It is designed for the middle aged or elderly to strengthen and tone muscles, tendons, joints and glands. You won’t have to get up and down from the floor but can benefit from postures performed on and around the chair. Chair yoga is a wonderfully gentle way to keep in shape or get back into shape. You will learn proper breathing so that your body is using oxygen at maximum capacity which influences the flow of blood while you are in a posture. The gentle movements, holding a pose, breath and blood move to the various joints and systems providing a ‘squeeze and soak’ effect which is all your body desires to feel good, heal, and offer a sense of wellbeing. After the first class we will work with 1-3 lb. weights for part of the class to increase strength and stamina. There will be a short relaxation and meditation portion toward the end of the class.
