Weather the storm
T
his time of year, temperatures in my part of the country are dropping. A
few minutes each morning are spent scraping ice from car windows, and
daily walks to the coffee shop hardly seem worth the bundling and shivering. The baristas next door probably don’t appreciate that sentiment (especially
since Starbucks’ numbers are down).
A lot of other businesses are feeling the chill too. The Labor Department
reported that the consumer price index fell 1.0 percent in October. This meant
more to me when I read that it was the biggest one-month decrease in consumer
prices since they started measuring these things more
than 60 years ago. Like our temperatures, the economy
is taking a pitch. And like weather reporters, financial
forecasters can’t seem to make up their minds about
when it will turn around, either.
Whenever it turns—and it will sometime—it’s crucial
now to keep up with the competition. Use this buyer’s
guide to spark new ideas about your business. Look
through the product listings and explore opportunities
for pursuing new markets, offer what the other guy doesn’t and keep up with the

find the product you are looking for and the page number where the listing for that
product begins.
2. Turn to that page in the product directory. Select the name of the company.
3. Turn to the company directory for the contact information of the selected company.
