Well, hello there Teenz readers,
hope everything is superb with
you all. And why wouldn’t things
be superb? After all , you’re
young, you’re educated and have
your entire future ahead of you
that you can shape, design and
color, wait here’s the best part,
just the way you like it.
“Not really. Life as a teenager
is a drag” you might complain.
And of course, with all the exams
pressure, the minimal pocket
money to survive in and the
whole need to conduct the act
of “coolness” in front of friends
all the while, being constantly
pestered by nagging guardians…
phew!
TEENAGE- yes it indeed could
very well be just an over-rated
term. I feel you.
But, nonetheless, ask any
adult and they will tell you that
teenage years were in fact a very
special time of their lives.
These are the years of your
very firsts; your first crush, your
first gang of friends, your first
college, your first job. And there
are some other unpleasant firsts to
deal with too like your first pimple,
your first break up (although really
hoping not)- these are the years
that demands you to get out of
your comfort zone to pursue new
challenges. While it can be scary,
it’s definitely not short of excitement
if taken with a spirit of adventure.
And therefore, we here at
Teenz, hope to do just that. We
hope to inform, inspire, educate
and entertain you and most
importantly be your friend.
Dear readers, this copy you
have in your hands is the 5th
edition of Teenz for the month of
June. And to let out yet another
information, I just happened to
join the team too and am much
excited to be a part of it.
Well, until the next issue, we
hope to have gotten enough
comments and suggestions from
your part to make Teenz the
magazine you will love. Help us
grow as you grow with us.
We shall see you again with
our July issue soon enough. Take
good care of yourselves until then.
Much love,
Samriddhi Rai

The movie revolves around
two actresses Cindy Campbell
(Anna Farris) and Brenda
Meeker (Regina Hall). These
two characters of the movie hop
between different scenes from
movies like Grudge, War of the
Worlds to Million Dollar Baby and
Brokeback Mountain so smoothly
that it gives the impression of a
unique new story.
Adding to the humor are some
extremely comical scenes like
the time when Billy the puppet
(Saw) and Tom Logan (Charlie
sheen) accidentally ingest
Viagra instead of sleeping
pills to commit suicide and
ending up with a more painful
death than he could have ever
imagined.
Originally conceptualized
by Wayans Brothers this
movie has been directed by
David zucker.

Villains, beware! There’s a new
superhero in the neighborhood
- Dragonfly! As with Spiderman,
Dragonfly has superhuman strength,
a sixth sense that can sense trouble
and crime and wall climbing abilities.
Dragonfly also has an uncle, an aunt
and a lovely neighbor, the latter he
has a crush on just like spiderman.
He is a replica of spiderman along
with a lot of humor thrown in. As he
gains the power to become a nuclearreactive dragonfly, unlike Spiderman,
for Dragonfly - with great powers
come greater problems!
Debuting from this movie (for the
character Dragonfly), Dragonfly
provides viewers with pure entertainment
throughout its playtime. With a story that’s
pretty much the storyline of spiderman but
presented in a much more humorous way,
the movie will attract everyone who enjoys
the spiderman series.
Which movie

Parody movies have always tempted
me since I first discovered the genre.
Its ingenious and unpredictable use
of characters and storyline makes it a
great genre of movies.

NoT ANoTHER TEEN moViE
This is the ultimate teen movie because it presents
the superfluous teen energy that every teen
projects in his or her teenage years. The parody
plot is based upon movies like she’s all that,
Pretty in pink and 10 things i hate about you, with
scenes from American Pie, American Beauty,
Cruel intentions and so on, making the movie an
irresistible one for teenagers.
The movie is different from the other two reviewed
here because at times it gives the impression of
having too much stuffed into a mere 89 minutes.
But, it’s a teen movie after all and the use of
something known as teenager’s myths (anyone
with a guitar is cool and someone with glasses and
a ponytail is a complete nerd) and the attitude of
the teenagers towards these myths makes it more
watchable than any movie available out there.

