Term 3
July-September 2013
Welcome to our very chilly winter edition of The Heights Newsletter. We have
been busy planning this coming term’s program which is packed with many
exciting activities, outings and events. I would like to take this opportunity to
thank the talented and committed volunteers who work very hard to ensure our
local community has access to as many services as possible in a friendly and
welcoming environment.
This term we’d like to congratulate “Amistad Latina” our Spanish Speaking
Seniors Group who fundraised over $1000 by hosting the Australia’s Biggest
Morning Tea & to our Fundraising Committee who work tirelessly collecting funds
to purchase resources The Heights needs to continue providing valuable services
to the community.

More than 100 local residents attended The Seniors Cultural Exchange
project concert held at Wetherill Park Community Hall on 27th June.
Fairfield City Council Mayor Frank Carbone launched the event that was
funded by the Community Relations Commission for a multicultural NSW.
The project provided opportunities for local seniors of Anglo-Saxon,
Vietnamese, Middle Eastern & Spanish backgrounds to build and develop
cross cultural understanding through singing and dancing.
We would like to thank our group facilitators Charlie Muscat—Australiana
Singing, Nada Obaidy—Middle Eastern Dancing, Lucas Travieso—Spanish
Folkloric Dancing & Van Khan Chu—Vietnamese Fan Dancing for sharing
their talents and traditions with our seniors.
