It is similar to a puppy sweepstakes except the nonimation process is open only to breeders and co-breeders all of which must be members of good standing with the American Bullmastiff Association, Inc. (ABA). The owner and/ or co-owner must also be members of good standing with the ABA or be published applicants for membership in the ABA prior to the 6th month birthday of the nominated puppy. Futurity entries must be handled by the owner, co-owner, a member of the owner, co-owner’s family, the breeder or an amateur handler. If the owner is unable to physically handle the entry in a class, a substitute handler of his/her choice will allowed providing they are not defined as a professional handler. A professional handler may handle a dog they own, co-own & are breeder or co-breeder of record provided they are also an ABA member in good standing. In the case of a breeder winning more than one class, a substitue handler of his/her choice may be used providing they are not defined as a professional handler. Breeders of Futurity nominated dogs are responsible for informing the owners on the correct entry procedures for the Futurity competition. The Futurity Chair or Show Secretary will not be held responsible for incorrectly entered Futurity dogs and will remain indifferent and impartial to any differences over winnings between, and/or co-breeder and the owner. A Futurity includes a series of nominations prior to the date on which the futurity is judged. Bitches that have been bred are first placed in nomination at a fee set by the ABA, prior to the whelping. After the puppies are whelped, one or more of the litter may be nominated at 12 weeks and 6 months of age. At 12 weeks, puppies can be nominated for 6 months and dropped from the Futurity, however puppies cannot be added at 6 months of age if they have not been nominated at 12 weeks of age. The only dogs eligible for entry into a Futurity are those whose nominations have been kept current in accord to with ABA Standing Rules for Futurity. A litter can be nominated if it is whelped on or after March 1, 2015 & on or before February 28, 2016. The litter must be nominated prior to the whelping of the litter. The nomination process is completed in accordance with the ABA Futurity Sanding Rules and must be completed by the breeder(s) or record or the lessee ot the bitch. The breeder(s) or lessee must be in good standing with the ABA and remain in good standing with throughout the entre process up to the day of the event. ABA National Specialty dates are subject to change. In the event that a litter is eligible for two national futurities, the breeder must select which entry they would like to nominate the litter for. The litter will only be eligible for one futurity entry at the National Specialty. The Futurity Class is considered a second entry in addition to the regular classes at the National Specialty. Under the “additional class“ section, enter “Futurity” with the proper age category. A dog may not be shown in a non regular class without entry in a regular class. The entry fee for futurity is paid from futurity funds so no fee is required from the breeder/owner to the Show Secretay. Therefore, no entry fee for Futurity is required The following classes will be offered: Dogs, 6 mos & under 9 mos Bitches, 6 mos & under 9 mos Dogs, 9 mos & under 12 mos Bitches, 9 mos & under 12 mos Dogs, 12 mos & under 15 mos Bitches, 12 mos & under 15 mos Dogs, 15 mos & under 18 mos Bitches, 15 mos & under 18 mos Dogs 18 mos & Older (when applicable) Bitches 18 mos & Older (when applicable) DISTRIBUTION OF FUTURITY PRIZE MONEY 45 % will be divided amongst all of the first place winners. 20 % will be awarded to both the Best Dog and Best Bitch in Futurity. 15% will be retained by the ABA to defray Futurity reasonable expenses. Given the unusual occasion that the 15% holdback is not adequate to cover “reasonable expenses, directly associated with the futurity, the Board may approve an additional amount to be witheld. The additional amount would be withdrawn from the accumulated annual funds before winnings allocations. If there is no entry in a class, then those funds shall be allociated pro rata amongst the remaining classes and to Best Dog and Best Bitch in Futurity. These funds will not be allocated to the ABA holdback. All winnings go to the breeder and/or co-breeder of record. Questions about the futurity ? However, scores will be adjusted to allow for the significant difference in level of diificulty and skills required between Rally and Obedience. For teams competing in both Rally and Obedience, the highest eraned score will be counted * The same team of dog and handler must complete all three phases of the competition, with no exceptions. The handler must be a registered owner of the dog, or a member of the immediate family of the registered owner of the dog. To be eligible to particpate, dogs must compete in a regular Standard Agility class, a Regular Obedience class or a Rally Class. Dogs will also compete in Triathalon Conformation. Placements will be determined by the total points earned and calculated as follows: 1) CONFORMATION Dogs will be judged according to the AKC Standard, with the exception that spayed and neutered dogs may compete in Triathalon Conformation. * A judge wlll be appointed by the National Show Committee with the approval of the ABA Board. * A total of 100 possible confomation points may be awarded by the judge, with dogs to be scored and placed according to points awarded. * Any dog disqualified by the judge will receive no score. 2) STANDARD AGILITY - Regular and preferred jump heights * Novice Score * Open Score +10 * Excellent / Master +20 Faults scored as follows: * Failure (F) = 10 points Refusals/Runouts (R)= 5 points Wrong Course (W) = 5 points * Excusal (E) = No score (eliminating in ring, judge determines dog is out of control, course not completed. * Time Faults = 1 point per second. 3a) OBEDIENCE * Novice Score divided by 2 * Open Score +20 divided by 2 * Utility Score +40 divided by 2 For dogs competing in both Open and Utility, the highest earned score will be used. For dogs competing in both Obedience and Rally, the highest score earned will be used. 3b) RALLY * Novice Score multiplied by .4 * Advanced Score multiplied by .55 * Excellent Score multiplied by .65 For dogs competing in both Advanced and Excellent, the highest earned score will be used. For dogs competing in both Obedience and Rally, the highest score earned will be used. Notes: For Rally and Agility, the maximum score of 100 is possible. Obedience has a maximum score of 200**, so the score is divided by 2.( **Before Triathalon adjustments for levels) There is a significant difference in difficulty between Rally and Obedience competition. Rally competition does not require the same skills as obedience (i.e, In Rally, handlers may encourage/praise dogs, give multiple commands, retry exercises, and complete only a short sit or down stay exercise on lead. In obedience, dogs work without mutliple commands, encouragement/praise during exercises, exercises are not retried, dogs complete much longer sit and down stays off lead in a row of other dogs across the ring from their handlers). So while the choice is given to compete in Rally or Obedience for the Triathalon, scores must be adjusted to relfect the level of difficulty for each.