‘Firetongue’ clinched the second spot in the third season of the
‘Sprite Band Challenge’ music competition. Formed in 2006, the
band entered the competition along with sixty or more bands and
carved their way all the way to the finals. Here, Teenz gets candid
with the band.

How did you come up with the
name firetongue?
We did not really plan on it. But
we knew we wanted a name
with some aggression. We
later decided to keep the name
‘Firetongue’, which expresses
our intention to set the stage on
fire with our music.
incorporated into one. We
take melodic blues, rock and
funk and generate music
that is different than the
kind other bands play. The
vibe that is produced is just
unique and it gives you a
new flow that is different in
it’s own way.
What kind of music do
you play?
We consider ourselves as a
‘Blues rock’ band - a fusion of
rock, blues and funk. Blues
has the melodies, rock has the
energy and we fuse the two
together when we play.
How would you describe
your experience in the
‘Sprite band challenge’?
it was a great learning
experience for us. Our stage
coordination, our music
and many other things
have improved greatly
since we participated in the
competition. The judges
mentored us a lot. We
gained a lot of exposure for
our band. The competition
provided us with a lot more
than what we had expected.
Which artiste do you think has
the most influence on your
band and why?
Jimi hendrix. He is a guitar
legend and he plays the same
kind of music as we aspire
to. He set new limits in guitar
playing which would probably
never have been discovered if it
weren’t for him.
What are your songs
mostly about?
Most of our self-composed music
is rock and they mainly relate to
the political aspects of society.
some are about politics and
some are voices against all the
evils existent in our society like
caste discrimination and creating
a better national harmony. We
have a song called ‘Awaz’ which
is about all of the people coming
together and taking our nation
forward and not getting stuck with
politics like the way it is now.
How do you think your music
stands out?
The kind of music we play
has many different styles
JUne 2011 | Teenz 17 What plans for the future
do you hold as a band?
Now that the competition
is over, we are planning to
work on an album. We want
the album to be good so we
will be taking atleast a year’s
time to get it ready. We also
intend to play live music
more often to gain more
exposure and take our music
to a wider audience.
What do you have to say
about the music industry
of Nepal?
Well, its evolving, we can
say that. It is difficult to
produce good music mainly
because there are not many
good listeners out there.
But we think the music
scene of Nepal holds much
promise for the future.

Where are those
days when we
played dandi biyo,
kabaddi, chungi,
guccha, baghchal
and other games
that have their
origins here in our
very own country?
Games like cricket,
football, tennis,
F1, and basketball
have replaced
these games in our
playgrounds and to
a large extent, in our
hearts too.
EFA Champions League
and Indian Premier League
just concluded with a new
European champion and
an IPL champion. Wimbeldon Tennis
is all set to begin. MotoGP UK Race
is also in the offing. June is the month
for the ultimate sports fanatic. Most
of your calendars might already have
been marked with the dates of the
fixtures but has anyone cared to think
about Nepali games?
‘When I was young, I played
kabaddi every evening in a small
ground in our neighborhood. Now I
see kids playing weird games every
time I walk past the same ground,’
says Jeet Bahadur Thapa, an officer
at Nepal Rastra Bank. The days when
kabaddi, dandi biyo and chungi were
a common scene in the streets of
Kathmandu and other parts of Nepal
are now lost. When asked about
what baghchal was, Abhishrey Joshi,
studying in the fifth grade at Rosebud
School College, said, ‘I have no idea
what that is. It is not in my PSP.’
These games from back in the
day are good for people of all ages.
They help in physical as well as
mental development. Kabaddi is an
energetic sport played between two
teams with seven members each.
The main point of the game is to run
to the half of the opposition’s area,
tag as many opponents you can, and
run back to one’s half. The game is
very good for the body, physically.
Similarly, dandi biyo resembles
modern day cricket. Only the sport
is played with a small piece of wood,

the biyo, replacing the ball and a
baton instead of the bat. Chungi is
a small loose ball made by using
several rubber bands. A player tries
to juggle a chungi with his leg as
many times as he can without letting
it fall to the ground - the higher the
count, the higher the score. Nepali

Electronic and print media, which
have the power to bring attention

interested. Moreover, corporate
houses only sponsor sports like
cricket and football. Beach cricket
and league football attracts plenty
of money but no one cares about
the games that have been played on
our soil for the longest time. We,
the people however, are the biggest
convicts here.We should be playing
games that were born in our nation

trends. If we do not gear up for
the development of our core games
then a day will come when these
games will only be found in history books.

