoming, Rock Springs
is the fourth largest city in Wyoming.
The area is rich in history and outdoor
attractions.
Magnificent high desert scenery, golf,

on Flaming Gorge and the Green River,
and off-road adventures in nearby sand
dunes provide great opportunities for
outdoor escapes.

Mountain and view pronghorn herds
across the Green River Basin, rare
desert elk in the Red Desert, or water
fowl in the Seedskadee National Wildlife
Refuge.
The Rock Springs area
offers recreation centers,
golf courses, restaurants,
shopping, and outdoor
activities including
camping, fishing, mountainbiking, backpacking, trap,
rifle, archery, and pistol

has captured numerous
championships and played in
national tournaments
Western Wyoming
Community College’s
vision is to provide lifelong
learning opportunities in an
environment characterized
by a commitment to quality
and success. The Mustang
intercollegiate athletic teams
are definitely a vital part of
WWCC and the surrounding
community. For the athlete
and the non-athlete, Mustang
athletics enhances the
overall learning experience
on campus. WWCC
athletics has a strong
tradition of serving the local
community and is honored
to serve an area rich in
tradition, natural beauty
and friendly people. The
coaches and athletes alike
enjoy performing for and
interacting with community
members, organizations,
local business and industry.
11
Student Life
Western has taken
advantage of the natural
history from the local
area and has one of the
most extensive dinosaur
collections in the Rocky
Mountain region.
Dinosaurs are displayed
throughout the campus and
are complemented by the
Natural History Museum and
Weidner Wildlife Collection.
At Western, learning is not
limited to the classroom.
In fact, academic
opportunities seem to crop
up everywhere–on stage, in
laboratories and in athletic
competition.
Students get involved
in “Hands-On” learning
activities during the
freshman and sophomore
years that help them decide
on a major. Education majors
work in local schools during
their first year. Social science
majors can serve as interns;
exercise science majors get
the opportunity to work as
personal trainers; students
interested in archaeology
and geology can participate
in field studies in Wyoming,
Colorado and around the
world.
