Vol. 5, #34, July 16, 2008 HENDERSON COUNTY Accountable, first and foremost, to the citizens of Henderson County. Lindsey case goes to grand jury Felony charges brought against James Lindsey by state investigators in April will go before a Henderson County Grand Jury. Court officials said the case was passed on to the grand jury at Lindsey’s request during a General Sessions court appearance yesterday. In April, Tennessee Department of Agriculture Public Information Officer Tom Womack confirmed that investigators with the department’s Agricultural Crime Unit arrested James H. Lindsey, 59, of 340 Lindsey Cemetery Road, Lexington and charged him with vandalism over $1,000, a Class D felony. Womack said the arrest was the result of an investigation into the clearing of an area of Natchez Trace State Forest in the TimberlakeWildersville Road area. Lindsey has made multiple headlines this year, first as a potential challenger to the tenure of incumbent County Highway Superintendent See Lindsey, Page 2 Harold Hensley, then as 50 ¢ Per Copy 7 area youth baseball teams vying for state championships Hoopin’ it up. . . Would-be thief gets fenced in Lexington police officers arrested a juvenile Saturday who probably wishes he’d just sat and watched the movie. According to a report filed with the department, a 17-year -old juvenile attempted to Southern burglarize Networking Solutions, 76 S. Main Street, Saturday night but soon found himself corralled. LPD Commander Jeff Middleton said the juvenile apparently left the Princess Theater, where he was watching a movie with his mother, to break into the business. “Evidently this kid was there watching to movie with his mom and somehow or another he leaves the building, goes next door and tries to break in,” Middleton said. The report states that the would-be burglar told officers he was looking for money, and after failing to find any in the business he attempted to leave the building through the Newly named Lexington Electric System General Manager Matt Ujcich’s first regular meeting went smoothly, even if the weekend before it didn’t. Ujcich, who was hired last month to permanently fill the position of general manager, officially began work last week, but has been in the office since the board voted to hire him getting up to speed on LES’s current operations and getting to know LES personnel. At the meeting, Ujcich updated the board on several current projects and their projected See Thief, Page 3 Ujcich’s first LES meeting goes smoothly See LES, Page 2 Postseason baseball tournaments and preseason football workouts weren’t the only sports going in Henderson County this week. Hensley has since been the subject of multiple investigations into the allegations made by Lindsey that he (Hensley) misused and misappropriated board that the new Parsons substation is tentatively scheduled to be operational by April of next year. But Ujcich said that date could be moved back by TVA. “We will know in October what TVA’s schedule is for acquiring the right-of-way that they will need to supply the substation, and that could push our completion date back as far as 180 days,” Ujcich told the board. Ujcich also said he would be attending a meeting with the consulting firm Fisher & Arnold, of Memphis, county, state and possibly federal funds and equipment. The youth was transported to Henderson County Community Hospital for treatment. Middleton said the youth was on a weekend leave from Deer Valley Residential Treatment Center in Linden and that the facility sent a representative to stay with the youth until he was released from the hospital Saturday, at which time he was returned to the center. Investigators also are trying to find the person or people who made entry into Lexington Middle School on Monday. Middleton said at one person least appears to have entered the building through an open window, but an inspection of the building by school authorities revealed that no items appear to have been taken from the school. Middleton said investigators found handprints and footprints on and near the glass and inside the classroom, but the intruders have not yet been identified. All of this (the universe) was made by my hand and all of this is mine – it is God who speaks. But my eyes are drawn to the man of humbled and contrite spirit, who trembles at my word. Some immolate an ox, some slaughter a man, some sacrifice a lamb, and some strangle a dog. Some offer oblations of pig’s blood, some burn memorial incense, and some consecrate idols. Since they elect to follow their own ways, and their souls delight in their abominations, I in my turn will select hardships for them and bring them what they dread; for I called and no one would answer. I spoke and they would not listen. They did what I considered evil; they chose to do what displeases me.” Isaiah 66:16-17: For by fire will God execute judgment, and by His sword, against all mankind, the victims of God will be many. As for these who sanctify themselves and purify themselves to enter the gardens, following the one in the center, who eat the flesh of pigs, reptiles, and rats: their deeds and their thoughts shall end all at once – it is God who speaks. Isaiah 66:22-23: “For as the new heavens and the new earth I shall make will endure before me – it is God who speaks – so will your name and your race endure.” (Read Revelation 21:1-8) “From new moon to new moon, from Sabbath to Sabbath, (God’s 7th Day) all mankind will come to bow down in My Presence,” says God.