Likewise, baghchal is a board game
that requires heavy thinking and
resembles the game of chess. There are
several other track and field sports like
teeta, machha kari, gatta and pitto that
originated in Nepal but they are in
serious deprivation of the kind of hype
received by popular, modern games.
The only places where the traditional
Nepali games are still played are in the
remote corners where the influence of
the modern games is yet to reach.
There are several guilty sides to be

3. Nepal participated in the 2007

My favorite Nepali book so far is
seto Bagh by Diamond shumsher
Rana. i found it to be a wonderful
mixture of historical facts and glamor.
everything is perfectly interwoven
which makes it one of the finest
Nepali literary creations. it is sad that
despite having so many great books,
we still have not been able to improve
the condition of Nepali literature
significantly. It definitely requires
more promotion and availability.
My favorite Nepali book is Ghamka Paila by Dha.
Cha. Gotamey. i love its style and presentation.
especially the character analysis is very good.
i’ve read a lot of other books but
the ones i like are Alikhit,

improve Nepali literature
if the writers do a bit
more research. They
should also have good

My favorite Nepali book is Bichar Bigyan
by Khaptad swami. The author has
amazingly illustrated the fact that with
passionate and powerful thoughts, you
can always get what you want.
i don’t think that Nepali literature needs
any improvement. We have come across
a number of masterpieces over a few
decades. it is mainly the promoting and
marketing agencies that need to work
more effectively.
it would be unfair to
choose a favorite book
from the handful of
Nepali literature i have
managed to read so far.
Nonetheless,i found
Devendra Bhattarai’s
Registan Diary very
insightful.usually i get to
converse with Nepali authors
before i pick up their book and so their voice
reads the books out to me in my head, which is a
thoroughly enjoyable experience for a reader. in

Mayur Times by Narayan Wagle is my favorite Nepali Book because the characters
are amazingly depicted in it. i can draw parallels of my life with that of one of the
characters called “Pragya”. i believe that Nepali literature is still in its infancy phase,
so it certainly requires a lot more promotion, marketing and accessibility.

EVENT
Making themselves
matter
iMatter, the international movement against climate
change—started four years ago by a 12 year old
TAlec Loorz— celebrated international iMatter March
this 7th May to 14th May. in keeping with the rest
of the world, a group of Nepali kids also organized
a march and awareness celebration here in Nepal.
The event was celebrated here in three separate
locations: Kathmandu, Chitwan and the base camp
at Mt. everest.
srijan Amatya, sandesh Ghimire, and Gunjan
Ghimire, the brains behind the project came up with
the idea pretty impromptu. srijan registered for the
march and got his friends together through facebook.
The program started with the activists gathering
before Krishna Towers where they did sit-ups
symbolizing their apology to mother nature and the
environment for all the unintended (and otherwise)
mistakes they had commited at one time or the other.
Next, the group marched all the way to Maitighar
Mandala where they sang the 350 song together and
danced. A bubblegum protest demanding fresh air
was also held. The chief guest for the event, former
environment Minister Ganesh shah congratulated
the proud organizers and said the adults should
be shameful at their lack of responsibility. Moving on, the mob
marched to Tripureshwor dancing and singing all the way, until
it finally concluded at Tundikhel. The crowd then performed
Flashmob freeze and cleaned the area.
A participant—also the British Council chosen climate
champion for this year—saugat Bhatta “The Green Man”
also supported the idea saying it portrayed the energy and
innovation of the youth.
started by a teenager, initiated, conducted and participated
by teenagers, the iMatter March was indeed an example of
the influence created by a movement when active teenagers
get together.

