the News of Time to Dance! Our participants had several occasions to dance this month including the Valentine’s Day Party, which many family members attended, and the Mardi Gras Party, which featured music of New Orleans. Family members and friends are always welcome at special events like these. Scheduling Notes for March Please remember: Adult Care of Chester County will be closed on Saturday, March 24th for the annual Spring Staff In-Service Day. This yearly training day is an important part of our staff education. If your loved one normally attends on Saturdays, please be reminded that we will not be open on March 24th. Thank you. We are, however, open on Good Friday. If you wish to make any changes to your loved one’s regular schedule, please let us know. Thank you. Welcoming New Participants George A., Holbrook B., Albert D., Virginia L., Maria Lisa M., Judy N., Owen P., Robert Y. 3 Participant Spotlight: Gwen Robinson Gwendolyn Robinson was born on November 29, 1935 in Detroit Michigan. She grew up in Newport News, Virginia. After graduation from high school there, she attended St. Paul’s College in Lawrenceville, Virginia for 2 years. It was at college that Gwen met Kenneth Robinson, her husband. The two were married on May 25, 1955 and were married for 32 years, until Kenneth passed away in 1987. Gwen is the mother of 4 children, Diane (Watson), Stephanie (Williams), Kenneth Robinson Jr. and George Robinson. Gwen has one grandson, Justin Watson. Gwen enjoyed her career as Secretary at Henderson High School in West Chester. She loved being involved with the students. They would always come to her with their problems. Her daughter tells us, “All of my friends thought my Mom was the greatest!” Gwen enjoyed opportunities to travel and travelled across the United States with her husband to see the Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. She also took several cruises. Gwen was always an avid shopper, took great pride in decorating her home, and always enjoyed entertaining. She also had a knack for helping people stay organized and served as secretary in any social group to which she belonged. Today Gwen’s gentle spirit and great smile brings joy to all of us. We are happy that she is a part of our Exton family. News from Southern Chester County Center In February our Center was transformed into a place of love with the many valentines we created in pink, red, and white, and adorned with jewels and ribbons. We couldn’t let Presidents Day go unnoticed so some participants made “log cabins” in honor of Abe Lincoln. Another of our favorite activities, especially for those in the ATF program, is singing. We start all our singing sessions with the ATF Theme Song which features the names of all our participants. Our fun singalong time always includes “If You’re Happy and You Know It,” and “Take me out to the Ball Game.” The days are flying by and before we know it we’ll be moved and settled into our new digs! Update on Southern Chester County Center’s Relocation The architects and many others have been busy working behind the scenes getting the layout just right and all of the technical aspects ready. Next step is the permit process and once the permits are issued the construction will begin. Since it is now the beginning of March, our April target is no longer realistic and we are probably looking at May. An update will be provided monthly. On Saturday, May 5th Adult Care of Chester County will be partnering with Phoenixville Area Senior Center to host the Auction Gala as a fundraiser to benefit both agencies. The event will be held at Atria Woodbridge, 1191 Rapps Dam Road, in Kimberton. There will be live and silent auctions, a 50/50 Raffle, and plenty of food and beverages. If you have items or gift cards to donate towards this fundraiser, please contact us at 610-363-8044. Tickets are $35 and can be ordered in advance by calling Dave at 610-363-8044 or by visiting www.acofcc.org. Raffle Tickets Enclosed! During these difficult economic times people still seem to take chances that they will win money. We would like to give them the opportunity to win but we need your help. Each family is receiving 24 raffle tickets and we are asking that you sell them to help Adult Care of Chester County raise money. The price is $1.00 each or 6 for $5.00. If every family sells just 24 tickets, that would be $1,200 toward the prize. Some people sell more than 24 tickets and this is a joint project with the Phoenixville Area Senior Center so even more will be sold. Last year the winning prize was $2,500. Please sell as many tickets as you can. Please return those you cannot sell so we can re-distribute them. Research Study Still Seeking Volunteer Caregivers!
