The French are coming……..or have been?
Pirates have been lucky enough to have the services of a French player for a number
of weeks. Due to the split draw and lack of teams in the Junior competition our new
French recruit has been missed by many.

After last months issue, many readers
recognised 1985 dynamic halfback Mark
Jenno Jenson and his son Eddie.
Eloquently described as “ well known
erratic passing half back who tried a
length of the field try AFTER the final
whistle in the 1985 Grand Final. Luckily
his infield kick went over the sideline so
it was game over!”
Is it a true story?
Do Kiwis “like” sheep?
New Zealanders embrace polygamy. You may be disturbed by this,
but they are not constrained by
your moral, traditional or religious
views. Their lust for the fluffy livestock overrules all such things, and
is simply too great for one sheep
to satisfy.
Also, they don't live in mammoth
apartment buildings, stacked and
racked on top and beside each other like Lego blocks. They all require backyards for their spouses
to run free in while they’re at
work. Otherwise they would piss
and shit all over the furniture.
You get what I'm saying?
Any inquiries see Chuck.

Third Grade?
Solution?
Why?
New England Rugby have an
organised regular Third grade
competition which involves the
club sides, and teams made up
of university students who are
looking for a game of Rugby. A
perfect fit for Pirates third
grade to compete in.
Pirates have a number of players
keen to play Rugby but either, aren’t
quite up to 2nd grade yet, can’t
commit to training every week or
playing every week
because of
work, family etc., dislike the travel
associated with Central North, just
want to play socially and be engaged
in the club, just have too many players to give everyone a run!
Third grade in Central North is not
an organised every week competition and many clubs have teams for
home games but struggle when away
or have teams primarily made up of
older players looking for a game.
Post Narrabri game at Pirates, the players had a
theme night getting in costume beginning with the
letter P. Plenty of original
ideas and costumes, The
night also featured pasta prepared by the dedicated band
of wives, mothers and partners Pirate are so fortunate
to have.
New England have been more
than generous in the draw giving Pirates a number of home
games and most games in the
Armidale area. However the
team has travelled to Guyra
and Bingara to play.
With the injury toll in the club
still seeing Pirates third grade
being able to field a team every
week, yes.
As well the team are currently
siting in top spot, a great effort
considering they rarely, if ever
have the same team two weeks
in a row.
Great job thirds! Trail blazers
for what is hoped to be an ongoing opportunity for our players.
Success?

Butch Cassidy another casualty dislocating his elbow
at Scone, out for 8 weeks.
Butch had to travel to Tamworth to have it relocated. Todd Pascoe transported him in his car, with no
pain relief. Anyone not convinced Butch is not a
tough character, think again.
Pirates “Dream to Achieve”
Pirates Abroad, Jock in Canada
Former Pirates Colts prop Jock Botfield has been
plying his trade in Canada for the last two years.
Jock has been playing with Alberta in Canada.
Pictured with his bow tie on above, just to prove
to his mother that he has lost weight and can
now do his top button up!
Jock’s grandparents, Yvonne and Peter, can be
seen each week supporting Pirates at all our
games.

Tahs’ Home
Club Champions 2014
The Waratahs had a nail biting win over
the Highlanders with everyone's favourite
Kiwi, Richie McCaw, giving away the last
infringement for the winning penalty.
A gentle reminder to all Pirates
that the traditional magpie season is fast approaching. Things
that can be seen;
1.
Pirates lucky to have a dedicated and parochial band of supporters who travel miles to
see their teams play.
How did Pirates go?
2nd in all four competitions, 1st,
2nd, Colts and Under 16’s.
Highest points for, in 1st Grade
(706), highest points for, in 2nd
grade (805) and best for and against
(+566), highest points for in Colts
(492), highest points for in Under
16 ( 323)
Say something about the attitude of
Pirates Rugby?
Ever wonder why people like to
come and watch Pirates play Rugby?
3rd Grade still siting first, best for
and against.
2.
Can launch an attack
with no provocation
3.
are particularly touchy
about their territory
4.
can be seen plumping
their chest for no reason
Great effort from all !
Please take care when dealing
with this undisciplined creature
Lucky to have them………..
Thanks …………………….
More prominent than at
other times
Pirates Rugby against all the
odds, in the face of an increasing injury toll that
would have stopped many
clubs in their tracks, have
been able to hold onto the
Central North Club Championship trophy. Champions
for the last 7 years (since
2007) have now won it for
the eighth season in a row!
Finals Results………………..
Under 16 Major Semi Final Pirates 5—Quirindi 15, a tough game
with plenty of injuries making the Pirates task more difficult next

draw and progression to the GF, as they finished on top of the ladder.