for the Playstation 2 entitled Clock Tower 3. Clock Tower is wellknown for its multiple endings, where the endings you got were
directly affected by the decisions you made. A game that has gone
down in history as a pioneer in the horror games industry.
2K’s latest sequel to the well-known Bioshock, does in no-way
fall behind its predecessor. You are introduced to the dystopian
environment of Rapture, the once underground utopia fallen
to human greed and corruption. The player assumes control
of a Big Daddy, a being that has been artificially morphed into
an atmospheric diving suit, called subject Delta who through
recollections searches for the Little sister that he was originally
paired with. With a stunningly horrific environment of the perfect
utopia gone wild, with mutated people called splicers hunting
you down under an evil dictators command and with Little Girls
with red glowing eyes mining futuristic liquid called eVe off of
human corpses, BioShock 2 will definitely draw you into the
horror that is now Rapture.

– Crimson Butterfly
The sacriest game i have played till date, that gave
me horrific dreams till days on end, Fatal Frame
is considered one of the best horror games of our
time. in Fatal Frame, two twin sister, Mayu and Mio
find themselves trapped in a Cursed Japanese
Village, where a failed ceremony has trapped all
of the dead. You switch between the two sisters
during the game, your enemies - spirits that haunt
the village, your weapon – a camera. The Camera
Obscura, a camera that has exorcism powers, is
the only wepon you have agaist the haunting spirits,
and the crazy part is the closer the spirits come, the
better chance you have to a Fatal Frame. Ghosts
of little Japanese girls in Kimonos to following little
crimson butterflies around the village, Fatal Frame

just make sure you play with the lights on.

5.Sharad Veswakar
Q. There is news that only
ten teams will be there for
the next world cup. This
makes the chances of Nepal
playing world cup very
bleak. What is your take on
this?
A. this is very disappointing news. We have Division
4 matches next year and if
this decision by the iCC is not
scrapped then we cannot get into the cricket world
cup. Now, our only chance is to play in the t20
World Cup and we are trying very hard to participate
in it. it’s our only hope now.
6.Shakti Gauchan
Q. Since you are a
senior member of
the team, how do
you see juniors fitting into the team?
A. time has changed.
When I first got into
the team, the team
was dominated by
senior players. But
now, there are roughly
equal number of seniors and juniors in the
team. Juniors are getting a good opportunity. moreover, the cricketing condition in
Nepal has improved a lot.
Q. How did you get into cricket?
A. i grew up watching cricket. i watched the 1996
Cricket World Cup and got very fascinated with the
sport. i started playing cricket with tennis balls. then,
a cricket academy opened nearby my house. What
would i want more? i got admitted to it and then built
my cricketing career.
Q. How do you mentor the junior
players?
A. i motivate them once in every while.
Whenever they make mistakes, i talk to
them about ways of improving the mistakes.
i share my experiences with them and try to
develop their gameplay.
Cricket World Cup just concluded but the cricket fever doesn’t seem to
subdue. We can see fanatics with bat in one hand and ball on the other
playing this gentlemen’s sport in playgrounds, parking lots, streets, and
just everywhere. teenz presents eight gentlemen who don the cricket
gear and play their hearts out to make the country proud.

7.Gyanendra Malla
Q. Nepal does well in junior level
competitions but why has not the same
success continued in the national
team?
A. the level of professionalism in cricket
in Nepal is not the same as in other
countries. When it comes to performing
at senior level, it is very tough to compete
with the professional players from much
developed nations. only one tournament
of national level is organized in Nepal
every year, therefore the quality of Nepali cricketers does not
match with
their counterparts.
Q. Do you see the probability of organizing an IPL-like tournament in Nepal?
A. it requires huge funds. We can organize a small scale tournament here. this will promote
young cricketers.
8.Prithu Baskota
Q. Which team did
you support in the
World Cup?
A. Australia. they
lost because the
balance in the
team was not good.
hopefully, they will
do great in future
matches.
Q. Who is your favorite cricketer?
A. ricky Ponting.
Q. How did you adjust into the senior
team after coming from the Under 19
team?
A. i was very comfortable. i had played
with the players before and i could easily
adjust in the team.

