Vice Presidents Message
I had a delightful time at retreat. It
is always so relaxing and fun to go
camping and spinning with this
group. Anyone that would like a
“Watch out for Fiber Spiders” tshirt please let me know your size
and color preference and I would
be happy to make one for you. I
think the cost will be $15. I can
either bring them to meetings or I
will also be at Great Basin Fiber
Fair.
were advised that we needed
to either pick a new time slot or
find a new venue for our meetings.Thimbles & Threads was
getting a little crowded with our
growing group, and some of
our members have wished that
our meeting place was a little
more centrally located in Salt
Lake County. We have been
hunting for somewhere that will
be a good fit for our group.
Speaking of Great Basin….I hope
you all will be there. There are
some great classes and they are
filling up quick. I’ve sent some
press releases, had a good response on facebook and we’ve
posted information on KSL classifieds as well. I had a wonderful
time visiting the local yarn stores
to deliver bookmarks and posters,
I even purchases some sock yarn
and made my first pair of toe up
socks.I can’t wait for Great Basin,
after all it’s how I found out about
Wasatch Woolpack 2ish years
ago!
I think that we may have found
a place that will be a nice fit.
The Viridian Center at 8030
South 1825 West has agreed
to host our group for no cost.
This is a beautiful facility.
Please take the time to check
it out at viridiancenter.org. We
will have to change to the 3rd
TUESDAY of the month instead of the 3rd Wednesday.
Starting in September we will
be giving this a try. I know that
change isn’t always easy to
accomidate. Please know that
we have spent countless hours
looking for facilities, trying to
keep cost low, convinience up,
and we have worried about
switching days. I sincerely
hope that everyone feels wel-
Some of you may have heard that
Thimbles and Threads will be
hosting a quilting guild on the 3rd
Wednesday of the month, so we
come and that you know how
much I want all of you there.
As we vote in our next board
this month at the park and I
move into the president position I am excited to serve this
group. I am passionate about
fiber arts and spinning. I
hope you all feel welcome to
make suggestions, ask questions, contact me by phone,
facebook, email (even
though I struggle with email),
or come to my home. I promise to try my best to honor
the history of this group, because this group has meant
so much to me as a resource
and a source of friendship. I
will welcome new members
and value their new ideas
and try to meet their needs. I
know that I will make mistakes, and forget things, but I
hope you all feel my intent.
The feeling of friendship and
enjoyment of our craft is very
real at retreat, I hope our
meetings feel almost as
magical.
Hugs to all,
Jenny
