Marchack, DDS,MBA Dr. Marchack graduated from USC School of Dentistry in 1971 and received his MBA from UCLA in 1989. Dr Marchack is a Fellow of the American College of Dentists, a Fellow of the International College of Dentists, and a Fellow of the Pierre Fauchard Academy. He is pastpresident of the American Prosthodontic Society, past-president of the Pacific Coast Society for Prosthodontics, pastpresident of the American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry and past president of the Osseo integration Study Club of Southern California. He is a member of the Academy of Prosthodontics, the International College of Prosthodontists, the Academy of Osseo integration and the Newport Harbour Academy of Dentistry, and is one of the founding members of the Academy for Excellence in Dentistry in Los Angeles, CA. Dr Marchack was recently inducted as an Honorary Member of the American College of Prosthodontists at its annual meeting in 2012. He serves on the Board of Councillors at the Ostrow School of Dentistry of USC, teaches several courses in restorative implant dentistry for the department of Continuing Education at USC, and is the course director for the USC-Hong Kong Comprehensive Surgical and Restorative Implant Training Program. Dr Marchack is currently the Chair of the Editorial Council for the Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, and maintains a private practice with a focus on Esthetic, restorative and implant dentistry in Pasadena, California. Afterwards, he completed his training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in Munich until 1995, specialisation in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery followed in 1998. In 1999 he achieved the state doctorate and lecture qualification. 2002 he moved to Basel/Switzerland as deputy head of the University department. Since December 2004 he was appointed professor, director and chair of Oral, Cranio-Maxillofacial and Facial Plastic Surgery at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe-University in Frankfurt. The personal clinical focus of Prof. Sader is based on interdisciplinary treatment strategies, especially for skeletal malformations, and use of modern surgical technologies. His department offers the whole field of OMFS surgery containing from implantology, trauma and tumour care to craniofacial surgery, and he presides over one of the largest cleft centres in Europe. Correspondingly his main research topics are development and use of innovative technologies ranging from 3D-simulation, material sciences to molecular medicine. The outcome of more than 300 scientific publications proves the high standard of the research projects. He is member of numerous national and international associations and has won several outstanding scientific awards. Membership of several scientific boards of associations, foundations and journals shows also a sound standing political work. Since 2005, Prof. Sader is also deputy head of the new founded High-tech-Research Center – Center for Transdisciplinary Research in Cranio-Maxillofacial Surgery in Basel/Switzerland. Here, in a close interdisciplinary cooperation between mathematics, physicists, biologist, engineers, medicines and many other disciplines innovative technologies for next generation surgery are developed. In 2009, Prof. Sader was elected President of the “German Academy of Aesthetic Dentistry” and of the “Frankfurt Society of Dentistry from 1863”. Since 2010 he is dean responsible for clinical student education of the Medical Faculty of the Goethe University Frankfurt. 3 NEWSLETTER ISSUE 6 SPRING 2016 PROFESSOR WAEL ATT Prof. Dr. Wael Att, born in 1975 Damascus (Syria), studied dentistry in Syria and received his DDS degree in 1997. From 1998 to 2000, he visited the residency program at the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Tishreen Hospital, Damascus, Syria. In the year 2000, he joined the postgraduate training program in the Department of Prosthodontics, University Hospital of Freiburg, Germany and received the Dr. Med. Dent. degree in 2003 after completion of his dissertation. In 2003, he was appointed as an assistant professor at the same department and became a board-certified prosthodontist in 2004 from the German Society for Prosthodontics and Dental Materials (DGPro). He was a Visiting Assistant Professor from 2005 to 2007 at The Jane and Jerry Weintraub Center for Reconstructive Biotechnology, Division of Advanced Prosthodontics, Biomaterials, and Hospital Dentistry, UCLA School of Dentistry, Los Angeles (USA). Since 2007, Prof. Dr. Att is an Associate Professor at the Department of Prosthodontics, University Hospital of Freiburg, Germany (Chair: Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. J. R. Strub) and director of the postgraduate program. In 2010, Prof. Dr. Att received the Dr Med Dent Habil degree (PhD equivalent) from the University of Freiburg. He received his dental degree from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, Israel and completed postdoctoral training in restorative dentistry and dental materials at Harvard School of Dental Medicine and Forsyth Vivamus fringilla Dental Center in Boston. He also received a specialty certificate in prosthodontics and a Master's degree in public health from Boston University School of Graduate Dentistry. In addition to his academic position he also maintains a part time practice limited to prosthodontics in Boston. Organizational affiliations include Fellowships in the Academy of Prosthodontics, American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry, and the Academy of Dental Materials; Memberships in the ADA, American College of Prosthodontists, Greater NY Academy of prosthodontics, International association for Dental Research (Past President, Boston Chapter), and other organizations. He is a Past President of the International Federation of Esthetic Dentistry. He is currently President of the Society For Colour and Appearance in dentistry Curabitur vitae erat With a primary research interest in restorative and prosthetic materials, Dr. Nathanson has published numerous articles, research abstracts and textbook chapters. His current research involves new materials and technology for fixed prosthodontics, resin restoratives, restoration of pulpless teeth. 8 NEWSLETTER ISSUE 6 SPRING 2016 THE SEVENTH PRESIDENT OF IFED Dr Jose Moura SBOE Dr. Jose Roberto Moura Graduated from the University of Taubate, Brazil in 1983; received a Specialty Degree in Restorative Dentistry, and a Master of Science degree in Prosthodontics. He was President of the Brazilian Society of Aesthetic Dentistry for the years 1999-2000, and 2002-2003. He was President of the International Federation of Esthetic Dentistry (IFED). He has lectured extensively all over the World about Esthetic dentistry and High magnification in everyday practice.