Q. Where do you see Australia now as it is
no more a dominant team in world cricket?
A. Aussies were world champions for such a
long time. i guess it was about time for some
other team to come up to challenge their reign.
But one can never write-off Australia. they can
bounce back anytime. even though they did
not win the world cup, Australia is always my
favorite team.
Q. Amir Akhtar and some other former players have a lodged a case against Cricket Association of Nepal
(CAN) for its slack operations. How do you take this decision?
A. it was high time that somebody somewhere take an action against
CAN. CAN is being very lax in its activities and this step was needed. i
hope this leads into something positive.

ho says success is only old people’s thing? Recently, young people who
haven’t even reached the first quarter of their lives have challenged the
age-old myth and have proved that there is no stopping to the young
generation. Teenz presents five of the popular youths in Nepal who
have been making headlines for the good work they do. These prodigies have excelled
in their respective field and stand as the role models for all the youth. Read about how
they reached such great heights so early on in their careers.
Asmi Shrestha, Model
I
have just completed my
A Levels. I have been into
modeling since the past two
years. And, I am a typical
Cancerian at heart. That is, I
can be very moody at times. I
love spending time with my family.
Describe us your journey, the
challenges, and the hurdles you
came across.
I started my modeling career with
an advertisement when I was 15.
From there on, I have been doing
shoots of all kinds. I have been
enjoying the modelling industry
so far as I get chances to meet new
people and interact with them.
There have been a few hassles
though. Like payment issues
and some people even exploit
models.I have been asked to dress
in revealing clothes, but I have
always been against it. I try my
best to avoid those kind of people.
Moreover, there are the exams
pressure to watch out for.
Do your family and friends fully
support you? How hard/easy was
it to earn their trust and support?
Yes, they support me at all times.
They love my shows. At times, I
might have to stay out late and they
understand the situation. It was
because of my sister that I got my
first opportunity to be featured in
a cover of a magazine. My family’s
love, care, and encouragement has
been my key to success.
Tell us about the turning point in
your career.
Being featured in the cover of Living
was a great opportunity. I got famous
after that and began to be recognized.
Were you very sure from the
beginning about what you wanted
to do?
Yes. I was quite sure because when
I met people, they complimented
my looks. They said that I had a
good height and everything to be a
successful model.
Have you changed? What are the
differences between the old you
and the present you?
I am growing every day. My
personality has improved. I have
become outspoken and I can handle
strangers properly. Everything from
my appearance to attitude has been better.
You are just beginning your career
and people have already started
to appreciate and recognize your
work in this early phase. How
does it feel to be appreciated for
what you are passionate about?
A lot. Yes there are times when
I have a busy schedule and
time management is hard but I
always make up for all of that.
Family comes first for me.
Do you plan to continue in
the same field? What are your
future plans?
Of course, I do. There might be
breaks in between though. I am
looking forward to continue
my undergraduate abroad. But
I will come back. I still have to
participate in a beauty pageant
someday.
What about your studies and
other commitments? How
hard is it to balance all that
Modeling is a wonderful profession.
But be careful of what to choose and
what not to. You should never forget
who you are. There are people out
there who try to exploit you and you
need to learn to stay away from them.
Awesome. People know me already.
But I know that I have a lot more to
achieve. And, I am here to stay.
Do you miss living a normal
teen life?
Sometimes I do. Times are hectic.
Privacy is a problem. And there are
pressure and all. But it has been a
fun experience till date.
How is your teen life different from
other teen’s lives?
When I go out for parties and other
events, people recognize me and
I feel special. I feel different from
the rest of the crowd. But, I do not
misuse the fame I have got.
Do you get to spend time
with your family and friends
generously?
with what you do?
It is hard. I have to balance
my studies, exams, and shoots.
One time, I had a shoot right
before a day of my exams. But I
managed it. I think I can handle
it well.
Would you encourage your
contemporaries to join you in
the field?
Modeling is a wonderful
profession. But be careful of
what to choose and what not
to. You should never forget who
you are. There are people out
there who try to exploit you
and you need to learn to stay
away from them. I decide what
is good for me and that is what
everyone needs to learn.

