FAQs American Guide to Canadian Dog Shows:
Q. How do I get the Premium List and other information about the upcoming four
Canadian All Breed Show held by the Lower Mainland Dog Fanciers, the Giant National
Specialty show and the Peace Arch Working and Herding Specialty?
For all of these shows go to:
http://www.bcdogshowservicesltd.ca/
Also check out www.canuckdogs.com for more shows, more info and results!
Q. How do I enter the shows if I do not have a CKC registered dog?
If you do not have a CKC reg dog NO WORRIES!! You can do one of three things:
1) Register with the dog with the CKC, or
2) obtain an ERN (Event Registration Number), or
3) If due to time constraints, #1 and #2 are not possible, then simply enter your dog as a
listed dog and apply for an ERN or a CKC Reg at a later date (but not too late!)!
Q. I know entries close approx. during the first week of October, how do I enter?
You can enter on line, mail or courier your entry in.
Q. What are the requirements for a Canadian Championship?
In order for a dog to be recognized as a Champion the dog must:
a) earn at least 10 points under at least three different judges;
b) earn at least one 2-point win, either at breed or group level.
c) and don’t forget if shown as a listed dog to apply for your ERN or CKC Reg asap
after the show!
d) oh and one more thing, and you are going to like this...
In Canada we include the totals of BOTH sexes for the BOW points,
so unlike in the US where you only get the maximum points of one sex,
in Canada you would get the total of both!!!
e.g. Say there were 9 males, then Winnerʼs Male would get 3 points
and now lets say there were 7 females , Winners Female would get 3 points
NOW HERE IS THE CANADIAN DIFFERENCE!!
9 males + 7 Females = 16 dogs = 5 points for Best of Winners!!!!!
NOW THAT, IS MUCH BETTER, DONʼT YOU THINK???
In addition, points may be earned by the Best of Breed dog at Group Level,
every group placement is worth a certain amount of points,
varying with the number of breeds represented.
Q. How many shows are there again?
For conformation there are 6 shows for Giants. (4 All breed shows, One Limited entry
show for Working/Herding dogs, and of course our Canadian National! PLUS there are
numerous other breed specialties as well, so convince a friend to come as well and make
it a holiday!
Q. What is a Booster?
A Booster is the same as a "supported entry" and means that a Specialty club has
designated the normal classes of an All Breed show as a Booster and provides prizes
for specified wins.
Q. Will the GSC be holding obedience competitions?
Sorry the GSC is not hosting an obedience competition but there probably will be one
offered by another specialty club. You will have to check the LMDF premium list for it.

Q. I WANT TO ATTEND!!! HOW DO I GET THERE?
Two choices:
FLYING IN?:
The Tradex is located literally 100 yards from the Abbotsford International airport (YXX)
that is primarily served by Westjet Airlines.
http://www.westjet.com/guest/en/home.shtml
Vancouver International is only an hour away and most airlines fly there.
And best flight and car rental deals are had by flying into Seattle (SEA) or Bellingham
(BLI). Both are in Washington State and are a reasonable drive from the show grounds.
SEA is just under two hours and Bellingham about 20 minutes.
Alaska Airlines flies into SEA BLI and YVR and is the best deal for dogs and luggage.