Yeah they do. My family is very musically inclined: most of my uncles, brothers and cousins play, so they accepted it relatively easily. Th

Th

Were you very sure from the beginning
about what you wanted to do?
I would want to continue doing that. However, I am looking more towards Sufi these days.

everybody is busy, busy, busy. So, I’m not complaining. Have you changed? What are the
differences between the old you

Oh, there are lots of changes. I’m more serious about what I do now, although I still play for myself more than anything. Also, when you’re young, you are more ideal than realistic when it comes to music and money. I’ve come to be more practical nowadays, I think.
How does it feel to be appreciated
for what you are passionate about?
It feels great. I love playing the guitar and I love experimenting with it. From how I’ve turned from metal to Indie fusion to jazz and now sufi , I love creating music.

I simply cannot live without gajal

Train of Thought
O
ne of my friend’s dog
slipped into a coma the
other day, “He’s serious,”
she told me, grabbing all
her belongings and ramming it into
her bag and behind all the love and
care, I saw a sadness that had taken
root. Being an adult meant getting
attached to a lot of things, be it your
friends, your job or even an intimate
item. You care, maybe just a little
too much and that’s what makes it
harder, harder when you lose that
something that meant a lot to you.
Seeing my friend worried to death
about something she cared so much
about, made me think of my dog, who
loved me more than it loved itself.
Silence can come in many ways;
it can come as love between two
lovers, as anger between two friends
and as death between two worlds.
Silence came to me heavy with death,
clogging every breath I took with
sadness unbearable with memories.
I kept reminding myself of how she
would be the one, waiting for me
just outside my door, every morning,
wagging her tail as furiously as she
could. It reminded me of how she
would bark her life out every time
I went away and how happy she
seemed when I came back. How she
would sense my sadness every time
and come cuddle next to me, how
she followed me around when I first
brought her home, like I was the one
who’d protect her. I miss her now,
more than I’ve missed anyone, I miss
her. I hate coming home and not
finding her barking, wagging her tail,
waiting for me. I hate spending silent
nights in my room waiting for her
bark to sound, but it never does and all
that keeps me company is the silence
in my room and the hole in my soul.

It was a terrible death, she
suffered long and every time the
vet shook his head and readied
the saline tube, I died. I held her
paw, dirty with last night’s puke,
while the clear liquid entered her
blood stream. From time to time,
she would suddenly stand up and
puke out what little liquid we’d
managed to feed her. I would
whisper how she would be better
soon but she never did and I don’t
even know if she understood what
I had said. There was a terrible cry
of pain one night and then she
was gone. I was happy that her
pain had finally ended and she
finally disappeared into the light
but it hurt me more to realize that
the best friend that I really had
wouldn’t be there for me anymore.
I live with the silence now, and
with the hole that never seems to
heal. It just seems to widen every
time I see another dog, every time
I blurt out, “that one looks like
her” even though I was the only
one who’d actually known how
she looked. I have a picture of
her on my computer, her white
fur ghostly and her eyes full of
warmth. A picture is the only way
I guess, to remember her now. To
recall her in a mind that wanders
so easily, a picture to remind
me of what used to be. A dog is
a man’s best friend, they say, a
friend till the end.

t is crucial to know the application components while applying to U.S. colleges and universities. Sending unnecessary documents or missing important documents could convey wrong signals to the institutions you are applying to. Th
e application to U.S. colleges and universities consists of fi ve essential elements. Additional materials may be required to apply to more competitive institutions, especially ones that off er good scholarships. Remember that all components of your application, whether submitt ed electronically or by mail (or a combination of both), must reach the college before its deadline date.
Application Form
A college or university’s application form can be easily downloaded from the college or university website free of cost. Please make sure that all the information you write on the form is valid and correct. Colleges use the information on the form to generate the I-20. Th
us you must fi ll the form neatly (either typed or in very clear handwriting) so that the admissions offi
cers are able to review what you have writt en. Many colleges have online application forms which you may submit electronically.
Application Fee
Th
e application fee is a nonrefundable processing fee for each college and it ranges from $20 - $100. Th
is fee may be paid in the form of a dollar draft payable to the college you are applying to. If you have severe fi nancial hardship and are unable to pay the application fee, you may be able to use an “application fee waiver” which is an explanatory lett er writt en by your school Principal or school Guidance Counselor. Please use this option only if you are truly unable to aff ord the application fee, else your application may not be reviewed. Attested Transcripts
In nepal, most students receive only one set of original marksheets and supporting documents. Hence, in order to present your academic credentials to U.S. colleges and universities, you can send copies of your transcripts and certifi cates which are att ested by USeF-nepal or by your issuing Board Offi
ce. Financial Documents
Generally, colleges and universities ask for a bank statement and sponsor letter. A sponsor is someone who is able and is willing to pay for your education. In the case of nepal, it is usually the parents who sponsor their child. Any other sponsor should have genuine reasons to pay for your education. The willingness to pay for your education is shown by a letter which the sponsor writes. The sponsor must be able to provide a bank statement which should contain a minimum of one year’s cost of attendance at that college or university. If a student is applying for scholarship, then the statement should reflect at least the amount that the sponsor is willing to contribute per year.

With the above five components, you
can apply for admissions to some
colleges. However, if you are applying
to competitive colleges or to colleges
that offer good scholarships, you will
most likely require these additional
materials:
Additional Standardized Test
Scores
SAT/ ACT and SAT Subject Tests may be required for undergraduate applicants. Please note that you must order score reports to be sent to the colleges or universities via each testing program.
Application Essay
Th

Teachers who have taught you in class can write a recommendation lett er for you. Usually, colleges ask for two to three lett ers of recommendation. Lett ers should be from your most recent teachers who have taught you. A strong recommendation lett er from your teacher providing explanations about JUne 2011 | Teenz 73 how you performed in class can be very helpful. It should give a clear idea about the type of student you were and what kind of activities you participated in. Recommendation lett ers carry a lot of weight; students should think carefully about who to choose as their recommenders.
Supporting Materials
Th
is can mean a resume or any form of creative work you have done. For example, if you are good at playing a musical instrument, you can send a recording on Cd. Supporting materials can also mean valuable certifi cates or awards you have received. You can att est these certifi cates from the issuing institution. Send only those certifi cates that are very important to you and those that will make you stand out in the application pool. Also, there will be a space on the application form to write about the diff erent activities you have participated in. For detailed information on the

Aries
March 21 to April 20
As the first sign of the zodiac you
have a desire to set the trends
instead of plainly following them.
You are probably the first one in
your generation to straighten your
hair, chop it off real short, ink or
pierce your body or put on a heavy
dramatic make-up. Aries controls
the head, so you get headaches
when you’re under stress or have
a fever, accidents leave marks on
your head.
Taurus
April 21 to May 21
Amir Akhtar
(Born: 26th June. Ex-cricketer,
shangrila Cricket Academy)
Although i don’t play top class cricket
anymore, i make it a point to keep
my body in shape, so that i remain
mentally and physically active at my
work and other daily routines. i go for
running three times or at least twice
a week. i sometimes hit the gym just
to tone up but not really to make
muscles. Yes, i do play cricket during
the weekends but this monsoon i
would like to try playing squash.
Regarding my food habits, i have
cereals for breakfast with eggs or
some fruits. i avoid eating oily food
for breakfast. Lunch is usually very
light and i prefer breads and roti for
dinner. When i am out, i usually eat
vegetarian food as i only eat
Halal meat.
Cancer
June 22 to July 22
Cancerians are generally known
to have nice teeth and beautiful
smile. They normally have brown
hair and pale skin. They know
how to charm people and capture
all their attention. Cancerians
use food as consolation when
upset, this often results in obesity
and food allergies. Cancer rules
elbows, stomach, liver and
digestive organs. Watch out for
stomach ulcer, indigestion
and jaundice.
Leo
July 23 to August 22
No other sign does classic
elegance like Taurus does but you
get stuck in a rut from time to time.
You are a little lazy and physically
inert and by far prefer to be an
audience to sports than participate
in it. Taureans can easily put on
extra weight, so if you, kill the
sluggishness in you and go for
gentler types of exercises as yoga
and dance, it will do you well.
Vivid, vibrant and compassionate, you
were born to take all the attention and
the center stage. Leos may appear to
be strict fashion followers but in the
end they break rules and invent their
own style. You are full of energy, bit of
a party animal and have an inclination
to often neglect your health. Leo
controls the heart and the spines so
be careful and treat these parts of the
body with care.
Gemini
Virgo
May 22 to June 21
August 23 to september 22
Geminians are blessed and are often
described as ‘perpetual teenagers’ as
they always look striking and younger
than their actual age. You are not
interested in day to day trappings
of a beauty regime as you’ve got
more important things than beauty
on your mind.Gemini rules the lungs
and shoulders so are vulnerable to
bronchitis, tuberculosis and anemia.
Virgos are blessed with attractive
features and tend to be lean. However
they may have a tendency to put on
excess weight. Virgos are very health
conscious thus extremely choosy
when it comes to food and its quality.
Yoga and meditation are the best
medicine to calm your nervous system
and sensitive constitution.

Health and Beauty
Libra
Scorpio
Sagittarius
september 23 to October 22
October 23 to November 21
november 22 to december 21
As a rule Librans have eye-catching
faces and are full of grace. Both the
sexes are fussy about their body and
the way they look. Ruled by beautyloving Venus, Librans turn shopping
into an art form.
Things around you involve the notion
of stability and balance so make sure
that your body and mind are very
well balanced. Drinking lots of water
is your best medicine as your sign is
associated with liver and kidneys.
scorpions are typically known for their
mysterious looking deep eyes, curvy body
and magnetic personality. scorpions
mostly clad themselves with dark colored
clothes that cultivate an attractive look with
grand flamboyance. Scorpions actually
need regular exercising as they are full of
powerful and dominating energies. sports
like kick boxing, swimming cycling, martial
arts and working out in a gym are ideal to
keep your mind and body toned
and balanced.
sagittarians often have open smiley faces
and flexible, brawny and poised body with
strong and long legs. Both the sexes of
this zodiac like to dress informally and
feel most at ease in clothes that don’t
restrict their movements.For a sagittarian,
keeping yourself mentally fit is as
important as keeping yourself physically
robust. Fresh air is your best medicine so,
go out in the parks, go for long walks and
jogs, trekking, camping to keep yourself
in shape by doing something you enjoy.
Capricorn
Aquarius
Pisces
December 22 to January 19
januarY 20 to februarY 18
February 19 to March 20
Capricorns usually have flawless
etiquettes. They have an innate sense
of modesty, social elegance and
conventional look. Capricorns usually
have solid and well balanced bodies,
long nose, slim neck and twinkling,
expressive eyes. They feel most
comfortable in classical styles and
formal attires in dark and sober colors.
Capricorn rules the bones, teeth and
knees so take extra care of these parts
of your anatomy from the early age.
Both male and female Aquarians have
even body and features. They have
deep and lively eyes that penetrate
and sparkle when talking to someone
about something they enjoy or are
passionate about.
Aquarians are likely to suffer from
ankle strains and swellings as
your sign rules the ankle. Blood
circulation also comes under
the rulership of this sign, so bad
circulation often troubles them.
Pisces are best at drawing materials.
There are very few people who can
turn junk into a total fashion treasure
like a Piscean does.
Pisces rules the feet and legs. This
means that you are more prone to
feet infections and swelling. Take
extra care of your feet. Regular oil
massage, walking barefoot as much
as you can inside the house, walking
over different textures will slowly be
of benefit.
